I haven't finished the video, but I want to bring this up. Jim giving Toby the Trollhunter role is one of the most brutal character assassinations I have ever seen. He has already seen exactly what happens when he is not the Trollhunter, back in Season 2. That episode is key to his character development in the first series. And by doing that, it takes away all of his development in the film. Whether the job is hard or not, Jim *knows* that it needs to be him. What was the point of giving him the arc of questioning himself as the Trollhunter (for the third time, mind you), getting over it, but only to give up that role? It goes against everything we know about Jim as a character and turns him into such a selfish character as a result.

Something that's kinda been stuck in my head is what if both Jim and Toby fail and keep rewinding time so that the other was the trollhunter therefore the show is an infinite time loop. Of course I know its highly unlikely but its still pretty fun to think about

The episode Unbecoming meant nothing then. That whole episode was dedicated to telling Jim why Merlin chose him to be the Trollhunter. The world is doomed if he wasn't. I know it was Draal in that example but Toby would be ten times worse. If Jim really did have to go back in time (he shouldn't) at least still keep the amulet. Also, I'm still hoping the reason why Toby has the amulet is to give it to Jim. After all, it never told Toby to "rise and become".

Honestly, if Tobi somehow manages to defeat Bular, manages to defeat Angorot, and everything else leading to Merlin's Tomb, it would be amazing if Merlin recognizes Jim as the true Trollhunter and gives Jim the Amulet back.

I hated the movies ending, for one very simple reason: The Franchise Didn't wimp out before then. if someone died they stayed dead, Jim got stuck as a troll and yes that was undone, several seasons of shows later. The movie, one character (Who I wasn't a huge fan of, didn't hate him but I wasn't exactly extatic everytime he showed up.) dies, and that warrents undoing the show? Serioussly? Did those other guys who died not matter as much? I just... look the ending sucks, we know the reasons why just... urgh.

I’m glad somebody said it, The plan would have worked, had Jim Remained the Troll hunter. It would cut out the training of Toby, it is very likely that he and Drall would get along much Quicker, Strickler would become his ally much quicker, and all in all, It would turn out better, cause Venda might still be alive

My personal headcanon, somehow, someway this new timeline happens very similar to the old timeline when Jim was the trollhunter...i guess with no deaths like Jim wanted...But in the final battle, Jim dies instead of Toby. Toby goes back in time, and he Jim becomes the trollhunter....basically a paradox.

Remember how right before Jim reset time, he said, “If it’s meant to be, it will be?” Wouldn’t that mean all the bad stuff that happened was meant to be? All the catastrophes? All the deaths? So there’s really no point in going back in time to try and prevent them, because they’re going to happen one way or another.

If Jim Still has the amulet from the original timeline we could have two troll hunters, fighting together with one wheeled in Excalibur and the other reeled in the sword of daylight really given the villain to run for their money

