The Sam unit in these Smart cars is not just a fuse box but the central control unit for all the cars electrical systems. Sam faults are normally due to the ingress of water into the electronics, a common fault on roadsters. To start with the SAM will usually only partially fail. Maybe your hazard lights, heater, or electric windows will become intermittent or stop working completely. if you act quickly at the first signs of failure a repair is usually possible.

Do you have a video explaining/ showing what you’re looking for when something is bad with the sam unit and how to repair it ? I’m good with soldering just not sure what i need to look for and what exactly needs to be done.

Hi, I have a question, do you know where the turn signal relays are? Because on my car Smart fortwo, the right turn signal gives 0 response, li noise or light ... and apparently it's a problem that will come from the relay but I do not know where it is ... there are plenty of relays... Can you help me please... Thanks in advance

Do you think the SAM can cause a misfire? My tailgate lock is also not working even after replacing the actuator with a new one from Merc. I have a few weird errors and think it's caused by communication issues? O it's not a Roadster but a 2008 Fortwo 451 1.0 Turbo Cabrio.

Change the Sam fuse box and your problems will be solved

Do you think the SAM can cause a misfire? My 2004 fortwo 450 Often misfire at the traffic light, I have replaced the spark plug，And the car have ingress of water

It can be but LH leads can be also damaged if you had water ingress

Hi mister smart racer. i have a eletrical problem that mabye you know how to fix..the turnsignal is on al time and i suddenly lost my fuel gauge..tok the SAM unit out to se if there was somthing not right, but dident find anything wrong..any idea whats wrong?

Check fuse as well

05 four two pure. No injector pulse. No communication with engine control module? Any ideas?

B0031,b0029. I have communication with instrument cluster and restraint system. No communication with Meg motor electronics control unit , abs , and central electronic module.

@@SmartRacer just a couple b codes in the restraint system. But no response from any other module
