Just a note, there is drag resistance adjustability on the pan on the SmallRig head, just not the tilt. I would agree though that I will probably just buy the sticks and use my Komodo head until I can save for something nicer.

If you are saving money in one of the best "for the money" tripods, it makes no sense to spend much more a head. The head that comes with the AD-80 is a must for the price.

I own this tripod with it's head, it was on sale and I got them both for 325 usd + 5 usd for express delivery, instead of 399 the msrp. The video head on it has a nice panning damping but tilting isn't as good. But it's not too bad either. I have a sigma 150-600 contemporary lens with some lens coat on it and a canon Eos T7 body and also a shotgun mic mounted on top of the camera body all mounted on top of the head and if I set the locking switch for tilting at around 50-60 degrees clockwise, it becomes pretty solid and easy to tilt and it remains in the position no matter how angled it is. I know there are a lot heavier lenses than the sigma one I have but it's 2 kilos + the camera body + the mic, which goes to around 3.5 kilos including the extra accessories like lens coat etc. It's not exactly super heavy but not far lighter than most video or wildlife photography setups. It does the job way better than those cheap arca swiss compatible gimbal heads, or way more expensive alternatives. And on the plus side, this tripod is far more sturdier than similarly priced other tripods from K&F Concept or similar brands. Also there's an aluminium version of the pod with a similar fluid video head, probably without adjustable damping for panning. And it costs around $160, it's also a really good option and I think it'd probably perform about the same for my setup but I impulsively decided to purchase the carbon fiber one when it was on a discount and I even got it delivered in the same day. It's pretty much a bargain and I am absolutely happy about it.

@@MitchellMillennial what is that? Neewer has a fluid head named m006. There is no info on it in KZfaq, but you can adjust both drags. I am going to give it a try. I have a Fx30 rigged out setup, so I don’t need much more. Will let you know.

@@MitchellMillennial well, the weight of my camera was more than max payload, so that was the main reason. I bet that one's good, but my rig is around 30 lbs, so I ended up going for the new Mk II Sir rapid tripod kit. The small rig legs are good for its height, so I'll prob throw the sirui head on there if I need that 7ft elevation. But yea there's kind of a general price jump from 15 to 25 lb setup
