Man that’s cool. Sounds just like a tiny combustion engine revving when you open and close the valve.

I don't think so, because firstly my engine models are too weak, and secondly, it is hard to make lightweight and relatively small source of compressed air

Aliaksei Zholner Well, you know much better the torque of your engines, but as a small lightweight reliable source of CA I was thinking of a water balloon or one of those elongated ones for bending into figures. GrandadIsAnOldMan even made a "jet" out of one of those long balloons and a paper airplane. If I had the time, I'd put it into test myself. Anyway, excellent work! You are truly creative for YT standards...

Aliaksei Zholner of course... g-search1.alicdn.com/bao/uploaded/i5/TB1XX1JNXXXXXa_XpXXYXGcGpXX_M2.SS2 They are usually 50 or 60cm long. I guess you know them but I didn't know how to name them exactly. They have another advantage over regular balloons: they are harder to inflate, which means higher pressure :)

First off, you are absolutely insane. In a good way. Secondly, what would happen if you just rev it as fast as you can for a while? Does it catch fire? I can only be so tempted by that question because I haven't spent all the hours you have creating it, though! :D

I understand the cylinder and piston and crank shaft. Actually I built my own out of cardboard. But how do I make my engine so that it spins just blowing into it rather than blowing and sucking? I know I need a way for the air to be released as it approaches the end but what would this device look like?
@nothingssmore
@nothingssmore 7 жыл бұрын
I used a simple valve which is opened by another crank mechanism (the one which is visible outside the cylinder and body). The valve is opened only when piston goes down, so during this time energy is passed from compressed air to piston; on the pistons back stroke valve is closed, and "waste" air released through the gap between piston and cylinder, as they a not 100% fit each other

How much of this is glue and how much is paper? It would be interesting to see the wight of the paper parts pre-build and the whole after, with the delta giving you the glue. Seems like many of the smaller parts are better described as composed mostly of glue and given form by a paper scaffold.
@nothingssmore
@nothingssmore 7 жыл бұрын
Interesting thoughts ) Of course, it would be impossible to build such a model without glue(at least I don't know how to achieve it), but I can't say that details are composed of glue - they are from paper but soaked with glue to be stronger. As for the weight - I have electronic scales, but they are not able to measure such small values(their scale interval is 1 gram). They are showing 0g for this model )

@nothingssmore
@nothingssmore 6 жыл бұрын
I also tried many times before I could achieve acceptable results, but I think you can use some well-fitting by diameter rod (a pen for example) to create a piston side surface, then wrap it with office paper one time(without glue), and use whole thing as a template for cylinder side surface. When finished, you'll remove "intermediate" office paper and will get two cylinders with diameters different by thickness of an office paper