I know I'm ten months late but... I think there is some brilliance in this ending, actually. Consider the times Jim chose "maintaining the lie" over "addressing the problem" which almost ALWAYS escalated the issue. Toby doesn't have the physical prowess to survive many of the challenges that were presented to *Jim* ... but while Toby did often get roped into trouble and need saving, Jim now isn't nearly the *risk* that Toby was in combat situations. He will be an asset. He has foreknowledge of so many of their enemies, even if events drastically change. He can now spot the warning signs so much sooner too, which can allow them so much more of an edge in overcoming them. Toby has regularly shown a knack for engaging many of the trolls in their various walks of life in a casual and often relatable sense. But JIM was the Trollhunter, so if *Toby* asked them to rally, they've connected with him, not because he is strong... but because he is not selfish. While Jim has valor, skill, and measures of cunning, earning respect of a few trolls through the trials of strength... *Toby* has heart, humility, and an often infectious enthusiasm (... and apparently tasty socks *[shudders]* ...). Toby has so much less "going on" in his life... this is why he was able to play support for Jim in "maintaining the lie" but now, as a "nobody" by comparison, he will be even harder to keep out of Troll business. Jim can even use the knowledge he has to occasionally bait-and-switch assassins, claiming to be trollhunter to a known enemy's face, then being said bait. Being Trollhunter now when Toby meets the swamp trolls will be a turning point too. The already kindred spirit that Toby *is* gets amplified across trollkind as even the *whispers* of being a reincarnated troll bolsters their connections. This would further slow the machinations of their enemies as they'd have to try harder to divide the tribes and hide their efforts(like certain high levels of troll betrayers?) Jim CAN be orchestrating elements in the background to prime Blinkus with specific knowledge to hasten his moves to answers when they are needed. Potentially wile Strickler into believing in Toby, not by showing proof of his knowledge of events-to-come, but by giving Strickler *superior options* because he knows what Bular will do regardless of *when* he is released. Spurning the changlings, Strickler would now have an open door to walk through instead of a struggle of trust when it comes time to switch sides as he'll see that Jim, and Toby, are genuine. All the while, Jim doesn't have to know every explicit occurrence to come and others may die, even preparing countermeasures that 'may yet be needed' against the larger foes to come may be enough to save far more people when the greater threats arrive in force. If he *could* convince Toby of aspects of his foreknowledge, this can also aid in rallying these forces sooner. All this without distracting Toby too much from his own "matters at hand." It was often many of *his* questions that brought Jim the answers they needed, so now he'll not only reach those conclusions on his own, he'll have the power and authority to act on it immediately. Jim often tried to overcome most of the challenges with his skill, cunning, and a small specialized team while selfishly maintaining an illusion of his old life, "It's up to me." You *cannot* unite a world that way. "It's up to us." Jim often got stuck questioning if he's right to be the Trollhunter because it was so overwhelming. Now... when *Toby* does so, Jim's not constrained to the darkness like Blinkus was. He can Help Toby through it... *anytime...* because he's lived it. And the trolls will be far more ready to cooperate and trust Toby, rather than Jim, because they know he's not strong, but his heart is in the right place and wishes for the wellbeing of all trollkind, and they can trust *that.* (Plus I mean, He befriended a gnome, maybe he could do it again... and that gnome could bring friends... powerful ally those little miscreants.) I'll get off my soapbox now. I completely understand the upset and some sense of betrayal, and as such I'm GLAD they didn't immediately continue some spin-off series after the movie, but it was a stronger note to end on than I think some people realize. The level of depth and potential is noteworthy in my opinion, but I also understand the disappointment.

I believe that Jim still has his new amulet, and I think it wasn't shown on purpose. It has been made clear that Merlins amulet doesn't make mistakes so if it chose Jim as the trollhunter in the first timeline it should do the same in every timeline unless Jim has already an amulet so now the amulet(Merlins one) has to find the second best being to become the trollhunter which is apparently Toby. I don't know if Toby is the best character to become the trollhunter, but I think Jim will work alongside Toby and not just guide him. I was very disappointed with the movie's end and still believe that emphasizing on Tobys sacrifice would have been better I really want to hope that this is not the actual end of the series and they will continue in the future and if they decide to do so I would like to see a new narrative and not what already happened in the previous timeline with Toby being the trollhunter

I mean you ain’t wrong the ending felt more like Jim giving Toby the power because of his trauma. The only thing he can fix is starting to put some details on the right track but past that there is nothing new he can fix it honestly would have been better if he stayed as the troll hunter instead he has all the training and knowledge. However that’s thinking from a logical standpoint however let’s look at it from a business perspective they got as much as they could from Jim being the Troll Hunter and if they wanted to milk more money or views it would be hard to write a new script where Jim didn’t just wrap up the antagonist quickly thus making any new character development seem kinda stale as it would realistically be “okay we need pla never mind Jim just beat him good job” don’t get me wrong I’d still watch it but there would be so little they could do with all the other characters

I think would off preferred a time skip ending 5 or 10 year after the final battle we how things are going with our hero after the world discovered aliens, wizards and Trolls.

