I love that you never downplay the strengths or viability of characters that are considered lower tier. Most of my favorite characters are closer to the bottom of all the rankings, so hearing you highlight their strengths and advantages is really refreshing. 10/10 video as always.

For real. I know it comes off as up-playing but whenever characters lower on the tier list are discussed it's only their flaws that are mentioned. It's nice to see someone actually take a lower tier character's strengths seriously (especially since it helps you avoid getting knowledge checked against them).

I think K. Rool is the most fully realized character on the roster. Everything from the moveset to the references, to even small tweaks to his character model like the torn cape bring out so much character and personality. I played him for 5 years straight and hope he's a mainstay for the series

15:31 K Rool's upsmash spike is one of my favorite easter eggs in the game. Only comes out for like 1 frame. My buddy hit me with it totally on accident once and we were speachless for like 30 seconds.

Its the hardest and worse spike in the game. Mainly because its purpose is to keep the consistancy with the one two hitbox on stage. But boy its funny even though you should never intentionally go for it

Finally, something actually hype! I freaking love watching and playing K. Rool in Smash and this video goes over the strengths and flaws of this character (who sadly doesn't get the best rep in higher levels of play because of them). K. Rool plays 1:1 like his boss outings with a few new tricks and some of the funniest animation frames and moves in the whole game which define the amount of soul put into his design that I wish other veterans got a fraction of. High level K. Rool players are the ones I have the most respect for due to them pushing him despite his state. One thing I wish was better handled in his imo amazing design is crown as an item and the pickup lag. Imagine being able to cancel the animation in progress, that could make you zoom with pivots and have more options compared to being screwed for a bit by a design choice, I'd keep it for the animation frames and tech bcz removing tech imo hurts design. Fun fact on neutral special theres a small window where K. Rool can drop through a platform while the move is ending and it looks funny.

At ~ 8:30, you mention that K.Rool's head, feet, and back are vulnerable during Gut Check. He actually has full-body invulnerability during frames 4-15 when the counter is not activated. It seems inconsequential but I've had opponent's attacks whiff the belly but go through the intangible parts relatively often. And that seems good but a lot of characters can still punish after whiffing through the intangibility.

I've been playing this game since release and just now I'm learning you can turn Krool's counter around after hit. Amazing video and series! definitely keep up the heavies as well, its refreshing to see more non meta and underrepresented characters get these types of resources to learn from.

Oh hell yeah, the character i have been waiting years for. Although i wish they gave him more tools to work with, i love playing K. Rool in this game so much, especially when the set ups work. He can do well in certain MUs especially against high and top tier characters.

As a k rool, his biggest weakness is not the lack of tools its that his recovery is super easy to edge guard. If he could move his recovery side ways faster he would move up a tier on any tier list. The only way to avoid getting edge guarded is to read how to opponent will edge guard and either go high or go to the side slightly so that you make it back.

@@Ind0Lee_K.O. Actually that's not true. His recovery isn't always easy to gimp, but that the few characters who can do it are really good at doing it ex Falcon. If he could act out of it or get another jump like Wario does with his bike, then yeah it would be better. I didn't say it was the lack of tools, but if he had more tools like you just said his recovery. If he could do more with blunderbuss or could make Crowne do a smash or tilt command that made knock back dependent on it, it would make his combo game more consistent. If he could get more out of throws or less lag then he would be a much better character.

@@mandalorianhunter1 Less lag would be great but you strait up die at 0% sometimes to good players. His up air having less lag would be great for him. Instead of 52 frames of end lag maybe 30 frames. However that might make his up air too good since it kills some characters at 70%.

Fun Fact about K. Rool in this game: Most people think that he has 2 spikes but he actually has 3. His down-air, back-air, and his up-smash. As illustrated (by coincidence but not mentioned at 15:33 in this video) his up-smash has a second hit box when K. Rool starts to fall onto the plank position. The hitbox is his face. If the opponent is in the air and gets hit by this hit box, the opponent will get spiked. This option is typically never considered as it is extraordinarily conditional but it is still fun to know and have nonetheless.

Don’t forget how important smooth RAR’s are for playing K Rool at peak performance. So many of your confirms rely on back air and being able to hit that reliably is so important. I was a good (not great) K Rool main for a long while, but I felt like I hit a ceiling with him. Then I tightened up my RAR’s and it unlocked an entire new level of K Rool nonsense. TLDR; if you wanna play K Rool well, practice your RAR’s in as many scenarios as you can.

It's basically running in one direction, turning around without stopping, and then jumping very quickly so you maintain momentum in the original direction but are now *facing* the opposite direction. It lets you perform a back air in the direction you normally could only perform a forward air.

A short hop forwards or backwards can be useful to include when throwing the krown sometimes to either get more coverage or make throwing it slightly safer. Kindof like how link does with his boomerang

I’ve loved K. Rool ever since the game first came out. He may have the classic glaring weaknesses of a heavy, but he has enough tricks up his sleeve that, if the player is crafty enough, can straight up embarrass almost any character in the game.

This was the one I was waiting for, I'm not a competitive player but I've been using K.Rool since the release of Ultimate and like you said he's a big combo sponge, but he's very fun to play, plus its funny for me because whenever I play people in arena's they always switch to characters that either reflect or outspeed K.Rool so its crazy how I'm in an arena with a bunch of sweaty players but somehow I the casual is the biggest threat

Another use for blunderbuss is its very good at tech chasing on platforms. Short hop cannon ball provides a slow moving option that keeps you safe from get up attacks and covers wait and roll away with a follow up airial covering a timed roll in. Krown can also do this but its more finiky with you having to input a weaker throw so i find cannonball is quicker and covers the platform longer. A safer but lower reward option. It can also cover regular techs on the stage but so does crown and better

As a note on k rools blunderbuss for ledge trapping. Its basically useless on non platform stages like FD. HOWEVER the move becomes significantly better for ledge trapping with a platform near ledge as you can drop down at any time you wish and angle it more foreards or back. This allows you to cover many options with it and force the opponent into a 50/50 on the most part. Its weakness is still it being waited out but with the platform you can threaten the opponent with drop through dair if their invincibility runs out. As for the added return crown varient it adds even more coverage but as mentioned it takes alot of setup and is gimmicky (but frankly all of k rool is a meme so pull it out if your opponent doesnt suspect it)

D-tilt, F-smash is true at 60% if angled up and your opponent has perfect mash and if your opponent doesn't have good mash its basically true at 30%.

A 19 minute video can be summed up in one paragraph. Stand on the opposite side of the stage to your opponents, spam cannonballs and the crown endlessly, punished that approaches. That’s how you rack up damage. Once you rack up a little bit of damage, attempt a bury to Kayo with a strong smash attack, or spam attacks with super armor to beat out and win clashes. Step three profit.

I played K. Rool a lot and got infuriated by his up smash being so hard to land. But after watching the tournament footage I am realizing if I don't practice, I'll never truly instill where my moves will hit people. I always play reactively, waiting until a hit lands, whiffs, or gets blocked before thinking about what I want to do next.
