What’s most annoying is, Adrien’s birth is the catalyst for this entire show; his birth is what made Emillie sick and go into a coma/die which led to Gabe becoming Hawk Moth- and yet Adrien/ Chat Noir does nothing! He does more in the bloody show intro than he does in this finale

The fact that Marinette sympathises with Gabe after he abused his son emotionally and manipulated him, took advantage of everyone around him, threatened to delete his nephew from existence, caused Marinette herself so much stress after stealing the miraculouses and akumatised her classmates on countless occasions and many more things, yet she shuts off Chloe and calls her irredeemable is hilarious

Gabe seemly gets a redemption, who has spent seasons psychologically torturing his son, while Chloe can’t I’m not even mad this is just hilarious at this point. 😅

So the abusive father gets a whole statue for himself and yet Chloe is the irredeemable one🙃

Finale was really mixed for me. Really upset how Adrien got sidelined AS USUAL

they made chatnoir unimportant, again. Gabriel being remembered as a hero? Adrien wanting to be like his dad? (the one that imprision him and brainwash him) yikes HORRIBLE.

One thing I couldn’t stop thinking about after watching the finale is that the kwamis explained in Ephemeral that the wish destroys the universe and creates a new one in its place. And then in the finale, Gabe actually is able to make the wish. So our original Marinette, Adrien, etc. were all vaporized and replaced with copies. Gabe won. The show’s over.

Gotta love how Nathalie is hobbling about, wasting away, practically on her death bed and Gabe still thought he needed to transform and use the strength boost to knock something out of her hand. Surprised you didn't mention how Marinette types out a whole text to tell Chat Noir where she is, who Monarch is and what's going on and then just... Doesn't send it. Nothing interrupts her, nothing is rushing her, she just suddenly decided to stop. Because the script told her she can't cause the reveal even indirectly I guess.

What was weird was the fact that Felix and Kagami, confirmed to Marinette that Gabriel was Hawkmoth. And the fact that she was shocked by that made me realized when she transformed to Ladybug, "Oh is she gonna go and confront Gabriel in the Finale?" But no, in the next episode we see her in bed fast asleep enduring a nightmare. And what made me REALLY mad was the fact that she only went to the Agrestes house to see Nathalie about Adrien, COMPLETELY ignoring the fact that Gabriel could be Monarch. And the look on her face when she saw Monarch de-transforming made me pause the video and say "Ok we can confirm that this girl was daydreaming during the play."

Sidelining Adrien and ignoring the Sentimonster plot are inexcusable issues. But despite those, the action rocks!

One thing I will give them props for is the action was so well choreographed. The angles and the attack methods all seemed so much more interesting than the usual hit and restrain.

Among the MANY subplots that were dropped without an explanation: why on Earth did Gabe and Tomoe want SO STRONGLY for their children to be a couple? To what end? WHYYY!? Not only isn't it ever explained, but Tomoe drops the thing without making a scene in the end.

I am so upset. Adrien is the one who has the most connection to the plot, it's his father that's the villain, it's him who would be the most affected by the final battle, and yet he's shafted! This is utterly ridiculous. He should be there! The story's climax should be Adrien finally being able to stand up to his father, and with Marnette's help, finally defeat Hawk Moth. He's the one out of all of the characters in the entire show who has the most at stake here.

Adrien, Felix and Kagami could have done something in the finale lmao. Where is Chat Noir? Adrien find out his father is Monarch and his reaction after surely more interesting than that stupid sympathy of Marinette.

I can't believe they did this. Do the writers even know their own characters? As a day 1 fan since 2015 I am so dissapointed. The potential the show had was just wasted, since season 3.

