Abraxas is such a good album. This is the music I grew up with - fortunately in the 60s and 70s. It was such creative time for wonderful music. Have you reacted to any of their stuff from Woodstock? 🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for the reaction- very good as usual. ☮

Meaning of Oye Cómo Va It literally translates to listen to how and is really just the beginning of a few lines that make up the song's chorus. In the song, the singer pauses between oye cómo va (listen to how) and mi ritmo (my rhythm goes). Oye, ¿cómo va? is also a common greeting meaning Hey, how's it going? Spanish.

It would be a SIN.. to hear "Black Magic Woman" without "Oye Como Va" immediately after. They were born together and should never be parted.

Black Magic Woman I first heard as a thirteen year old on am radio 1970 or 71 when it came out. I was hooked to his sound right away. Whenever it came on radio would turn up and listen closely. Then in 1979 and couple times in 1980s saw him live. Always one of the more memorable concerts for me. He plays with such passion and skill. His percussion section is also so awesome to see/hear live.

Black Magic Woman by Santana is actually a cover. Was written and performed by Peter Green. One of the best and unrecognized quitar players of all time and who created Fleetwood Mac

I did not discover that until year ago or so. Thought the song fit Santana so well I was surprised not his originally because he so convincingly made it his own. And yet someone could say the original by Peter Green and FM is equal or better and I would not dispute.

The vocals on "Black Magic Woman" are - Gregg Alan Rolie is an American keyboardist, singer and songwriter. Rolie served as lead singer of the bands Santana and Journey - both of which he co-founded. Now you should hear their first ever hit on the radio..... "Evil Ways"

Explore Santana's best work after his first 3 commercially successful albums. His BEST WORK are the instrumentals after he had his SPIRITUAL AWAKENING. CARAVANSERI is an example of a transcendental masterpiece. These songs here are good but the body of work he did later from Caravanseri, Barboletta, Oneness, Welcome, and Moonflower are Exquisite. PLEASE CHECK OUT HIS BEST WORK.

And Gypsy Queen was written by Hungarian jazz guitarist Gabor Szabo. He and Carlos shared a house one summer, and Carlos has said it was Gabor who convinced him to incorporate more of his Hispanic influence into his music. And the world was changed!

Along with Carlos Santana other founding member Lead Vocalist/keyboardist Gregg Rolie, he later left the band after 4 albums with young Guitarist Neal Schon to start a band they ended up calling Journey Gregg was the primary vocalist on the first 3 albums until they found a vocalist named Steve Perry working on a turkey farm.