I feel that the 12th configuration of the amulet is saying tat each character that was touching/looking at it each need to be there own troll hunter as it requires the powere of all of them as troll hunters to stop this horrible outcome

I was really sad because I was very sad that such a great series ended like this. I have always looked at TrollHunters with the heart of one of the best series. Even though three below and the wizards were a little more in the background, they were still very good series. But in the last movie, I think they were silly. They killed too many people And it was ridiculous. Come on, I understand nomura and others but STRICKLER!?Did they really think they could kill the titan written in the legends in the books with a grenade? Besides, all the old things we watched don't matter by taking the time to the top, right? I mean, just because it was wanted to be shown as the last movie, too many characters were killed and I think the story flow is strange and does not suit a series like Tales of Arcadia.

I have a theory. First we must look at the movie end carfully. They say it clearly "only the trollhunter will remember". Then JIm puts the stone in his New amulet and go back in time. Then Jim weaks up and he still remember what happend. This means he still IS the trollhunter. But here comes the twist. He is the trollhunter with the green amulet. But all the trollhunters (the spirits) will remember this who alredy lives in the amulet and they know that now they got two amulet and a chance to get two trollhunters. They already see that the human trollhunters can be more powerfull than any trolls and they know Toby can be a good fighter with proper trainin and with Jim as his teacher he can live up to that potential. Plus he will be a fierce protector of the trolls better then Jim because Jim did it becasue of his sense of duty but Toby will do it from passion. Thats why they call to him. Now we have two trollhunters. One with the knowledge with the alternate timeline, skills what he don't need to learn just get in to better shape and get some muscles. And the dedication to make a better world And one whit the heart for all magic creature who will be the moral giude. With this combination even if Toby wont be as strong as Jim or be a better trollhunters they still got way better chances to do what they need to do to change everything to the better

i Love toby but he didn't get along with Claire Nomura and Probably Wouldn't get along with Draal, i still pumped for the Shorts they were never confirmed but i am not losing hope either way until then the Movie isn't canon to me

Honestly the time travel thing is such a cop out. They saved the world. Did they lose a lot of their friends along the way? Yes. But every god damn one of them knew the risks. Toby, Draal, Vendel, all of them knew. Resetting the timeline in the first place was disrespectful to their memories. They won so their sacrifices meant something. All of them would have rather stayed dead than take that chance. And on top of this Jim signs Toby up to be the guy in the most danger because this shit killing him once wasn’t enough. I know what they were going for but I’d rather they found a McGuffin artifact from the crazy world ending wizards that had enough power to bring their friends back somehow(or maybe just Toby cause he really was kind of the last straw on who you could kill in this series to make us feel it so hard. It wasn’t gonna be Claire.) Seriously we’ve seen crazy shit from this series and Arrrgh already showed they are willing to do a character resurrection.

I didn't like the ending because it's not far Aja an Steve for there relationship an love one's like the Seven children they had. I hope Trollhunters does return for a new Series. I hope Aja an Steve get back together.

This just makes really upset that I’ll never have have a reset button when needed, they should have just stuck with the hard life ending m, or should have just totally not have killed so many of the protagonists and made a feel good ending, because I’m just baffled by the ending they chose tbh!

In the merlin dream he did actually walk into stricklers office and change him right off the bat so if that is cannon on how it would actually go down then he technically can do that

I really hated this kind of ending. I have seen this weirdly in three or four other shows where the main character goes back in time and does something so different that the choices don't matter and every death that happens or relationship made meant nothing. It just makes you feel like you wasted XXX amount of time in the show with world building and character relationships going out the window.