Marionette was the worst in this finale: -she was more worried about Adrian than the world possibly ending -lied to Adrian telling him that Gabriel helped defeated monarch instead of telling him that he was monarch -revealed her identity in front of a supervillan -didn't suddenly click what kagami's and felix's story said about monarch being Gabriel then when she told him that she said it was because of luck (cough cough plot convience) -tried sympathising with Gabriel while de transformed I don't usually hate Marionette but my god she was an idiot in this whole finale

I think the whole thing with Ladybug and Chat Noir kidnapping Adrien and Kagami was ultimately a way to still show us the big bad plan while making it age appropriate for the child audience. Ultimately what the plan was, was plaguing the world with their worst nightmares. Then, the Alliance rings offer an antidote/solution that will make the nightmares (which are shown to cause the characters actual pain) go away completely. Afterwards, Gabriel takes away the antidote and everyone has to endure the nightmares once again. Then Gabriel pretty much tells everyone who is suffering from the rings that "I can make the pain and nightmares go away, all you need to do is say this phrase," and they turn into a what is equivalent to Monarch henchmen. I feel like people don't give credit to how dark this plan really is. Its almost like taking substances away from addicts and offering to give them back, but only if they do what you want.

I don't understand the meaning of Adrien's character. If this was supposed to be a ladybug and Chat Noir story then why do they keep knocking Adrien off the sidelines. Hell, it was supposed to be the finale of the main plot and one of the main characters, who in theory is "an essential part of the story" is omitted. This is comical because in the sand boy episode it is shown that he is afraid of isolation. Logically, it is him in this situation who should burst a vein and get out of the cell with Cataclysm, thinking whether the father will know his identity or not. Instead, they prefer to leave him in the bunker and let Mari do all the work. By the way, Marinette should keep the cat ring, she handles it really well and they really did a good job with the costume design. It's just a pity that it shows how much Adrien's character is redundant here.

I feel like marinettes dream was so… unserious? Like I thought her WORST NIGHTMARE would have to do with monarch taking their miraculous and having her identity expose but no… it was just adrien getting captured… like I feel like that could’ve been so much more intense. Also imagine how good a fight scene between cat noir and monarch could’ve been? And they could’ve discovered each other’s identity’s and THEN maybe he gives the cat miraculous to ladybug to fight gabriel. Then at least he could still be in the finale… and adrien would be traumatized for all of season 6 but it would be such a good topic for later episodes and would make them more interesting

I liked this episode apart from the fact that Adrien wasn't in it! The worst thing about this finale was this was the best season in my opinion, but it has been ruined by poor writing decisions. 😔

Adrien sidelined. I thought felix and kagami would have more role. It feels super rushed. Disappointed that adrien didnt even get to fight monarch and learn his identity. Its so funny how chill everyone was that emily is back and doesnt even get a speaking line. Its so weird. Dont like that they made gabriel a hero, even made a statue, its so unreal

Gabe’s ending is so unsatisfying, he got away with everything and faced no consequences, and even get to become a hero…and the sacrifice scene didn’t hit me at all, because I have no idea what Gabe and Emily’s relationship is like, I don’t understand why after everything Ladybug said he still wanted to make the wish, it felt like he just didn’t want to face the consequences of his actions, so decided to commit suicide.

