Had E.ON smart reader installed. It displays electrical meter reading but my gas reading always shows 00000... went through E.ON and after sending photos they told me the smart meter was faulty, but out of warranty as I had been with them over a year and I could purchase a new one. The concept is good, the execution and onslaught of excuses when they can't get their own technology to work is not.

Absolutely sane here. Mine worked fine for a couple of months came home one day and it was saying waiting for current data and not showing any data I could see before.. Many attempts to re store the connection myself has failed and tried calling my energy provider to see if they can help. They said could be the meter had that day they hadn't been able to get readings. She basically said it should start working itself just leave if turned on. After 4 days sitting on the worktop doing nothing I have chucked it in the bin 😄🤣

In the flat that I now live in the Electrical Cupboard is about 11 paces away, and from time to time the IHD stops connecting to the Meter in the cupboard, it doesn't seem to make any difference whether I contact the electricity provider or not if I just wait it just randomly decides to connect again

Agreed, its a useless as a chocolate tea pot for example my display is still showing the rates from over a year and a half ago but BG don’t seem to be able to fix, Whether your with British Gas, EON or whatever their just too busy counting their profits to worry about the false reading on smart meters. Now we got Mr nice guy Sunak in power he can look forward to all his income from energy shares along with the income from his involvement with COVID vaccine manufactures.

mine is stuck on the energy sign and wont move. I have disconnected it and plugged it back in but it wont go off it. I have sent a e-mail with photo but nothing back yet, meanwhile my usage seems to be going up. I sometimes wonder if this is because i rang them yesterday and mentioned that they were charging me too much as i hadnt hardly had my heating on but the price was still £150 a month, but according to my meter iwas only using £65 a month

On my monitor the budget usage screen at 0.44 shows the kwh used but today it has stopped displaying the budget graph and £ used. The cost per unit and budget have been setup. Seems odd that it can still show the kwh used but can't calculate the cost.

My Chameleon meter was installed about 7 weeks ago and only started giving me any kWh or kW readings after about 5 days (not the 'Max 48 hours' from installation!). But has never shown the monetary value - which remains at £0.00 since installation, even though the kWh are coming through. No one seems to know who should be providing this - whether from the supplier's end or if it is set on the meter itself?!

Dear Eon. I've been a customer of yours for a very long time. I send you meter readings every month. I've been in credit over £1000 a year for the last three years at least I can count? I have two questions. 1. Short term unsecured loans of this nature usually recover 30% - 35% interest rate? Where is my interest? 2nd question ... You will never ever be allowed to fit a smart meter on my property? You will never ever be allowed to fit a meter that has a remote off switch (what a smart meter actually is) that only you and the government can operate and I have no control over? I would like to talk to you about this, someone in the UK please? Please post a number?

How do you submit gas and electricity meter readings? It's only one number, do you submit same number for both?

If your supplier provided both gas and electricy go to their web site, log in or register. You may need your account numbers (both gas and electric) and any other information they require, account numbers should be on your latest bill. On the web site there should be a section "Provide a meter reading" (one for gas and one for electricity). Enter the appropriate readings. Click "Save" and/or "Send". There may also be a "Help Page" to help you submit a reading. Hope that helps.

My IHP only shows gas but no electric display so although it sends the gas readings I have to manually send the electric readings. This has been going on for a year now but no help at from the supplier. Have tried re starting, switching off then on again, the IHP is sat on the electricity meter! ! !

Press the OK button at the bottom of the In-Home Display, then the right arrow button until you see Gosodiadau [IAWN] Press OK. This takes you to settings Press the right button until you see Dewis iaith [IAWN]. If this doesn't work, you may need to try the next option, Clirio Gosodidau [IAWN] Press OK Select English on the left, by pressing the left arrow, then press OK This should switch your In-Home Display to English.

At what time of day does the display start its 24 hour cycle? Sometimes it has just started when I get up in the morning, other times its halfway round the dial. I have given up on it now and simply ignore it.

I had a smart meter and IHD installed few months ago. The in house display stopped working a few weeks ago and when I checked my bill all the meter readings for both gas and electricity are estimates. Very fishy to me ..What are these people up to?

