Thanks to your support, work has now started at Snaizeholme, making it one of the boldest habitat restoration projects in the English uplands.
Snaizeholme is a unique and complex habitat restoration and nature recovery project 20 miles north of Settle, close to the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Here, near Hawes, the Woodland Trust is looking to create one of the largest new plastic free native woodlands in England.
Snaizeholme really will be a unique and complex piece of conservation work due the range of habitats and species, the topography and elevation - not to mention the estimated 2m of rainfall per year. Tree planting will exist alongside huge restoration projects, including of 280 acres of upland peatbog, 180 acres of limestone pavement and over 200 acres of riverside meadows following Snaizeholme Beck.