I've have this whole list of grievances about this whole thing and it's like ridiculously long so I'm not expecting anyone to seriously read it but basically: EDIT: After watching the movie I am also disappointed because it wasn't the best either. Still better than the show but the pacing was very off. I guess they did the best they could with the short runtime they had but also maybe if there wasn't so many songs (I knew it was a musical I just didn't realize the plot would be sidelined so much) it could have felt a little less rushed. But anyway TLDR: Adrien didn't need to be a sentimonster to flesh out his story and character as he already had a controlling father and identity issues, and making him one was lazy and cheap and undermined his entire character as dispensable. The whole finale and how Gabriel just got a free pass and Adrien knowing literally nothing was cheap and crappy writing and this finale just proves the show has lost all of its original appeal. In my mind the Miraculous show is the alternate universe and the upcoming movie is the true story/universe because the show has just become so cheap and underdeveloped. (EDIT: still like the movie better but the pacing issues made it disappointing and not as enjoyable as I was expecting) (My whole essay I wrote to vent my frustration more than anything) Still hate that the Adrien being a sentimonster thing ended up being canon, I'd be fine if it was just Felix and Kagami but it makes Adrien even more of a side character than he was before, he doesn't even have complete free will now as a normal human being, freedom had always been something he struggled with but that was just his overbearing father, they didn't need to make Adrien a controlled nonhuman being to flesh out that plot point. If they just actually wrote the storyline well they could have had a more satisfying conclusion with him and Gabriel, but nope it's just "oH hE'S bEeN a sEnTiMoNsTeR aLl aLoNg" His character feels like it was purposely made to be inferior to Marinette's in every way, he wasn't even a part of the final battle and Marinette gives him the rings and is like "you have all free will now" and yet proceeds to keep the two most important pieces of information about him to herself, one that he's a sentimonster and two that his father was actually Hawkmoth/Shadowmoth/Monarch all along. But nope let's just not tell him all that and let him live the lie that his father was actually a good person and like sure let's just erase everything Gabriel did because he "sacrificed" himself, which he only did it at the very end when he sacrificed Adrien himself multiple times and showed little to no care for him at all. But in like two minutes he decided "nah" and just dipped and apparently that's supposed to be heroic. Also, Marinette now even more has this superiority complex where she just knows everything and has all the responsibilities and yet Chat Noir/Adrien is supposed to be considered her "equal" despite constantly being kept in the dark and being treated as nothing more than a plot device for Marinette. And the fact that they still have not explained how Emilie and Gabriel got the butterfly and peacock miraculous in the first place, how the latter got damaged. They never fleshed out Natalie's story and how she came to work for the Agrestes and why she was so loyal and infatuated with Gabriel, and did it even say if she made it or not?? Like did she just die?? And if that woman in the finale is actually Emilie and Gabriel traded his life for hers, but all Adrien knows is that "Gabriel died fighting against Monarch" how does that explain Emilie's sudden reappearance?? Like Marinette really gonna walk in and just be like "oh yeah by the way your mom's just here now" and Adrien's just gonna be like "ok cool 😊" And the fact that Gabriel never found out that his son was Chat Noir (in the ACTUAL timeline) was SUCH a missed plot point that we'll never get to see now because they were lazy and cheap and didn't want to put in the effort for actual good writing (But what else is new) The Adrien/Chat Noir we grew to know and love from the early seasons seems like a completely different person in comparison to what he is now, stale and dispensable with no attributes of his own but rather used as a plot device all together. Chat Noir and his playful and vibrant personality is barely even existent anymore, instead replaced with the lifeless shell of Adrien that is just dull and whose entire character now revolves around "is a sentimonster." Adrien's identity crisis was already set up and believable, they didn't need to add this. He was already in a controlling household, and that was just shown to be Gabriel's nature throughout the whole show, Adrien was expected to be perfect and it could have been simply because Gabriel wanted the absolute best for his son after Emilie's disappearance, but with his grief he became controlling and went about it in all the wrong ways. Adrien finally had freedom as Chat Noir, where there was no expectations or standards to measure up to, he could just be free to find himself and be who he wanted. That was what made him such a compelling character, but instead of nourishing that growth and development they just threw the "he's a sentimonster" thing to explain everything, and now he'll never truly be able to have it because he now has the possiblity of being controlled by someone else as soon as a ring falls into the wrong hands. And if that ring is denounced he just simply ceases to exist. And you can't even tell me that this was their plan all along because it wasn't, there was nothing that indicated that they were planning this the whole time until the theories started rolling in and they started taking the "Adrien is a sentimonster" route. They ran out of ideas themselves. I mean just look at all the filler eps and how people's character development *cough cough CHLOE* just got tossed aside, they didn't know what else to do so they relied on the fandom to do it for them, they just went along with whatever was popular theory-wise so they would attract more people to the show, and they just went with it instead of actually focusing on making a good story. I mean to be quite honest though, if you asked me what character had any substantial growth or development at all, I would have to say none, because there just wasn't, I mean take this finale for example where Gabriel didn't better himself or change at all, just disappeared, where Adrien's own development was tossed aside so they could take the easy way out and just call him a "sentimonster" instead, or even way back when, when Chloe started to have development but they just threw it out for literally no reason. (What's even funnier about that is that that whole arc and time of the show was really the best it ever was and where it had the highest potential, and it was when Astruc was not currently working on the show and Jeremy Zag took over, hmm I wonder why the movie seems so much better than the show 🤔) The writing of this show became so garbage, and it really is sad because I remember watching the first seasons of this show when I was much younger and being so excited at where this was going to go, only for it to end up like this. If they just worked harder on actually writing well and fleshed out the characters, this could have been so much better. From what I've seen of the Miraculous movie produced only by ZAGTOON, it is everything that this concept could have been and should have been, with actual time, effort, and passion being put in to make a good story that doesn't need to have cheap plot twists and drama to keep it going. (EDIT: the movie actually wasn't the best, still better than the show but disappointing)

