God bless the work of the stunt crew on this film. Hal Nedham the films director was a former stunt man so he knew his way round a car chase

A lot of the cars in this were a brand new batch mistakenly sent to California without air conditioning fitted, rather than retro fitting A/C it was easier to just sell them to Hollywood to write them off. Quite a few much older Monacos and Furys wrecked here too though.

@1:50 you can see the front right tire of the Trans Am is a smaller sized generic whitewall with the wheel painted gold to match the other factory wheels The blue Trans Am police car seen in the beginning of The Cannonball Run also had this odd set up in one scene

They only had six Trans Ams so probably one got a flat tyre. Same thing happened in the first movie, there’s a short scene where the wheels are steels not alloys.

Some of those were Pontiac LeManses, which were rejected by a Phoenix rental car agency, since they didn't have air conditioning. Pontiac took the cars back, gave them to the makers of this movie, dressed them up as police cars and the result? You see it.

how anybody call like part 2 is beyond moronic sally field marrying JR again! makes women pretty stupid well most of them are anyway they broke up in real life at this time there was no point in bringing her back who the hell wants to see them yell at each other on screen the plot was terrible bandit is made to look like a jerk more car crashes does not make a better film another two jackie gleasons were not funny the first one is great and the third one was reshot it may be a mess but theres more buford t justice in it part 2 sucks as much fun as watching other bad Universal sequels back to the future 2, the blues brother 2000, psycho 2, midnight run 2, and other bad sequels such as robocop 2, escape from la they crapped on snake plissken and made it into a lame comedy indiana jones and the temple of doom the chick and short round very annoying airplane 2, howling 2, futureworld
