John Wilkes Booth certainly saw himself as a dramatic figure in history. Upon shooting Lincoln, he jumped onto the stage and condemned his victim in Latin.

I have to admit I feel so bad for Mary Lincoln (Abraham Lincolns wife) She lost her mother, her brother in law, three of her children, and her husband. She was also extremely hated for anything she would do. She also lost 2 half siblings. How sad, I hope the Lincolns all rest in peace!

Whenever I think about Lincoln’s assassination, I always wonder what it was like for everybody else in the room that night. The theatre was not large by any stretch of the imagination, so I can’t even begin to comprehend what people witnessed, or the smell of gunpowder wafting through the room.

I’ve been to the Ford theater, they still do plays there actually, but we just went on the tour during the day. You’re right, it is not large. Unlike the portrayal here I’ve read, and other sources that the audience was very confused and actually thought Booth was part of the show when he jumped down onto the stage.
