Brian, I would like to thank you very much for the video about the horn not working in the Smart 451. Thanks to your video, there was no expensive repairs by an electrician who would have to cut all the electrics and look for the missing horn. Thank you, you are great.

Hi I have a smart forfour 2007 1.3 does anyone know how I can get the boot to open again from the outside I think the solenoid or sensor is gone. Any advice thank you?

First check your fuses. I suspect the same take it apart have a look to see there has been water or moisture causing oxidation of the wiring on the switch. For replacement parts don't bother searching for smart car parts. Just pop to the scrap yard and look for a mitsubishi colt it's exactly the same car bar the shape.

@@moyb112 Ok so mitsubishi colt is the part needed to fix the sensor/solenoid on the boot?

They are the same care more or less. Its easier and cheaper to get or buy colt parts than smart even though they are exactly the same

Ok... But how did you open the back door if it doesn't open from either side?

The inside handles were operational, the process is still the same if the inside handle does not work either it just a matter of opening the inside panel to access the cable then pulling it with some pliers to open the door. Hope that helps

@@hannesschneider6375 There are two screws that hold the handle under plastic cover price the cover with a screw driver or a flat implement . Once the screws are off just prise the panel. Only the inner skin of the panel comes off