what´s worse is that the writers justify chat noir not being in the ultimate fight against gabriel by saying that it would end like chat blanc when the purpose of that episode was to show that there´s a right moment for everything, and the circumstances of the finale were different to the ones in chat blanc, the characters had gone through different experiences and developed so it doesn't make any sense why they left adrien out when it was his battle to fight

It's a bit off topic but ... some of you remember when Marinette didn't have any problem to travel and find Adrien around China with her skills, so how didn't she come out with the same idea when he went to London? Because of how untouched on the sentikids thing has been my current theory is that Felix and Adrien are half sentimonsters. And that their eggs were created by the peacock miraculous (inside their mums) and then did the rest the normal way.

When I watched the Part 2 finale (rather skimmed through) there were some comments like “It's good that Gabe made the right thing!”, “Finally he redeemed!“, “I'm so proud of him!“ like,…WHAT?? How can ANYONE see this as “good” act?? He is the villain and WON. He did EVIL things. Getting his wish was NOT an act of redemption… it would have been if he would give up on it…HE DIDN'T. Miraclous really has gone down hill for awhile, what was a fun slice of life superhero show with good characters, has become the adventures of a will they won't they with a stalker that have been releasing bad to okay episodes for the past 2 seasons. I miss old ladybug

You see one of the main reasons that kept me watching the show for as long as I can remember is that I wanted to know how Adrien's life gonna be after realizing that his own father was the one he fought all along. But no he was in the background all the finale and being stucked there. At first I was so mad that how they could let this go.. This was the exact thing that kept me interested in the show for years. But now I just can't get over the fact the Gabe just does not exist anymore. I'm sad. This was way too dark. Keeping your son in a prison like that. And umm.. Yeah I'm quite liking the idea of him being in the background. You see for a good plot for him realizing the truth so much work and plot building should have been done prior to the point. So what they did made sense to me. The plot building wasn't strong enough to support him finding out.

I actually enjoyed the finale. Not that it was amazing but because it was so out there. The entire time i was so confused with everything. Like why is adrien not here? Why is lila there? Why did natalie take so long to shoot Gabriel? Why did they still not reveal their identities yet?

Is it weird to say that this is the PERFECT finally for Miraculous? It just embodies the terrible hypocrisy (on top of just bad writing) the show has had for quite a while now.

I have stopped actually watching this show a long time ago, and by that I mean the second episode of season 5 which wasn't that long ago but sure feels it. Anyway, everything I hear about how Gabe is Handled is giving me major 'Severous Snape' vibes. Or 'Look that monster felt bad for his own mistakes, that makes him a hero despite years of emotional abuse, bullying and overall sucking 400 billion kinds of ass.' And I'm not okay with that. Also serioussly, is Adrient SERIOUSSLY! Left out of the final fight against Hawk Moth!?

After this finale, it just feels like the writers used the Representation ep as an excuse to explain Gabriel's backstory to the viewers only. Really, because Marinette completely forgets the Felix's story and the sentimonster plot line isn't mentioned once (except right at the end of part 2 but it has no actual impact since Adrien knows fuck all about Monarch being his dad and that those rings control him).

There's also fact how the wish worked doesn't make sense. In Ephemeral Gabe call out unification of Tiki and Plagg but in the finale it was a ritual. So we basically were told that anyone who got hold of the miraculouses will get to make a wish but actually you need to know a ritual which was haven't been mentioned ever. (This part is Spoiler of movie) The reveal and redemption of Gabriel on the movie made more sense than all of the S5 put together.

