Glad I found this review. I'm teaching dance classes from home and needed a less cumbersome setup for my AKG condenser and this is perfect. It captures my voice and the music I play from an external speaker for my online students - and I'm free to move about the room without a lav mic pack on me. Found some on Ebay for $40. Thank you!

I am looking right now at the m-audio fast track the one down from yours it has only 1 input in OR going with a straight audio technica at2020 usb mic so no need for phantom power. But not sure if the at2020 is good, some say you can monitor while your record with it?

I want to connect my Warm Audio preamp to my computer. Can this device work or will the phantom power damage my preamp’s output? Can I use it without phantom power?

I was looking in to this product when looking for a USB Microphone Quinn, As i wanted the USB Connection as i could not afford the higher price tag of investing in XLR and having to set up a pre-amp and all that stuff. Would you consider the fact that you can buy cables that do the same job & do they give you the same phantom power that's needed ?, The reason i ask is that picking the right equipment from watching review's like yours is the comparison between choice and what's available

Hi, thanks for your great video! It seems that when you hook up the Icicle to the microphone you can't use the stand that ships with Audio Technica AT2020, right? Is there a way to connect the Icicle to the mic through an XLR cable and use the original stand, or would it degrade the sound quality? I'm interested in buying Audio Technica AT2020 with the Icicle or Audio Technica AT2020 USB+. Which one would you recommend?

Would it be worth using this with a Yeti Pro instead of directly using the USB on it? You mentioned on your Yeti Pro review that you get better quality if you use the XLR output.

The sound is the same with very slight change comparing the icicle and the M-audio. Not to mention icicle is better if you travel alot and don't need to do a full setup everytime, it is just plug and play.

The Website says you shouldn't put the Icicle direct under the Mic

Hey, I need a suggestion please. Do you think that 'at2020 xlr + icicle' would not loose quality over 'at2020 usb'. I just bought an AT2020XLR and was not aware that it requires phantom power. Shall I return and replace it with AT2020USB or buy Icicle Converter?

Nice sound. I think the fast track actually deadens the tone a bit as compared to the icicle, which keeps the tone a little livelier. But they are still extremely close, just a tiny bump of energy with the icicle.

@EG33s yeah just get an phantom power box like the behringer ps400 or Nady SMPS-1X and you're good to go. There cost 20 dollars so its a cheaper alternative to the icicle. It sounds good by the way.

Yes look it says it on amazon.

Typically you would not attach the Icicle directly to the back of your mic. That makes mounting awkward and stresses the joint connection. I advise you put a short XLR cable on your mic that leads back to the computer, and connect the icicle between the end of that XLR cable and the USB connection to the computer, protecting the converter by keeping it from falls and getting stomped/tripped over. Let the connector on the end of the CABLE take all the stress of connecting and dis-connecting various mics, and the icicle will last longer/perform better.
