Santana says he’s not from Mexico. He’s a citizen of the World. He doesn’t need country boundaries to define him. He would definitely himself as a “Paisano” of the world. Paisano means neighbor or friend.

My *most recent* concert was Santana with the Doobie Brothers and even though they're all older it was still amazing. And even though I usually am not that big on the musicians talking much at shows (I know, I'm weird), Santana is just another breed man. That dude has so much wisdom and I loved listening to him just talk about life and going through things. He's not bad at playing music either haha.

Jamel, Perhaps You know this Tune, was originally done by Tito Puente, a famous Percussionist & Musician in, the Latin Scene. Plus the Lyrics in this quasi - medley - "I'll Never Go Back to Georgia", was from another Latin Artist - Joe Cuba's "El Pito". Anyway, Everyone was happy. As it extended the popularity of those tunes & Latin Music, in general. Besides, it proved to be a Profitable Payday, for all concerned. ;-)

Viva SANTANA......Latino love 💯. He is a master but so so humble. Love him grew up with my mom dancing around the house with this song cooking yucca rice black beans tortillas and meat stewing in the big pots for whoever and I mean whoever stopped over. It was anyone she fed everyone mailmen to the men who were shutting off the water so they left it on and all I remember is my mom's beauty wow what beauty and my dad is Italian and he had a Latin beauty who dressed cooked and danced for him daily. They are still together 50 something years later and despite her beginnings of dementia she still does the same she hears this song and says where's my "MAKE-UP BAG". I saw Santana perform at the soccer field at Humboldt State when I was 17. Very few top level acts bother to to come to Humboldt County and I appreciated the hell out of them for coming. As a budding electric guitar player at the time, he blew my socks off. Soooo good.

When this song came out, Greg Rollie was on keyboards and a 15 year old Neal Schon from Journey on guitar. Without Carlos Santana, there never would've been a Journey. We used to play this in high school marching band in the stands. I loved playing it! We had people up dancing through football and basketball season.

Carlos Santana is one of the world's greatest guitarists of all time in in my humble opinion. Grew up listening to his music 🎵🎶! Saw him live a couple of times.... truly a deeply religious experience.

Absolutely right in the middle "Owner of a Lonely Heart" (YES). Many musicians compliment each other in this manner. Thank you for your reaction!

I saw Santana live in 2003 at the Arrowhead Pond. My band plays this song and we do those funk jam breaks also and a congas solo. A very fun song to play live, I know the band and the audience had a great time!

ORALÉ! Jamal! Many thank yous for reacting to this Classic Jam. Santana's music has been a part of my Familia and my entire Life on this planet. I was born in 75, and the youngest. I've taken my brothers, and nephews to various Santana shows over here in the Bay Area during the late 90s-early 2000s. My personal favorite was the 30th Anniversary show at The Filmore-SF! Then in Sept.2019, one nephew won tickets to a War/Santana show in SF. He texted me if I wanted to go. And I replied, "Sheet. Does Woody from Toy Story have cotton balls?". That LIVE Santana show magic is spectacular every time brother! Loving all these comments, and the references to some deep-cut jams never heard on the radio. Gracias for Keeping Great Music Alive! 🎸✨✌️ Toussaint L'overture baby! You going to love the raw force of this great Santana jam.

I saw Santana back in the mid 90s and hands down one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

I wasn't at that concert, but I've seen Santana live. A concert in Las Vegas was maybe the best concert I've ever seen! Yes the music talks!!! Love you, Jamel.

Well given that Pete Escovedo (Sheila E's father - the E is for Escovedo) was a member of Santana for quite a few years - it's not surprising.

You asked, so... Yup, I was at one of these shows. I got to watch Carlos do magical things with his guitar from the third row! You make a good observation about the richness of their sound. It really strikes you when you see them live. I think a lot of it has to do with the doubled-up percussion.

💥Saw them on a double bill with the Funkadelics in 1978. The place was literally jumping! I swear Santana must have been 25 ppl on the stage. And that was when the Funkadelics had the space ship.

This version smokes the original studio recording! The audience brings out the best in the talented musicians! The Hammond B3 organ and Carlos Santana's guitar, great combo!
