Smoothing the Mossberg 835 and Bottom Ejection Problem

Many Mossberg 500 and 835's have rough actions. I show how to smooth them up to make a nice feeling shotgun.
I also show how to fix the bottom dropping of a shotgun shell when trying to load or cycle the gun.
I thought I would pass this information on to viewers and gun enthusiast or gunsmiths.

Thanks for the information. I was about to give up on my old 500 because of the shells ejecting from the bottom. Im in my 30s and have had that shotgun since I was 12 and a couple dove seasons ago it started ejecting from the bottom and I couldn’t figure it out. This video really helped. Thanks.

Hi BG Happy New Year ! great video good tips on the 835 and the 500. I have a 835. I got to overboard It's like a 10 gauge barrel on 12 ga. I didn't know about the steel shot I'm proud you say that I won't shoot none in my 835. Love my 835 I got the 24" turkey model its patterns everything wonderful ! Modified choke puts 00 buckshot in 17in circle at 40 yds. The turkey choke puts turkey loads 40 yds .#6 bird shot I can knock down crows a mile high ! (Lol ) .I traded my Hatfield 12 gauge automatic for 870 Remington pump I don't think I'm done bad on that trade ! That 870 is a great shooting shotgun and patterns good too !

Try the 3-1/2 inch #5 shot Winchester Long Beard XR ammo in that 835, with the Carlson .683" Long Beard Choke. You'll turn that 40 yards into 60-65 yards. It produces a super pattern at 60 yards. As for your trade, sounds like you did good. Definitely hard to beat the 870's.

My 835 is light primer striking a lot of 3 inch Turkey shells. Got any ideas on what it could be?

My only thought would be two issues. Winchester ammo with too much recess for the primer to set out enough to be hit, or too short of a firing pin. Replace the firing pin and see if it helps.

@@bgdesignandsolutions most of the ammo it has done it on is Remington nitro. Also, I took it apart and the spring around the firing pin is extremely stiff. I have a 535 that eats whatever I feed it.

@@case8987 May be hard primers. Rare, but with all that is going on, I've people complain about that too. If the spring is really stiff, it might be jamming into it when it's compressed and slowing down the movement of the firing pin. I suppose that cold be something to look at.