I agree that this was not a good finale. 4/10 overall imo. My points for part 1: - Big shame that Adrien doesn't have anything to do at all with the finale. Huge waste. I don't mind Marinette/Ladybug getting the Cat Miraculous to face Gabe, but I would've loved for Adrien/Astrocat to be hidden somewhere in Paris (maybe he should've ran away for real instead of returning to London in the previous episode) and do something in part 2, like convincing his dad to give him freedom - Big waste that Marinette didn't talk with Alya when it comes to Felixs reveal. Instead of Mylene refusing to wear the Alliance ring and having to convince the friend group to take off their rings (and fail), it seems like that should've been Alyas job once she knows Gabe is Monarch and he made the rings - Weird that Gabe never used the charm and cataclysm wound before in any of his previous plans to track the heroes. He has those things for a while now, so why only use it now? In conclusion, this episode has a lot of wasted potential

So Gabriel get redeemed rather than being punish after he made the wish but not Chloe. I'm seriously getting sick of sympathy villains getting redemption because some of the actions are too unforgivable to become a reformed villain. Belos from the owl house who is the main villain in the serie, gets punishes for his cruelty and his genocidal plans of wiping all witches. How come the abusive parents get redeem like they don't deserve it because Gabriel neglected Adrian, keep him imprisoned and not hang out with his friends and he's does not get punishes since he's also responsible for turning people into supervillains just to get Ladybug and cat noir miraculous.

I have just completely given up on watching the show at this point. You are the only reason I know what is going on now, so thank you for suffering through this show.

I think at this point, miraculous ladybug is a dead franchise or a walking killed by its own creators... Just like what Darth Kennedy the Disastrous did to Star Wars, And now Indiana Jones.

This is a really strange finale. If you'd take every two-parter of the show in isolation and try to evaluate all of them, this one might be the best. It has a lot of action, awesome cinematic cameras, a good plan from the villains for which they've actually been working instead of being opportunistic, and there were lots of deeper emotions from characters. Throughout it all you know that this is supposed to be more than your standard episode, heck, more than your standard finale. You know that whatever happens, it's going to seriously LAST. The main thing that I 100% don't like about it is the sudden ending and what followed. I'll not spoil anything else for the next episode, but since you already talked about Adrien's absence and Gabe's death, I'll throw in my two cents: The big final fight that's happening this episode is fantastic and a completely logical conclusion to the story, if you look at it from one perspective. Whether you like it or not, Hawk Moth, Shadow Moth and Monarch have been Ladybug's villain throughout all of the show. From the beginning of Origins it's her who declares she's going to take his Miraculous. It's she who has the power to purify Akumas and repair damage, undoing everything that Hawk Moth has done. He always curses her name at the end of an episode, even in those where he doesn't mention Chat Noir. And he stole the Miraculous that she was supposed to protect. Hawk Moth just hasn't really done anything against Chat Noir. In a sense, he's even helped him by allowing him an excuse to ditch his schedule and become his inner, free self whenever there's an Akuma to fight. Having Ladybug fight Monarch by using the Yin-Yang powers that he wants to steal, while he has all the other Miraculous of the Box at his disposal, just makes sense. It's the ultimate showdown, the two most powerful Miraculous in the Box, the only ones still in her possession, versus the rest of them in a fight to the death. It really works as the ultimate final showdown. Problem is, Monarch is Gabriel, and Gabriel is Adrien's villain. Gabriel has denied him a normal life from the very beginning of his existence. He withheld him from school, nano manages his schedule, denies him a relationship with the girl he loves, and he controls him using the wedding rings. For most of the show, Adrien has tried to become a normal boy with friends and hobbies instead of this mannequin who's to pose as his father wishes. Especially throughout this season, they've been building up to Adrien finally gaining true free will by standing up to his father. Now, here comes the problem. In a season that got kickstarted by Shadow Moth finally getting a victory over Ladybug, and where every episode shows the effects of this victory, it makes sense that they focus on the Ladybug vs Monarch angle in the finale. I think they've nailed the finale on this front. But when you have a death match and have Monarch actually die, you automatically remove any possibility of Adrien getting his version of this final fight with Gabriel. That's why this finale is good in an isolated form, and works rather well on a season level, but completely falls apart at the show level. As it stands now, Adrien will never be able to truly get any closure with his dad at all (unless they give him some moments with the good Gabe from that special or have Adrien engage in a reunion with him via a Kwagatama, both being imperfect solutions). My guess is that they've written the finale first, from the Ladybug vs Monarch perspective as I've described, thinking that it'd fit as an ending to season 5. But then they realised the part about the Adrien vs Gabriel conflict being unable to happen. Since they've already decided that they wanted Ladybug to unify both the Miraculous (maybe even already made the super expensive 3D model, this show's production is an absolute mess) and were already busy writing the episodes where Adrien leaving Paris was a big part of the plot, they decided to leave the finale in tact. The Adrien vs Gabriel conflict was instead being addressed in episode 24. Chat Noir is taking everything the Collector (real name escapes me at the moment) was saying way more personal than usual despite knowing that akumatized villains usually exaggerate their emotions. They keep talking about "how I wish you would act if you were my father/son" all the time, name calling and all that. The problem here is that they can't find out so as to not make it illogical with the finale, and now the impact is next to none. That's why they made it vague and short. Since this sequence now only takes up half an episode and can't feature too much of Ladybug, they needed to have Marinette do something else. They made the subplot of Feligami telling their origin story to Marinette, and decided to go with extreme vagueness and weird analogies when they realised that Felix's connection to the Agrestes would give it away. Then they were happy with the concept of the episode and moved on to work on other episodes. Some completely different writer looked through the episode, realised that Felix being too vague would detract from the message, and made it a little less vague. Problem is, this is now too clear of a message and the monkeys on typewriters that call themselves writers completely forgot why they wanted it to be so extremely vague. That last crack theory is the only reason how they managed to make stuff that's so good and so bad simultaneously

