I rescued a race horse from slaughter in 2016 due to racing. When injured and healed, tried to race him again and failed so they sent him to auction at 5 years old for slaughter. I outbid the slaughter house and he is now 9. They get ruined so young its so sad

Horse racing can Kill but, I blame the Jockeys because their in control of the Horse, some Jockeys let there Horse get too close to their opponents when there jumping the Fences or Hurdles.

a lot of ex-race horses get put down after they've been rehomed as the little bones inside their lower leg joints disintegrate from all the impact

If the horse's back was broken it would not have been able to run off like that. I think TheHorseLady1212 didn't watch the end of the video and assumed a broken back before the video ended.

I love horses..There a part of me..but when your racing horses..anything can happen just like with humans racing on foot..and Taking tumbles whether its u or that horse..It happens..so..if your gonna take time to go to the races..You have to understand it's a tough sport and you gotta be tough right back..r u with me?

To all those people dissing racing, all have relevant points, but not fully accurate. I ride trackwork, and if a horse doesnt want to race it wont do well in training and in racing, as a result trainers dont want a horse that wont try so they stop racing them. I know from experience because my boss rehome several horses who didn't like it and they are in new homes as jumpers eventers etc. There are some trainers out there who will abuse and push their horses to their limits which is cruel, but that's bad trainers. Most out there put out a horse that loves to run and their hearts pump for their horses to come home safe first and worry about placings second. It's like in any other sport and it's just like the real w0rld, there are good and bad people. As for injuries please don let tell me that in any other sport there isn't pain, injury or sacrifice to get to your goal. In rugby players break bones, get hurt but they get back up. Not all horses get out down after a broken leg. We have had several horses who healed from broken legs and have raced retired and gone to new homes or to stud. A broken leg isn't exactly the end of a horses life, you just hope they have a owner 9r trainer that has the heart to do what's best for the horse. There are so many horses out there who live to race it's all they want to do. Racing isn't cruel if you do it right.

the private secto kills more horses..just call any livestock/removing comapany they 'handle' anywhere from 8-12 horses WEEKLY. Now multiply this by the number of such companies and you'll get the picture on how many horses are...as you say 'murdered'. Its easy to pick on racing...what about show jumping? Reining? Polo? or like they here in the U.S. barrel racing...ever picked on them?

I saw the full race one horse got hurt bad on his front foot but I think it was the rider fall he didn’t make his horse jump!

This is a horse, that weighs a significant amount more than a human and could gladly get a jockey off their back if they wanted to and are clever enough to refuse to race too. So how come the overwhelming majority of horses don't?? Because they love to race, simple as.

The horse was winded that's why it took a while for it to get up. Thoroughbreds have racing in their blood. It is in their genetic make up, rather like a Border Collie that rounds up sheep or a Shire horse pulling a plough or a wagon. These horses are treated like royalty. Did you know, Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum flies all his horses from the UK back to Dubai for the winter? This channel uses horse racing because it's an easy target. Have a look on the World Horse Welfare channel. You'll see plenty of horses and ponies on there that have been saved on the brink of death and they're owned by irresponsible, ignorant, evil people. You won't see a single racehorse though. This channel hasn't got a clue.