Smoke and Mirrors thats what. Look a video from 2:49 to 2:56, you will see the smart meter in, used so far today mode, showing how the cost so far today drops dramaticaly as a kettle is switched off, and the green, amber, and red indicators are all off. Genni Poole hi! I work for the smart team for eon! The reason is your mere has been fitted by another supplier which this will happen until every supplier at some point will release the Dcc software which will upgrade your smart meter and your in home display to work accordingly

Me too I couldn’t have one due to eco7 not being supported, now I’ve had one with Octopus, that didn’t work and the main meter was left in a dangerous way by the installer, just been reinstalled by eon and that doesn’t work either. Gone from being able to read my day and night usage to not having a clue. I did however get a warning that I’d exceeded my budget (not set by me) just 3 days after installation. Can’t see my usage on the new main meter either, no instructions with that. So my advice is to steer clear, I was really keen to get one, it’s not what I hoped it would be.

Press ok, go to meter information, press ok again, go to the meter readings. Press the fuel button to switch between electric and gas reads.

We had a smart meter for years and the cable got damaged the company said mother can't have a replacement, also I never understand why you put credit on a meter for gas and electricity then pay again for a gas and electricity bill? It's like having a pay as you go mobile that has a phone bill at the end of every month

Useless for eco7 just want to know my day use and night use for the billing period in kW so I can calculate it myself - it can’t tell me. In fact it can’t tell me my night use at all at least that’s what the fitter told me. Looked on the main meter, appears to be 00000.

Go to settings and use the arrows to move along to messages. Then push OK and use same arrows again to select message and OK again to select the message and read it. Once done you can choose to delete the message or push the home button to go back to the main screen.

I changed the password on my home wifi and the new password included the special Character "&". The meter doesn't seem to allow me to enter it - no facility for special characters offered. So meter now offline, which rather destroys the point of it. Please advise how to fix it

You can't they are rubbish, you have to use the meter itself, and they are stupidly hard to operate. For the Landis & Gyr units (the one with the Grey A button and Green B button - watch this video - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/or10nMZ5xJ7QqYU.html)

If you ignore all the letter,s that come to try & get you to get a smart meter in, all of a sudden the old meter goes blank, so you have to contact them, then they say, (oh we dont repair the old meter) so you have basicly got no choice, you have to have a smart meter in, if i had the choice, i would definatly have a 50p or a pound coin meter, but they dont want to pay a guy to come to empty them, so thats more than likely why they were done away with, but they were by far the best sort of electric meter.

It's a bit hidden in one of the menus but we have this IHD and SMETS2 meters and the meter reading functionality is there.

Our smart display has never worked. Eon won't help, they are getting readings so will not do anything about the display not working, despite me contacting them. They actually told me not to contact them again about it! The engineer left before it was working and that was that. We didn't even want the meter in the first place but Eon said we couldn't have the best deals without it. So very disappointed with Eon as it would really be useful to know what we are spending, with the prices on the up.

If it's working properly it will be connected to you energy suppliers smart network, the time is set automatically as you'll see when the clocks go forward and back. You don't need to change the time yourself.

Yes you can get meter readings off display. Press OK then scroll using right arrow until you see meter information select, then select gas or electric and it will show you readings

@@nickharris2177 what if there is no OK button to press.? I was told by Eon to press the 6 button 4 times to get the electricity reading reading and the gas press 9 button 3 times. It does flash up very quickly, be ready with pen and paper.

Just 4 minutes after midnight, and my smart meter is showing £4.10 used so far. Clearly these meters give false readings. It’s saying I used 46KW in just 4 minutes!

Mine hasn't worked for 9 months my in house display is showing 28 pounds for the month but my account online says 41 pounds for the month. Ofgem has said your energy supplier has a legal requirement to make sure your in house display is working or they are breaking the law!!! My gas isn't even registering all they say is reset it, all that button does is turns it on and off it doesn't reset it!!! Must think I'm stupid I won't stop until they fix the problem

I had an old smart meter. This never worked fully with the electricity until I complained consistently for a year. THEN, they said they'd send a new meter. THEN the old meter started working properly! The new meter was dropped into the back garden (I didn't know). AGAIN the wifi will not link up. I have to start all over again with engineers and complaining to sort out Grrrrrr

@@nusaibacollection5382 actually no I found it. You click just above the green light and it will show you your electric balance. If its showing gas balance just press it again to see electric

Smart meters are not compulsory and it is up to you whether you get one installed. You will likely be offered one by your supplier if you don't already have one, but you are well within your right to refuse.

If you are speaking about your in home display, there is a in home display at then back! Hold it down for 30 seconds! Have it off and then turn it back on again
