Really, really liked your film so please don't see my next comments in a bad light. The visual aspect in my mind was great, really done well. I had a tough time with the narration though. In my mind I kept hearing the female voice as more a Cameron Diaz or Julia Roberts sounding voice and the male narration - as weird as this might seem - as a Christopher Walken sound. The pace of the narration felt just a little rushed but if it could have been drawn out at a just a hair slower pace I think it would have been even more enjoyable. Also, I realized at the end the reason why I really liked the script. It was because it was very much like a poem was being read. All in all thumbs up and kudos to you on the film. 🙂

A unique observation by the girl about everything and everyone even though she observes the thoughts that are coming her way. Really impressive and reflecting deep meaning about the world.

I see 2 possible stories in this short. 1) the observer was being observed! 2) the persona is a story in making by the narrator

Great short film. I really liked the focus pulling on many of your scenes. I have a question about the female actor. Did she really exist? Because nobody ever really acknowledged her and then she disappeared at the end. I really like how her bland life compared to the black coffee.

***** People will connect to what speaks to them so others finding this "laughable" is irrelevant. Oh and by the way this short has no pretentiousness at all.

nice poem, but there is something that could make this better (my opinion(not an expert)). Black coffee, nice, the girl isn't necessarily, the popular type. Make the scenes and feel of the movie darker, all the scenes are so bright which throw me off the tone of the music and what the narrator is saying. I know it wasn't shot at night, but that doesn't mean it can't be dark and lonely. After all dark coffee throws more ideas into my head than a pretty girl admiring her surroundings (admiring, not really). I'm not a pessimist but try to be darker and mysterious and it will add more depth to the whole story.

She has accepted her loneliness gracefully after observing others and comparing her situation with them..n that’s proved wen she said ...hope he can feel d warmth of spilled coffee on his shirt...! Nice observation on loneliness...constructive or destructive...choice z urs...😊👍

Hey Shayna, this got into Cannes? Because I like this but it doesn't have the look of a film with the kind of budget that would be at the biggest film festival in the world. Obviously I'm not talking 'Hollywood Tentpole budget' but this looks super, super, SUPER low budget.
@smarkyfilms10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to check it out. Your right, this is super low budget, in fact it was made with no budget at all! Just all innovated and created with what we had around us. This was accepted, as suggested in the title, to the Short Film Corner at the festival - an opportunity for less established filmmakers to network or gain funding. It did not compete in the festival, rather it participated with many other short films around the world in order to give the select filmmakers industry access.
@yongruing706910 жыл бұрын
It'd be great with Morgan Freeman narrating but with their current voice and setting, it's perfect. Isn't it supposed to be a depiction of a girl with a mundane life with seemingly complicated thoughts that we all have from time to time? So I guess a big budget would've killed the idea of the film.

The actress in this, Nathalie Palka is so naturally beautiful. I wonder what she looks like now, 7 years later. Where was this filmed??? And am I correct, this is a film about loneliness & suicide??? Because from the way it ended, I feel like you said she killed herself. PLEASE REPLY.

She doesn't know true solitude but only loneliness, living as she says "in between the grey that separates the clouds." If there's value in this ritualized monotony it is a cry for a CENTER: God. Just saying . . . .

Always remember we must repent of our sins (sin is transgression The Law Of Yahuah The Father in Heaven. The Law are The Books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy). We must repent of our sins and Have Belief On Yahusha The Messiah. HE Died and Rose three days later so that we can be forgiven of our sins! Come to HIM🙂🙂🙂🙂

this is the worst short I've ever seen. It's like every possible cliche you could fit into a film. Such a struggle to watch. I'd never usually say this about another filmmaker's work but this is just tragic.

+Feis Film Really? I thought is was really good. The story is what makes it so interesting to me at least. So much of what is said in the narration is so true of real life. I liked the way it was filmed too.