I was so mad at the finale that Adrien got to do nothing with Gabe and defeating him.

The big problem of the finale is that 60% of the screemtime is devoted to either irrelevant fight scene or the Alliance grunts getting miraculized while it could be focused on Adrien/backstory about his past or to EXPLAIN what the wish was exactly! Because of tha the entire fandom is tearing apart 😒

I genuinely liked the finale..- except for the fact that Gabriel’s seen as a hero, I agree with that. And Tsurugi going away is just no as well, other than that, the finale imo I loved it.-

Adrien being treated like a damsel in distress even though hes the second most important character along with being the one with the complexed relationship with his father💀what does marinette have to do with gabriel in order for it to be an emotional fight? nothing. shes just there to be Adriens night in shining armour and to just remind us that, in fact, adrien is still a relevant character and shes doing everything for him even tho he is not even there in the finale💀

How I felt about it was really ridiculous. The writers started off with Marinette trying to find out who Hawk Moth was in the Collector episode but then hit a dead end. Not dealing with the storyline for a while. But then brought it back when it came to finale of Season 5. There's a lot of things about this show that has not been talked about. For instance, How did Natalie and Gabriel meet each other? Will Marinette ever tell Adrien she's the one who wrote the Valentine's day card to him? Will she ever talk about her past relationship with Kim? So many things like this haven't been talked about. And now since Gabriel is made his wish and disappeared? Adrien will never learn or know that his father was Monarch. I feel like in the next season or later on in the show, he's going to find out everything Marinette has been hiding or better yet his father's identity and the other miraculous holders' secret identities.

I've been watching Miraculous Ladybug from season 1 knowing the ending would be satisfactory. I can't feel the satisfaction, I want more. I want to see Adrian go 1 on 1 with Gabriel and see Marinette brighter than portrayed or even hear Emily speak for half of the ending. I know I'm not the only one who wants this

I hate how literally every song character from every special had more development in the final than the son of mocarch himself. WHAT? I really hope Adrien finds out next season and like… idk gets akumatized and- breaks up with marinette for a bit causing her to get humbled 🥲 I saw this in a different comment but it would be cool if Lila was the one who told Adrien the truth of who monach is, what the wish was, about cat blanc and basically every lie told by marinette. I really need to see that. I also want to see Adrien in his villian arc, maybe he will work with Lila for a bit:0 Yeah probably not

I’m so pissed that Adrien/Chat Noir is NOT ALLOWED TO DO ANYTHING! Instead of being a partner and a capable hero he’s just made to be a damsel in distress. When literally the entire plot is everyone in the damn attests household yet Adrien isn’t even allowed to be informed at least. If anyone's wondering how bad Adrien and Kagami's London cell thingies are, Michael 'Vsauce' Stevens, a full grown adult, and probably one of the smartest and wisest youtuber, voluntarily went to similar scenario for ONE DAY, and almost lost his mind.

