Its time to tune-up our uncoolest car, the 2013 SmartCar Fortwo.

I had a 2008 smart passion with the panoramic roof. I loved that car and wish I hadn't traded it in. Never had any problems driving it on the highway, through the hills, and over some steep grades.

Just purchased the Smart for two 2009 and I was very impressed with the handling and roomy interior. We will use the car to pull behind a motorhome. Thank you for the very useful information on oil and filter changes.

I drive a 2011 diesel Smart ForTwo in the UK. Because of its low emissions, I pay zero road tax. It’s mileage at 49000 is low for its age and it has a full service history. Mine has an extra that I really love; paddle shifters, so I never put it into automatic. Shifting manually seems to be much quicker and by being make my own choices on gear selection enables me be in the correct gear at all times. Waiting for the automatic to sense we’re climbing a hill and then to change down leisurely, doesn’t make for good progress. I drive it as fast as it’ll go most of the time (actually I thrash it!) using all the gears, yet I still achieve 50 miles per gallon of diesel. Great little car.

Enjoyed your video. I just bought a 2013 Fourtwo Passion with only 60,000km (36,000mi) and love it! I have been driving for 65 years.

Had this generation of smart too, the latest one is much better (453), wider, more softer and stable on the road. I really like smart cars, there is something cool about them. You have to drive one to feel this.

I have a 2018 Smart EQ Fortwo and it's a tank. Wider wheel base, 800+ lbs heavier than it's gas counterpart. It's so fast and feels firmly attached to the ground, even on the highway. I drive it like I stole it and have no regrets about buying it. It's a fantastic little car!

My daily driver is a 2015 Smart Brabus. My other two cars are a Porsche 911 and a Corvette Grand Sport. I guess we are a lot alike. I agree with everything you said especially the interstate driving. It always gets looks and makes people smile. I hate to use the word "cute" but i think that is what it is.

The sump can easily crack, especially if an orang utang has tightened it. Replace it with a Stahlbus valve. Makes oil changes much easier, and keeps the sump safe.

I drive mine on the interstate daily, it can be a little sketchy honestly but it feels more steady than some of the bigger suvs ive driven on the highway getting passed by semis

Agreed. I have driven mine on multiple out-of-town trips. For awhile I commuted every day on the interstate and it was fine. Saved me a lot on gas.

I drive a 2009 Smart ForTwo and I really like it. I did enjoy the video, but I think the title is misleading. The title says tune-up. I thought I was going to see a video about spark plugs and coil wires and how to adjust the timing. Instead you demonstrated an oil change and air filter change. I appreciated seeing the air filter change demonstrated as I have not done that yet on mine. But, I think you need to fix the title of your video.

I commend you for realizing that money is more important than ego. If one has to have a certain vehicle to hold up ones head high, then fragility of character is obviously present. Perhaps seek counseling if you don't realize that you are super rad without the material possessions!

I am 43 years old and a non-driver, I been searching out for the best beginner car, the smart car been on my mind but with them discontinuing here in the US, it got me discouraged from wanting it now. After watching this video I still love the smartcar. Any suggestions or advice for a nervous beginner I will listen. Blessings!

Has anyone ever created a decent way to widen the front axle without having to use wheel spacers? Racers and car buffs when I was a kid were all into dropping the front of their Fords. Does anyone make a kit? Hey, it ain't front wheel drive. How hard could it be.

I first saw a Mercedes Smart in Italy back in 2002. Made a lot of sense there. Not so much here.

The ignition key, turn it once (and release!), do not hold it in the start position, you told it to start already. Key can be removed in "N", or "R" for park. During the lockdown of about six months, the battery depleted. Interesting to see a smart owner wait for the diagnostics with new battery, now the gear changes are much faster, it seems to learn from your driving style.

Agreed I came for a tune-up demonstration and was disappointed not to see one. However I appreciated the demonstration of the air filter change. It's a fine video, he just needs to fix the title. Maybe in the future, he can post a real tune-up video.
