@@escapetherace1943 uninspired how? Brings new super steels every year with proper heat treat while other makers are stuck with generic steels , often with a less than desirable heat treat. Are they fancy? No. But they are functional AF.

@@escapetherace1943what do you mean spyderco could do so much more. From what I herd from the interviews they are doing alot and it's all great. Maybe what there doing isn't what you want but they are doing great things. No one company can offer everything for everyone, but that's why there are so many other options from other companies.

@@escapetherace1943if you stop supporting them you can kiss them goodbye. That’s not how industry works. I agree with some of your comments in terms of a need for more innovation from Spyderco but a lot of what they do and why they do it well, is because it’s a good recipe. You don’t walk into your favorite restaurant and demand change do you? It would be silly. Yet the restaurant over time expands their Menu at occasionally. No other knife manufacturers are pumping out such a wide range of steel options like Spyderco does. It may not matter to you but it does matter to many. Especially if you use a knife in a professional application where certain steels are needed.

Such a big difference comparing Spyderco to the rest. You get such high quality refined improvements in their models, top tier steels, best heat treatment and grinds, ergonomics and the latest techs. Compared to the rest US brands they are also best priced for the performance.

Where’s the PM2 Bowie Spyderco teased us with awhile back. lol. Also, that Magnacut PM2 is a must have!! And I gotta give Eric G some props for calling the Reeve Integral Lock exactly what it should be called and not saying a frame lock. That’s respect in the industry. 👻👊🏻

On the same page here - the chinese manufacturers are churning out tens of new models every year - and our much loved Spyderco is changing the materials year after year. With all due appreciation and respect for the difficulties involved, the costs of changes and the quality control - we would still love to see some new designs every year...

You’re framing the video perfectly, closer to the knife (what we’re here for), reacting, emoting and commenting without being some try-hard funny man, or staying so silent that we just get the manufacturers canned script. I have almost every buck knife from 101 to 124 mostly with cocobola handles. I even managed to pick up a 119 and a 117 Brahma with leather grips and a combat utility knife. Many years ago I sold my buck Master to a friend of mine who still has it and one of these days I'm going to ask him if he would sell it back that would make my collection complete. I'm not too much into the modern buck knives I like the old style because I am an old style

The Buck 838 Deploy was my favorite carry knife until the internal spring screwed up. Now it only opens halfway when the button is pressed.

7cr is not a steel I buy... but, guess it's the Buck heat treatment....because THEIR 7cr is NOT BAD at all. I have a Buck Odessa in 7cr, hollow grind, and it STILL cuts well years later, I rarely sharpen it

Go Spyderco, they do it right. Good prices for a ton of steels done right as he said. I’d be super surprised if anyone rusts Magnacut or Lc200N. Maybe if they forget it in the ocean for a month.

Magnacut is much easier to rust than LC200N or H1/H2. Still pretty tough to do, though. Magnacut is barely more corrosion resistant than 20cv/M390/CTS-204P. Crazy as that sounds, it's true. I bet the coated magnacut is indestructible.

Based on tests I have seen, magnacut is pretty much more stainless than any steel except the ones that don't rust.

@@logangodofcandy KnifeSteelNerds shows LC200N and Vanax beating Magnacut. I imagine the H1/H2 does, too. Magnacut has 9.5 to the M390/20cv 9.0

@@phil2082 exactly so 9.5 rated stainless is gonna take a lot of work to get rust to show. In the vast majority of scenarios it won’t. Like I said only if you forget it outside for a month maybe you will see some specs of rust.

@@BrandonGavin_EDC Yeah, probably not even then. But basically, the same goes for 20cv/m390. Unless you need a little extra toughness to best on the knife, magnacut is probably not as good as those others. The H1/H2 stuff basically cannot rust, too, so there's that.

Tell me about it... When I heard that first set of aluminum handle flippers had 7cr13mov and were $66 MSRP, I almost sh*t myself lol. It looks like their sales and pricing department told Benchmade to "hold my beer" when they were accounting this years catalog lol

Can we please get a Shaman with micarta scales and a convex grind Magnacut or cruwear blade. Also put some shaman style scales on the manix and manix xl. The handle is not comfortable for long or hard use.

Love Buck but their pricing is stupid. It’s not even close on their premium stuff. The Auto is sweet and priced decently but that’s about it. That Buckmaster and Titanium 110 is insulting to people who wanna support USA made stuff.

The auto is priced decently and that’s about it? You can buy a slim select 110 for $33 and the slim select 112, for even less. Can’t think of a single other manufacturer selling a capable USA made locking folder for a price anywhere near that. They’ve made some mistakes but I believe their good outweighs their bad and they’re truly one of the very last reasonable companies left in the industry.

Buck's 440c Does need to be sharpened more often but it's easy to sharpen and I can wash my knives in the sink with my other cutlery.

I have a AKC knife with 440c and I didn't think it would stay sharp. But I use it as a work piece cutting everything. After over 2 years it is still decently sharp. I'm actually impressed. And surprised.

420hc has been around forever because its really cheap to buy (by Buck) and most people dont really USE their knives....max profit for Buck...

Maybe I'm in the minority, but 7cr is not something that any decent American company should be using in knives. And for 60? Has to be better ways to keep price down. Washers instead and use maybe aus8. My opinion of course. I don't know anything about manufacturing or running a business.

Why is Buck still using 7cr and 420hc?? It is 2024 we have so many better budget blade steels. I wanna see D2 and 14c28n not this early 2000s stuff that you have to sharpen every 2 weeks
