Walk through the setup of the CNCr components on the @Snapmaker A350. Then walk through setting up a carve and cut in Snapmaker Luban. Then I give my thoughts on the software.

Just watched this 2 years later. I had a Snapmaker 2.0 A350 and I got online and found one that had missing pieces and some issues and I was able to get it working. Was one heck of a deal. Combining the purchase price and parts to complete it I paid $440. AND it came with the 3D Print Head, and the Laser (the lower powered 1600) and the CNC. My first Snapmaker, which I also bought for even less money $200 but that needed $300 in parts, but that one only had the 3D Print Head. So, this one gives me the added functions. Thanks for the video and I'm in Arizona also, Tempe. I do a lot of 3D Printing, robotics with Arduino/Rapsberry and stepper motors. My main go to machines are Lulzbot TAZ 5 which I also bought for some really good prices again needing to be fixed. People buy these machines thinking they are as easy to operate as Microwave ovens. Then the either assemble them wrong or use them wrong. That's when I come in by buying the messed up machines and restoring them. The 2nd Lulzbot I bought must have had 20 issues, misaligned guide rails, wiring nightmare, and on and on. Took me 3 and a half days to get it working with $200 in parts to fix it. But I got it for $240. 3D Printing is amazing and now I get to try laser and CNC which I probably won't do much of but I'll give it a try. Nice video neighbor.

I have one and it is really awesome! A tip: when running the boundary test, make sure the mill bit runs free of the clamps. You don’t want to risk the machine or bit running into the clamps during the boundary test. I do it in at least two steps in order to be really sure that the work volume is collision free. I just wish there was a way of verifying the maximum depth somehow.

I wonder if they will add a sensor for getting the height vs having to add it in every time. I think that would be more accurate, but as long as you don't go all the too far into the waste board everything should be ok depth wise.

That engraving time took me by surprise. I'm looking to buy this and figured the CNC and laser would be a nice bonus and give me some more creative uses, but 14+h for something that small.... :(
@YetAnotherMaker
@YetAnotherMaker 4 жыл бұрын
I was surprised by it as well, but after i thought about it for a while it isn't that bad for what the machine has. 1/8" bit but a small motor that doesn't have the torque of a larger cnc. The nice thing is with the enclosure and even with it open it isn't as loud as my x-machine cnc. we were able to sleep with it running in the shop and the master bedroom is above part of the shop. I would never do that with the x-machine.

Yea that time is really heavy for sure. Saw a guy do a 3d carving of the last supper 7x5 inches on a 3018 CNC took him 22 hrs for that one which I understand but that in my opinion is really slow for such a job.

@@YetAnotherMaker Great content Y.A.M! Thanks for sharing. I don't own this but here's a thought/question. what about running it with a hogging bit and do like 85% of the material removal, and then change bits and do the fine machining with the bullnose? i feel like that would cut down some serious time. I would welcome your thoughts. would it be possible to make a job or g-code with a mid job tool change? I'm coming from an automatic tool change cnc world and looking to get a lil guy for home projects :)

I thought I saw where some people thought you had said that your engraving took 14 hours but on the video I heard you say 13-14 minutes, just wondering if I heard it wrong now? Also the letters, couldn't you make two passes or two different templates, so that the first pass it would cut the center, second pass it would cut the outer of the letters? I don't have a 3D printer yet but am really interested in this one. I have a Silhouette Cameo and the software allows you to tell it how to cut the template or you can make two separate templates, turns it into two jobs but will cut what you want on a first pass and then cut the rest on the second. You can cut as many times as you want, making as many templates on one project as you need to separate the cuts. 3D may be quite different... Thanks for the video!

Why not cut the piece to the shape you wanted in the first place, why mold? Just inverse the OBJ and you'll save loads of material and time

How long did you have to wait for the Pinter to come in and when did you order it? I order mine back in May 2020 it never came in. I can't believe I've got screwed by snap maker! I'm still waiting for my printer to come in!

I had ordered mine during the Kickstarter run, and thanks to covid it took 6 months longer then it should have. It will come though. Let me know when it does and that will give us a good idea what there current time frame is currently.

You didn't get screwed - it just takes a long time. COVID delayed things a few months, too. I also backed the Kickstarter and mine didn't come until the end of September. I was in the next to last group of Kickstarter shipments.

Just how powerful is the motor? Whats some of the harder stuff it could cut, aluminum maybe?
@YetAnotherMaker
@YetAnotherMaker 3 жыл бұрын
It is not a very powerful motor. I would not attempt to do anything other then wood, acrylic, fiberlass/carbon fiber, pcb boards and engraving on non ferrous metals. Any kind of serious metal cnc work it just going to cause problems. The motor is only a 50w motor. It would be nice to see an upgraded motor.

If I just wanted to 3d print I would not, but because it has the CNC and Laser I most definitely would buy again. 3 reasons I would buy it again are 1) space that it takes up. 2) not as loud as my other cnc. 3) ease of use. Oh and it has a friken laser on it.

Only svg, png, jpg, bmp and dxf file formats are supported. You would need to use a different application and generate the g-code there and then you can use Luban to load the g-code.