I always love those what if concepts on how things could change if certain characters took in a different role, but I felt like they should have just explored that in an episode or so. Instead they left people to wonder and as everyone else has said, it basically throws everything else we've seen and come to love out the window. Or at least they could have given us another spin off series to show what it's like with Toby as the TrollHunter. But no it just...felt like a slap in the face. At first when I saw the movie I was pretty wow'd by giving the fat character a chance, since fat characters are usually played off as jokes in shows and rarely the heroic protagonist. Yet the more I thought about it and saw other reviews, I can agree it's disappointing to essentially erase all the development we saw with the universe in which Jim is the Trollhunter.

I hope that in the new timeline, Jim can convince Morgana to go over to the good side against the common enemy: the occult order. May Jim make Morgana into a heroine!

Jim honestly could have gone to any point of time in the past and used his knowledge to make a better outcome. He could have gone back to the beginning of the movie and get Excalibur and get all his allies together to fight and defeat the Arcane order before they had a chance to unleash the Titans.

I think that a final battle is innevitable, but many casualtys can be avoided. Of course, someone will probably die, but maybe they would be able to reduce the casualties.

I’ve been thinking, like, if Tony fails and ends up doing what Jim did and going back in time, and we can assume Jim won’t remember that second time, then won’t Toby notice how different Jim acts in Tobys rewind? Like, Jim would definitely have to behave differently when he went back in time in order to try and keep things in line, so when Toby goes back and finds he doesn’t act like that, it’s probably gonna be an “oh crap” moment if he figures out what it means. That’s assuming Jim doesn’t tell them he went back in time previously.

I was in love with the trollhunters series and didn't like the movie. It just made all of the character development, all the heartships and special moments go away. And Jim didn't want to be the trollhunter anymore after all that? I call BS! And with this he is putting himself more on the spot than if he just went through all that again. I mean think about it : he will always be stressing, always thinking "did I pick the right person" "did I tell him the right thing". And what if someone still dies? He will feel like sh*t afterwards. So in short don't like it, doesn't make sense. Love the video though smarty pants ❤

Me when I first saw that ending: I'm not f🤬ing watching a series where the friend is the troll hunter, sure he helped out a lot with some aspects but Jim carried that show, no way in hell this is gonna be good

Yea I'm sorry but I'm not a fit person myself ( not as much as Toby but still) I know how much harder it is to do certain things, also yea he litterly gets better at fighting only thnaks to that gravity cursed hammer. On top of that I just don't think Toby is a protagonist material expecially at the beggining he is rather silly, unfocused, vain and cowardly, which okey but Jim was cowardly but could surpass his fear while Toby at that time mostly ran and seeked attention. Not saying that I don't like Toby but he is just not such a great protagonist material :/ he works great as a sidekick and he should rlly stay one. I can still rewatch Trollhunters and still enjoy it (except for the parts with Merlin in it. He is just "UGH!") I treat the ending of ROTT the same way the Madrigal family treated Bruno: I don't talk about it (without singing*) *I MEAN IT!

I never even saw the movie, I watched the show and was satisfied so I watched the "spin-off" shows as well and enjoyed them, so glad I never heard about the movie/watched it (still haven't, this video is all I know about it at this point), don't want the ending and stories I got to get ruined by this. Sounds like an interesting idea but ultimately a poorly made one from a writing perspective. In universe I think it makes sense for Jim to try and change the way things went, but I don't think making Toby the Trollhunter would've been the greatest idea, but even then maybe he just forgot what Toby was like at the beginning of their original journey (i.e. cowardly, irresponsible, not good under pressure, etc. Granted Jim had things to overcome as well, so this can easily be made into a useless argument, but he had these "negative" traits stronger than Jim did, it was a token of his character in the early seasons). The only way this decision could be made into a viable and satisfying plot point is if they made a "reboot" of the series where Jim advises him on what to do and basically becomes his mentor about all of those things. It would be very cool if it was also written in a way and had the development to make the fans/audience believe that this was the goal from the very beginning, but it feels like there was no prior foreshadowing to this idea, so it would be a steep challenge to overcome. (Not to mention how do you make the villains we watched Jim struggle against and eventually defeat in grand and satisfying victories to go against again fun to watch? There would have to be changes made from the villain's perspective, making them somehow more powerful or showing off how threatening they really are/were from a new perspective since Jim has the answers to the original conflict.) But even if they managed something like that, I personally did not care for Toby as a character. To me he was Jim's best friend and confidant who always tried to support him throughout the series, he definitely got infinitely better when he got the hammer, but otherwise, I don't think I could watch a show with him as the primary focus (especially if he starts off the same as he was from season one, which he obviously would) unless they came at his development from a different angle. Definitely possible now that he is taking the "main character" spot, but I guess it's something we will never get to see. The show was phenomenal though, loved every second of it.

