A very brave soul, and well worth the watch, I have had the privilege to work on many Smiths Industry gauge’s albeit mostly in aviation. Patience, a good light source and the ability to take a smoke break Priceless. Thanks.

Haha thank you Max, great comment and very true. I'd loved to have taken it all to pieces but I think that might have ended in tears!

Thank you for a very helpful video. My speedo has the same problem. I'm wondering if you looked at anything other than WD40 for cleaning this mechanism? Presumably jewelers use something to clean fine mechanisms - I suspect it isn't WD40!

WD-40 Worked perfectly for me, but if people can find something better by experimenting, then yes of course. Or just do what I did, which worked for me.

How did you get the trip mileage shaft to come back out through the case in order to reattach the trip zero knob back on?

There’s a second hole in the post Pull the post and insert a solid bit of wire about .5 mm and poke it through the bottom hole then let go you can now fit the knob back on the top hole then pull the wire out I did it to mine today 😊😊
