I haven't seen one over 15 inches in several years, and the way you gentlemen light up about seeing ones similar in size doesn't make me feel so bad about it the fact its been so long. The fact is, fish that big are just so damn hard to find for many of us -and just darn rare.

People throw around the number 15” A LOT without measuring fish. 15” is a monster crappie and depending where you are, often approaching 2 lbs. that’s a very special fish.

I would say it has quite a bit to do with luck. Yes they are very knowledgeable and make cool videos but I’ve caught a handful in the 17-18” range in my lifetime, a few in the Metro Area and Upper Michigan. It all boils down to right place right time.

@@StockMan1718 I have been fishing this lake for years. Smallest crappie I've caught in it is 13 inches A bunch of 14 to 16s. I tall comes down to going to the write lake. There has been many days on this lake nothing but when you get them their big.

I know I'm late to the party. Good video. I have to correct you on the history of that late 90s crappie boom. It wasn't people being greedy about taking fish like you think. There was a very big push to have the limit lowered even back then. The MN DNR wouldn't do it. There was 1000s of people that signed petitions have it changed to 10 fish limits ( it was 15 at the time) The DNR told us them crappies only lived 7 to 8 years and the boom would be over even if we didn't keep any crappies. They also said the walleye fry wouldn't survive if them crappies where left in the lake. They also said that walleyes are what bring money to the area not crappies. True story.

I love you guys watch every episode. But will admit I liked the last view season when the episodes were fresh. Not liking you boys holding stuff from this year for next year kinda like the beginning was from last year...but will still be watching lol

We would rather have everything be fresh as well. Just have to play the cards we’re dealt. It’ll get back to normal next year. This ice season messed a lot of stuff up. We do appreciate the feedback!

Would like to see a video on how you decide what lakes to fish on to try and target the big ones? Pulled up a 14.5” last year and have been hooked trying to find new water to fish but no luck.

The honest answer to that is doing research with DNR Fishing Surveys, but the biggest thing is A LOT of trial and error time on the water. These fish are really good at hiding, even from surveys.

@@adambartusek that’s what I figured. I spend hours searching the dnr surveys just not sure what to look for I don’t think, all I ever find is small crappies. Makes it tuff when a guy only has time to get out a few times a year with work and family. A video on how to breakdown a dnr survey would be great as a learning tool. But maybe that’s a dumb thought..