Well in my perspective, Jim learned from all his journeys, that he wasn't the true Trollhunter, it was truly meant for Toby. He didn't want to lose his bestfriend and gave up everything and chose to turn back time. Now he doesn't need those power, based from his experiences, he can do just fine without them. He gained confidence, maturity, selflessness and other life lessons. He even paired his mother with Walter, and convinced that he can make him switch sides again. And has the courage to be in a play, which he wouldn't have done at the beginning of the story. Jim's role in this time line is to be Toby's... well Toby, he will be there like he did for him. A pillar to shoulder his problems, and a friend that he could count on. And since he believes that he knows how most of the things will turn out, he can solve it just he did back then, and even if certain events change, he can just improvise as things goes on.

You can't change fate, if Toby is going to die, he's going to die one way or another

one of the main things I would have hoped for if Jim made Toby become the trollhunter would be and this is a BIG IF, if he was able to keep his amulet from the failed timeline. I felt like Jim mainly did this because Toby wasn't protected by any sort of armor and thus he wanted Toby to be protected with something. if this would have happened this definitely would have allowed Jim to have some kind of proof and have him be there to train and fight side by side with Toby, but then this would change things yet again with there being 2 Trollhunters at once but it'd give for a whole other story to follow where Jim takes the active mentor role.

at this point the only way to redeem the ending is with a new Toby Trollhunter series

Every time I think about this ending I’m mad

Anybody else hella disappointed that Wizards was really only used to set up the movie and not just Douxie’s story leading up to the events of the movie. It felt like after 3Below they just completely gave up on the series and made it super simplified and like a “little little kid show”. I understand the constraints they were under thanks to Netflix, but I’d much rather have had an actual Wizards series. I don’t think anyone would really complain if the movie didn’t exist. If they just made the actual Wizards series about Douxie then they could’ve left it open ended, then maybe have gotten a movie later on. Or vise versa, have the movie happen before the events of Wizards, but have Douxie go back in time instead of Jim. Feels like it would’ve made more sense to send the wizard that kinda lurked in the back (had seemingly important cameos) in the other two shows to possibly end up in a loop of going back in time to make minor changes and interact with the different characters, just hoping to create a timeline where they can keep everyone alive and (if possible) stop the arcane order before the apocalypse events. The cameos we got in troll hunters and 3Below could’ve been expanded on (always thought it was kinda weird that Douxie just kinda automatically knew who everyone was and they all knew him, which is probably just due to rushed or lazy writing with plot holes), if the events of trollhunters and 3Below wasn’t the first timeline, it would explain why he already kinda knew everyone, plus we could see him planning interactions with everyone (why he just kinda seems to always be working at event type places).

i think that if there is a sequel then it would be that jim actually fainted after he struck down belroc and fell down (i mean he did get hit pretty brutally and also after he escaped the darklands he didnt want the amulet anymore so unkar showed him what would have happened if he didnt pick it up) so toby dying and him travelling to the past was just a nightmare so he would just continue his earthly duties doing the "for the good of all daylight is mine to command" thing and not messing up timelines

Here's how I think this would go Toby's version would be completely different like you said and would end the same. Jim would have told Toby what he did and in Toby's version of the movie he would go back in time just like him. Then Jim and everybody else would live the show again with Toby being a slight help and then they would win with Jim is the troll Hunter. Or it would be an endless time loop of them giving it back and forth to each other having to relive it over and over again.

