The raving homeless guy reminds me of a lot of the homeless folk who hang around the front of my local library. They wander around pointing, waving their arms, and yelling at the top of the lungs, but thankfully not at the people entering and leaving the library. Instead they get into fights with imaginary people. One time as I was walking up the steps I noticed a homeless lady was ranting at what I assumed was a person sitting to her right as she was waiting for the bus. But as I got closer, I saw that there was nobody even remotely near her at all. Yet she was even pointing at the thin air like there was. It was certainly something else.

This scene made me think not about WHY the guys work for Smiling Friends but HOW they work. Charlie seems like a pessimistic and blunt person but he's often right about a lot of things but at the same time, he WANTS to find solutions to people's problems but he doesn't care to handle them by sugar coating them. He's also better at reading certain situations than Pim is but it can cause him to either quit too soon (Desmond) or not consider other options (Mr. Frog). Pim is very hopeful and wants to make people smile but often doesn't think too far ahead about things if trouble happens. But he doesn't abandon things even if it comes at the stake of his own well being. In both Shrimp and Princess, Pim realized his own selfish actions and apologized for them while giving the opportunities he got to the person he felt deserved them, even if in both cases the situations were totally fucked. Allan seems more concerned with his own world and can come off as blunt like Charlie but he's like Pim when it comes to wanting to finish a job rather than jumping ship. His methods though are just to suggest whatever he thinks is the fastest solution but it often makes a big impact even if it was unintentional, like with the paperclip guy here. Glep....well, I don't know what the fuck Glep does. He's just cute and seems to do weird shit all over the place.
@christopherauzenne50232 ай бұрын
yeah, I really appreciate that charlie isn't just the "negative"/squidward of the group. if anything hes just more a realistic example of a charity worker, he's gonna do the job but for the most part he's running on 75% effort/autopilot. alongside that compared to pim who focuses on fixing the immediate problem, charlie tends to focus on helping them long term (focusing on helping shrimp move on/fix himself rather then getting shrimpina back, often talking about dopamine cycles and such)
@gigachad39252 ай бұрын
At the end of season 2 episode 2 where Glep explains his reason for voting for Mr. Frog, it's my headcanon that he explained that Jimble would actually be happier and truly smile if he retired. I think Glep saw the debate where Jimble basically said he wasn't cut out for the job, and realized that he wouldn't really be fulfilled unless he didn't have to deal with the pressures of the presidency anymore. I think the way Glep works is that he doesn't do much hands-on work but has amazing perspective and critical thinking skills and and ultimately divise the best course of action.
