So I am pretty sure that the first toad that you found is a hybrid of a Southern toad and a Fowler's toad. We have a lot of cross breeding between the two species in the Carolinas.

I love how there’s a bunch of crazy high school/college kids running around and then just two random reptile nerds filming frogs. 😂

Those high school calls are mainly from the “senioridae schoollairus” they are native throughout North America and parts of Europe most of them are mating yells of them trying to get in a relation ship that will most likely fail in a couple months

Gotta appreciate the fact they have the best interest out for the animals they catch. Putting the frogs and toads back in safe locations, then the turtle further out so kids wont grab it.

I love when they go somewhere like you get to learn so much from species that may be native or may not be native to your area.

This is a shockingly good idea but try for a slow night if you can. I work night shift on a college campus and to count the things I've seen since April (things liven up for spring) between midnight and sunrise we have Armadillos, cats, raccoons, foxes, GIANT owls, rabbits, frogs, toads, turtles, geckos, anoles, ring neck snakes, black racers, rat snakes, giant wolf spiders, cicadas, more snails than sand on a beach, giant water bugs, opossums, bats and about 67,000 mosquitos. The combination of large grassy fields, easy sources of damp grass and water and relatively light foot travel in my corner of the campus yields some interesting results. Note: I have been jump scared by blind armadillos spooking themselves soooooooo many times. Please, let the staff know what you are doing ahead of time. You will give us heart attacks.

I was feeling really upset and down and then I started watching this video and it's really brought me back honestly. It sounds stupid but genuinely just watching you guys chase frogs and toads around and get excited about them has made my evening a lot better.

I grew up in SC with a small garden pond outside my window. It took me YEARS to sleep ok without the sound of green tree frogs outside my window. They still make me sleepy.

I live a little more towards the middle of SC, and as someone who loves reptiles but likes to keep distance from frogs, (USed to be same for all lizards, but now just the small ones) I can confirm my back yard would be a treasure trove for ya'll. (Also pretty sure I heard a rattle snake in the woods today--)

I’d guess that first toad is a fowlers toad. I have a pet fowlers toad that has more distinct crests and the 3 warts per spot is not 100% a rule, but a ‘most of the time’ type of a rule that they have 3 per on most sections but 1 or 2 per in some places. The crests can be prominent in all species but they are different shapes, they don’t all line up with the paranoid glands in the same way. I had a diagram from college but have lost it sadly! We have all these same species in Alabama where I’m from

When I was a senior in HS our senior picnic was at a local park with a road back to picnic areas. It poured rain for a short while and we all hide under the shelters. After the rain stopped when you looked at the road it seemed to be moving. Closer inspection revealed it was covered in tiny little toads, smaller than a dime each but thousands of them. There was a runoff stream parallel to the road and they must have just all come up since everything was wet. Amazing sight I still remember over 40 years later.

I was born and raised in South Carolina and haven't been back since I left for the Army in 2017. I LOVED hearing the nighttime sounds I miss so much!

I love green tree frogs and they’re adorable, but they’re less adorable when one is on the wall outside your bedroom window while you’re trying to sleep. They are surprisingly loud and obnoxious for such little critters.

We had a huge toad that lived in the grass at the back entrance of my dorm building in college. I loved him he was all fat and adorable! His name was salvyster .

When you picked up the toads, my heart genuinely skipped a beat! Probably because we've always been warned against touching toads in the UK, but I think ours are toxic 😂 Also, the green tree frogs sound so cool! Like they're singing!

I love seeing all the little toadlets! I live in NE Wisconsin and we used to get hundreds of tiny little toad babies hopping around our yard in early summer, but for some reason haven't seen them in years. It does make mowing the lawn a lot easier and...cleaner, shall we say?😅

When I was in college I always loved finding reptiles on my campus. One of my best finds was a broadhead skink during mating season. The males have these bright reddish orange heads during the breeding season.

The frogs are so cute!

This was great! I love these kinds of videos where you go herping. It reminds me of how much fun I had herping and bringing home what I found to show my family… sometimes to their chagrin. Makes me wonder what you guys would do in Louisiana where it’s really quite hard to not see some kind of reptile or amphibian on any given day; even in the cities. As far as urban places to look, the University of Louisiana in Lafayette has a literal swamp in the center. You can’t go in it on account of the alligators, but that place attracts the harder to find reptiles and amphibians. Many of which make their way out or into the swamp at night. Save for the alligators… usually. The alligator snapping turtle never left yet, or was taken out that I know of. The bigger reptiles there would often be part of relocation programs; animals that were rescued from precarious situations and would be checked by the biology department before being released in the wild. It’s a great place for birding too. Not to mention the parks and reserves. No better place to get up close and personal to Rexy’s relatives than canoeing or kayaking in Lake Martin or Palmetto Island.