Okay I know I’m a year late and you won’t read this or make a theory about this but does anybody notice that blinky is telling the story at the beginning or the movie, so does he remember, did things workout and Jim became troll hunter again or did Jim tell them all and things did good. Frankly, the most jarring part is...why, when you've retained all of your memories of your past life, would you choose to relinquish the pivotal role that gives you the greatest control over how it plays out? They killed his character, and had him make a blatantly ridiculous decision in the long run just to give Toby the same experience he struggled time and time again to come to terms with. It's dumb, and a betrayal of the "destiny" that the story rubbed in his face. On the subject of destiny, picking up the amulet wouldn't mean anything for Toby anyhow since the amulet specifically chose Jim too, which Jim should've at least suspected would happen given how many times he revisits that same character arc. Basically, you assassinate every character every character (narratively and "literally" by technicality) just for Jim to orchestrate an event that NARRATIVELY WIOULDN'T EVEN WORK, just to have Toby experience it all instead...way to pass off your trauma Jim, who know they'd turn you into a jerk who shirks his responsibilities onto others?

Ya know a lot of people were upset by the samurai jack. I myself, got it I didn’t really like it, I was also sad. But I got it. No aku, no doomed future, no aku cult,no ashi. What’s more jack had to go back centuries, maybe even millennia, to truly win against aku. The future would change because of this Ya know what could have saved the ending? Just send Jim back 18 hours at least! There was nothing that said they couldn’t use the time stone thing to just go back later in the day, do a bit of a speed run (with things being better) and rap up in the same style of regular show.

I may've like the rest of the Tales of Arcadia series, but the only episodes I don't liked(but I respect your opinions) are "Becoming: Part 1"(better known as "The Amulet"), "Wherefore Art Thee, Trollhunter?"(better known as "Becoming: Part 2"), "Gnome Your Enemy", "Waka Chaka!"(better known as "Impures: Part 1"), and "Win Lose or Draal"(better known as "Impures: Part 2"), all because of the total bullying from Steve. I agree with those who said about rebuilding Tales of Arcadia, totally reducing the bullying(all including the dodgeballs), and reducing the Romeo Steve arcs, despite Jim will take turns as Romeo with someone whose alot like Romiette(like that of Romiette and Juliette) until she decided to leave the roles of Romeo to Jim while Claire remains Juliette, etc.. I also hope Claire should be more stronger as what Jim's been punched, and smarter as what Toby described, so she'll never be naive, and she'll also never fell for the total cons and scams from Steve, just like she'll be alot like herself between Season 1B of Trollhunters and Rise of the Titans, way earlier than before, as she'll decide that her heart goes to Jim, hence she knows Steve's a bad influence to her. Besides, she'll remember what Jim said, especially from the original timeline, where he said that, if it's meant to be, they'll always be here, and here, for each other, in all timelines. Speaking of which, Steve doesn't deserve to be a bully, a con-man, a criminal of the school(even though he's a minor), and he and his father(presumedly) deserved to be the descendants of Sir Lancelot, not to be the ones who are in the cycle of abuse, jealousy, and evilness. Same goes to Coach Koch Steven Lawrence, who he shouldn't be a total neglective, abusive jerk to every students, including Jim, Toby, even rarely Claire, and especially Eli, because if he's that, he should be fired for child abuse. But I don't think he'll be fired, because he's wowed by Toby who he finally climbed the rope and rang the bell, same here with Jim. Principle Levitz doesn't deserve to be killed, so he should never allow child abuse from fellow staff members, and bullying, so he should've suspend Steve from always bullying, until, not only he'll be a better person(less criminal-like, less of a con-man, less greedy, less selfish, less illegal drugs, etc..), also till he's back in the semester where Spring Fling's preparing. In other words, he'll have the configurations he'll get along, are Aja, Krel, Varvatos Vex, Douxie, Archie, Jim, Claire, Blinky, AaArRrGgHh!!!, Draal, Zoe, and Toby, in the alternative timeline, even though Jim thought there's the 9th configuration. In other words, I think Jim should've gone back and made Toby the new Trollhunter. Anyways, I'm still hoping for the Tales of Arcadia shorts, and even the bloopers. They may never be confirmed, but I'm not losing hope, either ways, I felt neutral of the ending of Rise of the Titans.

