For the story about the woman who recovered from cancer and cheated there IS another update. They're getting divorced but have to be separated for a year. Their daughter took his side, she's trying to recover the marriage but he's sticking to his guns. The house was a pre-marital asset so she has no claim.

Story two: white is NOT the bridal color because it’s “pure” - up until about 150 years ago brides just wore whichever of their dresses were the nicest and that was that. It was only because of Queen Victoria wearing white to her own wedding that white became “the” color for brides. And it wasn’t meant to symbolize purity, but the fact that white fabric is the most difficult to clean and therefore requires a large staff of servants to maintain. It’s never symbolized of virginity, but wealth. If any color historically represents virginity, it’s blue, and that’s why thousands of paintings of the Virgin Mary have her wearing blue.
@BRACEwits
@BRACEwits Ай бұрын
I’m not doubting your history but I’ve always been told that white is for if your a virgin, off white colours are for if you aren’t completely different colours are for if it’s a second marriage which still makes his opinion nonsense
@pairoleggs
@pairoleggs Ай бұрын
@@BRACEwits i did my senior research project on victorian fashion and i can say that you are both kind of right! white was not extremely popular as clothing because it was expensive and hard to clean. queen victoria did popularize the white wedding dress, as well as black clothing (fashion icon tbh). however, white did represent chastity! off white colors such as ivory were also fine, and even sisters of the brides were expected to wear white. black was NOT allowed at weddings and even red was taboo to wear. but really, if you lived in a more rural area, especially during the industrial and second industrial revolution, you just wore your nicest clothes and so did the attendees.

Something that wasn’t really mentioned in the story about Owen and his mom… she is 24. That means she was around 16 when she had him and got disowned by her parents. At that young age she had the commitment to get a job to support her son’s needs, she got him into a good school, and she clearly parents him well if Paige commented how respectful he is. Will also say with the Owen "adoption" story. There are SO MANY kids especially over the age of five that need adoption in foster care, and this family ABSOLUTLY has the means to afford the process and care that child needs. The reason they don't want to go through the foster system is because they don't want another child that they have to put effort into raising and being there for them, they just want a kid that doesn't have trauma and will be perfect for their son. They have the means they absolutely just don't want to put the effort into actually having another kid
@Univerzion
@Univerzion Ай бұрын
I'm going to also assume it's also because fostering is just to give a child a place to stay. The primary goal is to get them back with their parents (if the parents weren't neglectful, that is). There's no guarantee that the child is able to be adopted. So not only would they not want to put in the effort to raise a child that comes from a broken home, but they probably don't want to waste effort to do so if the child can't stay. Even if they wanted to do that now, they likely won't be able to considering the wife's actions.

The third story sounds like she has a very toxic bff-coworker. It sounds like the bff-coworker is the one instigating all of this and putting words in her mouth such as "if you don't agree that's toxic masculinity" etc.. I almost wonder if that bff-coworker has her own crush on his wife and wants to *add herself to his wife's bucket list.. kind of like the situation in fargo season 1* *Having a life threatening health emergency does NOT give you a FREE PASS to do WHATEVER YOU WANT regardless of how it negatively effects your life partner.* They stood by you when it happened. They stood by you in good health and bad, like your wedding vows. *So why would you have the right to not uphold your vows/your word?* He should have made that clear, and if she went through with it anyways he should get the hell out of that relationship.
@jonslg240
@jonslg240 29 күн бұрын
The last story; I do see why they'd want the kids to know eachother. They're all half-siblings, and if they don't get the opportunity to meet them & choose now, they might never forgive the parents for missing that opportunity later in life. Just because some people wouldn't "see the need" to meet their half-siblings (weird opinion, imo) many people believe family comes before all else, me included. Blood is thicker than water. Also, even though the dad doing this was extremely shitty, he's still both the biological dad for both sets of kids, plus the only dad they've ever known. So they shouldn't try to keep him out of the childrens' lives, either.
@Blackthorne369
@Blackthorne369 8 күн бұрын
@jonslg240 While I agree family should come before all, the family you are born into is not always worthy of that. Which is why your quote makes so much sense but I believe not in the way you meant. The full quote is “The Blood of the Covenant is Thicker than the Water of the Womb". The family you choose, the relationships one builds as you live life, this whole bundle of children, which can come to care for one another in time- that is what matters. But only if they choose that connection. There is no guarantee that they will continue this and they should not be forced to do so. Forcing humans to interact with and/or stay together, only because of their blood relation, is a potential recipe for misery. Life is too short to be miserable always. Concerning the father, it is wonderful the two families are getting along cordially but they do not need a betrayer at every get together only because he is related to them. If the kids want to continue a relationship with lying father, they can and should not be forced to stop NOR should they be forced to continue unless there is harm involved, on either side. IMHO

My theory for the "my wife is stalking my ex" is that she (the wife) was always obsessed with the ex OP mentioned that the 2 of them kinda knew eachother but not like in a friends way, so i truly believe the wife was already stalkin the ex and "wanting to become her" since before she met OP and then, when she discovered OP was single again, went for him to emulate the ex

With that said, I wonder if this is an identity thing, whether it be the issue in itself or a symptom of something like BPD. Because there is no way she has a sense of identity if she's able to slowly merge into who the ex is. Because this behavior is undiagnosed, personality disorder level type of thing, and if it truly that, I can only imagine what hell she lives in because, from my own experience, not having a grounded sense of identity is absolutely harrowing at times.

