Great review. One nitpick: Degradation is fastest in the first couple years, then tapers off pretty dramatically, according to the data we see for Model 3s and Ss. So, 2% loss in the first 21k miles can’t really be extrapolated over the next 80k.

@Lone Ranger I am specifically talking about the Convention for Extension of Hong Kong Territory, and specifically about the term that said 99 years, signed in 1898 and ending 1997, the Brits accepting a *99 year lease* because Claude Macdonald, the British rep, felt that 99 years was "as good as forever". That treaty also extended to increasing the size of Britain's already established colony there, in an attempt to extend it for *200 miles* So while Britain had the colony for longer (since 1841) specifically my comment, *which discussed the 99 year lease agreement* was *only* discussing *the 99 year lease agreement* Do. Not. Correct. People. If. You. Do. Not. Know. What. You. Are. Talking. About.

Excellent review - I had my name down for a Model 3 when they first came out in the UK but cancelled and got my deposit back. When my current car deal is up I'm going electric - been struggling between 3 (new/lease), S (used) or Polestar 2, so this honest review has been really helpful. Hope they sort the pain quality issues.

Well, the euro model 3s I believe have better build than the ones in the states. Our model 3s come from the Fremont factory which is basically a recycled gm plant and the build from fremont is lagging behind Tesla's other factories, I'm not sure whether or not the UK falls in Berlin or Shanghai, but these factories do have slightly better build than Fremont. My suggestion is to test drive the cars you're interested in and thoroughly inspect the Teslas and the Polestar and then come to an informed decision on which to order.

I appreciate the honest feedback! I had the opportunity to drive a Model 3 for a week and found the fact that the no speed gauge front facing to be too annoying. This goes for any vehicle that doesn't have any. Why not have a heads-up display? Wouldn't think that would be too hard. Handling is very good and agree, paint job and fit and finish for this price point is really not acceptable.

Great review Snazzy Labs! Working in automotive product development I can say that was a very interesting and well balanced review showing the shortcomings of a young manufacturing company but also the dynamic way that Tesla interacts with it's customers and improves the human interface regularly at no extra cost. Excellent idea of covering the review one year on and it was a great insight into electric car ownership as I personally am still driving combustion engines but look forward to a much greater market mix in the future. Thanks very much again for the info, keep up the great work :o)

I've owned the dual motor for about a year, with the full self drive, certainly a great car, didnt have any paint issues, but when I went to pick it up the driver door would close after I opened it, so they took it in and made the door sit higher so it closes; so you can maybe exect these types of situations when you firat get it. Other than that its been very perfect, the self drive has improved remarkably being able to go through street lights when its green and stop when its red. A prefect car, really.

787brx8 this is nonsense. Literally half of an internal combustion engine’s cycle is not contributing to outputting work (it has to exhaust the burnt gasses). Due to that alone an ICE will never be as efficient as an electric motor. Sure there are other factors to consider but your statement about ignition timing is pure fiction. One issue I have is the fit and finish. Sat in the model 3 at the dealership and the weather striping inside the car was actually misformed and sagging, hanging from the edges of the door and headliner. Some weird issues in the trunk area too. Not expecting Bentley perfection, but I’m expecting the same quality I’d get on a $16,000 Nissan Versa which has a flawless fit and finish