These are species that love my back deck (aside from the slider), but it’s so cool to see someone so excited about them. We try to provide shelter for any we see! The GTF absolutely love our umbrella on the deck, so we don’t open it often lol.

We live in Charleston! My daughter is a huge fan. Watching Snake Discovery helped her get through the pandemic. We now have a female hognose named Bob. The SCPARC hosts some awesome field trips in South Carolina. We did some terrapin sampling with them on the Kiawah River in May. Saturday evening, 7/16, they are doing a nighttime herping field trip at the Old Santee Canal Park. We are sad to miss it because we are out of town. We would love to find out if y'all are doing any public educational events in SC in the future. We are talking about taking a vacation to Minnesota just to see Snake Discovery! Thanks for all you do to introduce so many people to the wonderful world of Reptiles and Amphibians!

Grew up in the Upstate of SC. Just about every evening we would go out looking for frogs and toads. In our area we basically only had the Fowler toad or a hybrid of the Fowler and Southern

I’m currently caring for a gray tree frog, he’s surprisingly easy to handle. His name is Houdini, and since I’m not tong feeding he can be released back into the wild.

One of my favorite frogs in my area is the pacific wood frog, they like ponds shaded by trees away from fast currents, and when you catch them they "Meep!" to try and scare you. They are so adorable!

When I lived in Georgia, we had green and grey tree frogs everywhere. There were Fowler's and American toads, but only in the wooded areas. Bull frogs and pig frogs were the ones you heard, but rarely saw.

In New Orleans, right now it's super rainy season, so there are lots of little frogs/toads hopping around the French Quarter. They look like the toadlets you found. They are tiny: about the size of a quarter, dark, and super cute.

So my top 2 favorite frogs are Milk Tree Frogs and Green Tree Frogs and one is native to my area and it is the Green Tree Frog's so if I were to have a pet frog it would be 1 of the 2 but most likely Green Tree Frogs since they are kept as pets. I really just want to work with animals in general so yeah- I am autistic and animals are one of my special interests :>

Love all the lil frogs!! Their calls were so loud and so soothing :) Oh, for the question at the end "can blind people see their dreams?" There is a known answer for that - They cannot! If they were born blind. If they went blind later, the visual part of dreams will be present, but decrease with age. Like memories, ya know?

I had the same frogs (green tree frogs) in my last apartment complex. They were so loud 😂😂 I never really saw them out and about and didn’t try catching any. We also had koi and a ton of turtles in the ponds in front of my building. Very few predators except random birds that would swallow the koi whole 😬😬😬😬

I live about an hour an half from Charleston in the country the past couple weeks we have had thousands of frogs in our yard. An I mean that thousands when I walk threw the yard nearly every step you take you see baby frogs hopping away from your feet it is insane. Glad yall found some cool things in Charleston its one of my favorite places to go.

The last fee days of school last school year i found a hatchling River Cooter on top of its head, shell vertical, right outside the school door. I’m pretty sure someone put it like that but i took it in and gave it to a person i knew well who had a friend looking for a turtle for their pond. I was shown a video of him settling in :) I didn’t return it to the wild as it may have been on its head for a long time an there was no way to tell if it had sustained any trauma or neurological issues due to it, and I was afraid that it would meet a more unfortunate end if a crueller person found it after :( Just before that a person killed a toad i had found after i released it back. He came up to show us the injured toad and I took it back home but it was too badly injured to save. It held on for a few hours, and I hope it was at peace that it was in a safe and warm home when it passed.

The yellow bellied slider looked like it had a smiley face on it’s plastrum with the two black dots and the little dark line just below them. All those cute toadlettes! I can’t believe how many there were in that one small area! Nature is so incredible if you just take the time to appreciate it. Thanks for the video Emily and Ed. You two need to get one of those portable emergency power sources as a backup for when you forget to charge your phones lol. You can get some pretty decent ones for pretty cheap and that way you’ll not miss out on a great filming opportunity because of a dead battery. ☺️💕

Green tree frogs are by far my favorite frogs. They remind me of childhood when I used to go out at my grandparents house and find them on the side of their house. The ones I found at their house had very vibrant yellow stripes and no where else have I found ones with such yellow stripes and where I live right now they have very white stripes. There are soooo many southern toads around my house that I have to very carefully walk in my yard around dusk or I’ll just step on a toad, doesn’t help I have bad eyesight and night vision

So, I used to live about 5 miles from that college and I kept a few plants under a light outside of the garage. I kept the light on at night and I probably had 20 to 30 green tree frogs living on that shrub and they had an easy meal at night! Love your content!

A frog moved into my mini pond, sometime this week. We're not friends yet, but it trusted me more today than it did yesterday.

My husband actually used to work for security for CSU a few years ago and he even in fact had to rescue an adult water moccasin or copperhead (I can't remember which one) one time.