You hear the stories of an obsessed stalker going through the person's trash and taking like a toothbrush or other momentos. I'm not implying the ex is trash himself, but it really feels like his wife saw him as the ex's leftovers instead of like a person/love interest. Hopefully she's just doing it because she loves the OP and is trying to become what she thinks he'd want. Still not healthy and scary as heck, but at least comes from a place of seeing him instead of just a former possession of the Ex

I became best friends with a girl in a very difficult situation where there was the possibility of homelessness. Her parents adored her but supporting her had become hard and since our families became very close we were able to take care of her. Because our families were friends, things were handled differently and we were able to support my friend without even considering the possibility of adoption. We are almost finished with high school now and are still best friends with one big group family 💛

I feel so bad for Charlie in the future (hopefully) when he eventually learns that his parents are crazy and the reason his best friend as a child stopped coming over was because they tried to obtain him. For story 3, there is another update. The next day, when. OP gets home from work, he is confronted with his MIL, SIL, wife, and all his wife's female friends. It was an "intervention" for OP to stop being "petty". They ALL start screaming at him, calling him an asshole, saying he is toxic, that HE is in the wrong etc. etc. OP, knowing all their husbands/spouses, calls there bluff. Tells them that, if they think she is right, then they should have no problem with him calling all their boyfriends/husbands and telling them what they are all doing. They all pretty much keep quiet and back away as they all knew that their partners would not agree with them. I don't remember if he did contact the spouses anyway, but some of them did find out. He got a lot of supportive messages from them (I think some of the wife's friends begrudgingly apologised over text over the threat of losing their own relationships), and these relationships either ended or were suddenly hanging on by a thread. Either way, the update ended with OP now firmly being set on divorce.

On one hand, there's a lot of psychological scarring from fighting cancer, confronting your mortality directly and understanding that life is a lot shorter than we think. Honestly, I think there should be more praise for the guy in the first story. The guy was in high school and got a bonus out of helping a person in need, and he clearly recognized that by paying her back honestly later in life. How many of you guys reading this or the cast themselves, have done much worse than being nice and getting something nice in return in high school? I’d venture to say almost all of you. Everyone was comparatively an idiot socially in high school compared to where they are when they’re older, whether you think you’re doing something nice or not. They are judging a kids actions and morals in relation to their thirty year old, experienced, and elevated morals. It’s ridiculous. They basically lambasted a kind man when he was young as well as when he was grown, just being kind and helpful both times. Crazy.
@LightBluePhoenix
@LightBluePhoenix Ай бұрын
Exactly. I don't think they've witnessed bullying first hand, or experienced it for that matter. The fact he stood up to them is beyond what many people do. They either ignore it or laugh about it, and you're on your own. Even when I eventually fought back against the bullies in high school, even if I did protect another kid, I was still getting revenge at the same time. So by these same criteria I'd be seen as bad too. At the time fighting back made sense, but looking back it wasn't a perfect solution; I'm still glad for what I did, but I'm not proud anymore and recognize I could have done in hindsight. Standing up to bullies is not easy. People don't because that makes you a target, and no one wants to be the target. I wish they'd talked about the guy in story in a kinder way considering what he did, even if it wasn't the best way, it was still a positive outcome.

To quote Shayne from another Reddit stories, "Respect is more powerful than love." Without it, a romantic relationship can't last. Lies, deceit, disrespect, and overall tomfoolery are ingredients for a disastrous end to the relationship. If you can't show respect and dignity to your partner, you don't deserve to spend the rest of your life with someone. If the person isn't acting in a mean-spirited manner, be respectful towards them. Treat others the way you want to be treated. This ain't a videogame where u got extra lives. You only have one life. Don't waste opportunities to be good. Live your life to the fullest with dignity. Shayne, if you see this comment, you and the rest of the cast that appeared in these episodes have come up with such great quotes that we can take to heart. Keep it up! 👊

For the fifth story with the single mom, it sounds like she's doing a great job. I grew up poor with a single mom, and we were also put in daytime summer camps and rec centers after school when our mom worked, and those places were an absolute blast, even the ones in crappy cities/poorer areas. We didn't get a lot of gifts outside of birthdays and Christmas, but it made them feel more special honestly. The lady in the story took extra shifts because she knew her son would be staying at a good friend's house, and it was so she could get him the bike and other he had been wanting. The fact that her son is described as sweet and respectful really shows she raised him well. The idea that this family wants to take her son away is insane. As an 8 year old I would have been devastated at being taken away from my mom, no matter how many gifts I got. That's so entitled and classist to think that this kid can't have a happy life since the mom is poorer than them.
