I really enjoyed how sceptical you are about high resolution format and DSP, it sot of conforted me to hear a professional saying what i think. It is probably not complete bullshit, an audiophile in the dark in an auditorium room listening a recent recording made by a good sound engineer on high end system is probably able to enjoy such format. What i like with the device is high definition BT codec (they really make a difference), even if don t usually listen to my phone, but i do it from time to time. The Su8s is a bit more expensive and uses a different chip (the other manufacturer so an ES-something). So i m hesitant, both have APTXhd/ldac (decent codes), can be use as pre-amp and offer the same connectivity. The M200 screen can proabable be seen from further, but the Su8s seems to have a slightly better interface. Soundwise i have no idea, i know that i often found Topping DAC to be aggressive, surgery-like DAC giving an X ray like image of the music ( i returned some topping 50-something but it was probably an horrible class D amp too). May be AKG sounds more "analogical" than ES, but it may depends on the serie, my AKG4490 sounds ok, but this is complicated since what is around the chip plays a lot too in the result.

There does not appear to be any analog inputs . maybe I missed that? consider this a digital input preamp/dac. Certainly not a preamp like back in the day as mentioned.

All of the inputs are for digital signals, not analog. The Yulong DAC has three digital, and an analog input with a Class A preamp. I have both, but I prize my Yulong DAC from APOS in California.

Great video buddy. I’m thinking of buying the SMSL DA 9 amp. Would this DAC be ideal or should I go with a other DAC. And I have a set of old B&W D602 bookshelf speaker that are a little on the bright side. Do you think SMSL work well with them. Or should I be some other speaker

Phono input isn't what a [DIGITAL] to Analog Converter does. Nothing digital with phono.

Possibly the most useless review I have watched on YT of a piece of audio gear… watched up to 28 mins and not a mention of the sound quality, soundstage, bass, midrange, treble…. Nothing.
