www.turfprosacademy.com is a mirror image of the business model Jonathan used to build Florida Turf Pros. If you're looking to start your own lawn care business, or if you feel like your lawn care business should be more profitable than what it is, this is the course for you.

You're preaching the real deal stuff that nobody wants to talk about because it doesn't get the viral views but needs to be said. Density, efficiency, pricing, type of property all matter. Don't need the high end gigantic pretty properties, just small regular lots that are easily done for higher margins

@@FloridaTurfProsit’s interesting that we have slightly different “ideal clients” and “target customers.” The theory and application is similar. I’m curious: I have a couple of other businesses that I’ve worked with on projects where I know they’re better than me or vice versa with some part or stage of the project. Do you ever do the same?

This is my first year in operation in south Santa Rosa Co and I started off thinking I wanted the big beautiful lawns for $65-$85 per service. Then I started tracking my production metrics. I've learned that my margins are WAY higher on the small $50 lawns. Building density around those small lawns has doubled my revenue! Great video!

Please put out some more videos on sod installation particularly ones that have existing irrigation. I know it sounds silly but I have clients in my area that have irrigation. They have asked for sod installation. I know I’d have to mark all the sprinkler heads in the same way that you would, if aerating the lawn, it would just help to have someone with more experience showing how it’s done more efficiently.

I love that about keeping your quote at $150 but people really need to keep in mind to check their other routes to see if they can actually fit 2 or 3 more lawns on that route. They may want to come a little lower to win the client in the neighborhood on that particular route. Of course there are other things to consider as well. Thanks for all of the great help & info you provide!

I would take that nice house for a lower price the reason its probably irrigated and fertilized which means weekly cuts, upsale for mulch and bed maintanemce program and last its great exposure for your company in a sense its part of your marketing budget. I’d take the one lawn at $90 it eliminates you traveling to three different sites and you would not have to worry about the “other company” breaking up the neighborhood you dominate. They get the best lawn it’s likely the neighbors are going to start switching to them too.

I just had to let go of a customer that I've had for years today because of him canceling again this week for the 5th time since June. I hated to do it but it's been a recurring thing every other week. I need to run my business and be able to depend on my weekly pay. What would you have done in my situation?
@FloridaTurfPros
@FloridaTurfPros Жыл бұрын
I understand completely why you let him go, and it was probably the right decision. I had this exact scenario earlier in the year. I still have the customer, but we had a very honest conversation. He was starting to get in a habit of calling and cancelling because he thought the grass hadn't grown enough or whatever. I very politely explained that my schedule is full, and all the spots on my schedule are valuable, and that I count on completing those yards each week. I told him I understood why he may need to occasionally cancel, but I also told him that we would not be the right company for him if he continued to do so. Hasn't cancelled since.
@Natureboy1457
@Natureboy1457 Жыл бұрын
@@FloridaTurfPros Thanks for the reply. Yeah after I called him and told him that I was going to stop service he simply said well that's unfortunate and said thanks for calling and said goodbye. You're right it's probably best that I let him go. After all the years of me servicing his lawn it seemed like he didn't even care, there was no loyalty on his part at all, at maybe trying to work the situation out. And when he did cancel he would let me know 2 days ahead of time. Alot can happen in those 2 days with the grass growing over that period of time.

@FloridaTurfPros

It depends on what your market will support.
@LLC_Turf_Pros
@LLC_Turf_Pros Жыл бұрын
Ok. I picked up a customer recently but their reservation was that I am solo and the previous company has employees and shows up even if staff calls out. I closed them by just being professional as possible and quoting what I think is a fair price. I charge $45 and I am in and out in 28-30min. The bigger companies charge $50-$55 for cookie cutter lawns but the “Chuck in a truck” low end guys charge $35-$40. I’m charging on the higher end. But I’m finding I have turned down a lot of lawns cuz they want $40 and won’t go to my price at $50 for a particular lawn. That’s why I was wondering if because I’m still not a known business if I should think about lowering the price (still being profitable per property) but focusing on filling up my schedule then later on picking off ones that may not be as profitable.