It made sense to me that Adrien / Chat Noir got sidelined- because the show has shown us million times that if Adrien learns the truth- he will get akumatized- and it will trigger the end of the world one way or another. Perhaps- the writers couldn’t think of any other scenario than what they already fed us.

It almost seems like they need to make another show where they Cat Noir as the first name so he can actually do something. Poor guy isn’t even treated as a human he’s just treated more like a toy or machine. Yes he’s a senti beast but surely they can do him some justice and not treat him like it.

This finale could've been the greatest of all time. Look, I logically get WHY Adrien wasn't there. But to THEN HAVE HIM GLORIFY HIS ABUSER AND PUT MARINETTE IN A MORALLY COMPROMISING SITUATION IS SO GROSS! It would be extremely ooc for Mari to hold onto this secret for long so this plotline will likely lead into Adrienette angst in S6 and beyond but yeah. This finale gets 5/10. It had its moments and for this universe it works but GOD! I feel like 8 years of my investment just got tossed away!

So get this: According to anonymous sources close to Zag, the original ending of this season was a lot more simple: Adrien breaks out of London with the help of Felix and flies to Paris to assist in Ladybug defeating Monarch, thus revealing himself to Marinette and Gabriel as Chat Noir. There’s a large amount of Adrien angst as Gabe is revealed as Hawk Moth, and Gabe tries to control Adrien to take the Ladybug miraculous so he can revive Emilie. Ultimately, Adrien rejects Gabe’s mind control and refuses. Gabe goes to prison, Emilie is allowed to die in peace, and Natalie gives Adrien some comforting advice before passing away. Ultimately, Adrien gains his freedom but loses everything else, reinforcing the whole “There’s a price for every wish” narrative. Both him and Marinette are thoroughly traumatized, but find comfort in each other as the season ends. The last shot of the season is Lila finding the Butterfly Miraculous in the ruins of the Agreste Manor. So, why was this ending scrapped you might ask? Well, the studio that produces Miraculous Ladybug is based in Brazil, which has a very high crime rate. There were reportedly concerns from the studio execs that sending the main villain to prison would alienate kids in the Brazilian community who had parents sent to prison. In other words, the dumbest reason I’ve ever heard of. As a result, the original ending was scrapped in favor of a rushed redemption arc for Gabe. Adrien’s character arc was scrapped as well.

I don’t buy it that technology alone could have made these people so stupid, I’m convinced that the rings injected people and made them high. Also shooting Gabe earlier in the seasons could’ve worked since he was a known recluse and even Adrien (his own son!) could barely see him.

Alot of problems with the finale but what really gets me is that ADRIEN WILL NEVER KNOW MONARCH WAS HIS FATHER- LIKE-

Loved the action sequences, but I just can’t get past the fact that I wasted years into this first arc nonsense, got teased with two “reveal” episodes where they act like Gabriel getting his wish is the worst outcome ever only for Gabriel to win and be crowned hero… WITHOUT ADRIEN EVER FINDING OUT !! OR WITHOUT ANY IDENTITY REVEAL FROM MARINETTE/ADRIEN !! Just so stupid and useless… I watched the Awakening movie with subtitles and I believe Jeremy Zag made a far more realistic ending for this sort of story, I just hate how everything ended up playing out

Honestly, I enjoyed the finale sure I was a little disappointed that Adrian got left out so did Felix and Kagami mean I know they explained everything to Marinette but they still could find a way to be in the finale and it's blatantly dumb how she forgot everything they told her about the peacock miraculous and Gabe she could piece it together but no she was too busy worrying about her boyfriend to do anything. But besides that, the finale was still really good I cried at the ending a little bit and the action was entertaining and exciting but remembering Gabriel as a hero and the fact Marinette build his statue is just why? 😖

I just hope they start anew from this point. 💀 This is a chance for them to come back on track. Hope Thomas doesn’t ruin the whole thing again.