To answer your last question, I think there'll be more deaths honestly. Or other worst things might happen. It's been shown in the season 2 episode of Trollhunters, "Unbecoming". If not worst, it'll still be a lot different. And as you said, they can't predict all the villians' moves even with Jim's prior knowledge. I've been rewatching the series and I forgot that in the movie, everything reset. So, I'm once again going through the feelings I felt 2 years ago when I watched the movie. I grew up with this series. and as much as I don't like the ending of the series with how the movie ended- feeling like it was rushed and all, this will still be my #1 fave series amongst others in the animation world.

Well giving where the Infracorpula was if they redeem Strikiler which I think Jim was trying to do with inviting him over right away he could convince Strikler to tell him where Angor Rot is and givenhom his soul back so then he won't be interested in killing Troll Hunters anymore and they would gain a POWERFUL ally.

The events that happened in the story literally did not happen just because of the ending, all that character development and adventures that they all had together did not happen at all. It basically took away the main value of the episode Unbecoming, all of that to show why merlin chose jim just to be ruined when toby's name gets called telling us that either jim wasn't any special at all or the plot is revolving around toby now. Jim risked a LOT just for a CHANCE to get a better ending which makes the ending even more worse. Im hoping that the episode Unbecoming is actually just gone from the timeline because if that episode is still true, then that would mean that toby would end up dying just like Draal but this time, it isnt actually a dream.

My biggest gripe about this film is that Wizards didn't set a good enough foundation for it to even have a chance at being super compelling. I honestly think that after Wizards aired the way it aired, there was no chance for this movie to be completely satisfying, because the series it directly follows up also was not satisfying. The Arcane Order are terrible villains in almost every sense, and the way characters die without fanfare makes it pretty obvious that they're going to undo it some way. The time travel and random Mpreg have been complained about to death, so I won't, but this film was honestly just baffling. They started 6 feet under and brought a shovel to dig themselves in deeper.

The amulet knew from the start it would be Jim, he can't just think to go back and have toby find it that it would change anything, the amulete doesnt just choose the first person it sees, and Toby isnt the hero, Jim is, Toby is the true hero, but by coecidence not by destiny, that was meant for Jim, the og timeline is the right one because everyone had the right role, they just took the movie and killed off the wrong people, instead of Toby it could have been arrgamont who saved him, like the book, as well as somone other than strickler dieing since he was to inportant to inportant as jims new dad to die just like that, he didnt die heroically, not like douxies cat (whoms name i forgot) who had a proper heroic death, though someone who again was too important to die, and for asha and krel to loose no one who was inportant to them in the movie

I feel like the movie would be okay if stickler and toby didnt die and jim didnt gi back in time. It still wouldnt be my fav thing but it wouldnt reverse all the development in the series

All I'm saying is if Jim knew that Toby would be in danger of dying, I think that he'd have his back as a sidekick to the trollhunter like Toby was to him when he got the gravity hammer and since he'd have all his former knowledge he'd probably help Toby get ready for these fights

Its not gonna be easy for Toby to fight like a troll hunter..its only possible for Jim..by the way if Jim sent Toby to canals to get the amulent..maybe he did this as he was having his own amulent

Ok but tbf, he confronted Strickler in Unbecoming and he believes him. Even though by that point the eternal night was already brought, and strickler had no relations to barbara which was a big reason he reformed in the first place. So that being said, i absolutely believe that Jim would be able to change stricklers mind long before he summons angor rot, esp since the first thing he did was introduce strickler to his mom.

