Good video, thank you Clayton. I changed my boots today thanks to the video. My mower boots had same part numbers. I bought them at a Snapper dealer shop locally. The boots look just like the original ones, black rubber, unlike your new boots. My snapper was 'given' to me about two weeks ago. It's was sitting outdoors in the weather for a couple of years, so I will be needing all the help I can get. Keep the video's coming. A word of advise to all your fans, if someone 'gives' you a mower, have a can of wasp and hornet spray handy. I learned the hard way haha.

The plastic boots don’t last as long as rubber boots do. If you set mower back on two 2x4 you will be able to get at the bolt without laying the mower back down.
@appelmac1
Those gray boots are not as good as the black rubber boots!!

HUB? Few taps with the hammer... Loosen this up... Pull this tire one handed... Now if your lawn mower hasn't been taken apart forever... THIS WILL PROBABLY BE A PAIN IN THE BUTT. Clayton, this was in fact a modern day prophesy. Had to eventually cut the hub off. Ha

Sorry to say your shade tree mechanic style makes me nervous, get a tripod for the camera and use two hands.

You didn't have to do all that you are doing. If you would have pulled the shaft from the other side it would have been easier.

Thanks, but I wish that your cameraman skills were as good as your mechanical skills.

AFTER removing the wheel hubs, hand sand the paint/rust off the axle areas where the hubs were mounted, clean, then put grease or Vaseline on the clean metal axle BEFORE removing the fenders where you won't damage the inner bearings or seals as you pull the fenders off, if you don't do this you can damage the inner bearing sleeve and the seal as you pull the fender off over the sharp edges around the drilled cross hole on the axle, when you remount the wheel hubs generously cover the axle with ANTI-SEIZE where next time will be effort free. I learned the hard way.

👍Good stuff. Really like that engine too! My old 1988 28" Snapper RER needs another engine. Still running but just sits in garage. The old 8HP is a knockin and drinkin oil fast😂 (SUBd) 🇺🇸✌️