And what about Jim mental health knowing he failed and that everything he did was for nothing and not having the same place and feeling left out and that he is not as close with everyone as before because he is not the trollhunter he tried so hard

Maybe Jims still has his improved armor and can help with the defeat of bular, angor, gunmar, and stop toby from becoming a troll(?)

Jim had the opportunity to start New Game+ but decided he'd rather let Toby suffer through being the Trollhunter instead.

Didn't Jim get chosen by the amulet not due to him being the one who found it but for who he was I thought that's how that worked? He also won't say what Jim did in some scenarios which could lead to other problems later on. There even was an episode about Jim giving up the amulet to try and live a normal life and he went back to that at the end.

You can tell Jim has problems accepting people he cares dies. He can't let go. And I have theories that it is not the first time everything is reset. Take Merlin's say. He supposedly met Jim when he was an adult but didn't...

One good thing about Toby is that while Jim made many decisions based on his emotions, Toby generally sees things in a more rational way. Maybe he'll be able to choose the option that ends in less damage, as Jim usually didn't. But the ending breaks one of the tenets of the show which is that the amulet chooses the troll hunter.

Literally, Claire would have been a better choice than Toby, if they had to go down this route. At least she's smart and capable, and she immediately charmed all the trolls and was accepted by them the fastest.

I wish they would just say the movie was just a non canon movie it was cool and all but I grew up watching this and it deserves an amazing ending.

i got a lil theory, what if Trollhunters is just an infinite loop? since Toby died, Jim went back in time to give him the mantle, and then later down the line with Toby as the Trollhunter (if he even survives the encounter with Draal, no offense Toby fans,) Jim dies and goes back in time so Jim gets the mantle and it happens all over again

I think if Jim went back in time but actually was the Trollhunter I don’t think Morgana gunmar, or angorot would come out, also Jim could easily beat bular, and maybe use Excalibur to kill morgana if morgana comes out, though I don’t think Jim will be able to change much about the fact that the arcane order are trying to iradicate life

For me i think that they should just make a new addition to Trollhunters going from the end of wizards and just wipe titens out of history

The ending of the movie essentially creates a paradox with the timeline. It doesn't erase Jim and Crew's trip into the past, therefore Jim as a half troll traveled into the past which set up the path for the future events. Like the ending, makes less and less sense the more I think about it it.

Let me just stop you there, Hell no. That ending was a complete joke, an assassination of years of character development and lore. It's like Guillermo is spitting on the fandoms face with his old ass face. Toby wasn't written to be the main character, he's literally the vision of a secondary sidekick. He's the troupe itself!! I feel deeply hurt and struck from this ending. I wish I could wipe this from canon. Ya know what, no. It isn't canon. It's not my or the fandoms ending. What's canon is that the amulet calls to Toby to tell him to give it to Jim. Just to cement the idea that Jim was always ment to be the trollhunters, even in different timelines.

They could have just given an ending of everyone who survived continuing there lives with new hope that they won

They could turn into a new series with the end of the film. Then Jim could wake up again like it was a dream then go at it from there.

It woulda been really interesting if the movie ended with his death and him being the troll hunter would be a spin-off what if series. We could see a lot of different outcomes like what if Jim didn’t go alone into the dark lands and things like that.

No idont think he did. Let's take a look at their Toby's character development he is a loyal goofy friend. And they killed him I still think that the movie should have not done a reset cause now he has doomed his best friend. Jim os the trollhunter he is loyal and strong. Toby is funny but not strong enough.
