Often described as an "action/simulation" hybrid. Not quite accurate, but it's still pretty good.
New SNES-related video every Tuesday, and something else (Genesis, Game Boy, whatever) on Thursdays

the most touching part was in the simulation stage, where a dying man asks that ''God'' cries over his death by sending a rain cloud on him....it was very interesting at the time, especially with the dialogue if u sent a cloud or not....anw, a superb game, and the music for stage 1 is by far one of the best on snes ever...

But in my personal opinion, I dislike it. I’m not a fan of city building games because I find them too monotonous and don’t feel that rewarding to me and I get bored rather quickly with these. I’m turned off by it because it won’t let me beat the game like that (I want to like ActRaiser), I was hoping for a password feature but sadly there isn’t. Action is my thing.

Could you imagine how insanely good a faithful remake of this game would be... So an open world game where you the player "act" under 3 modes of perspective as you "raise" your society. #1 Angel Mode- in this perspective you are the "holy spirit" acting as the conduit of faith of the people you "level" up with the society as a wholedictating where miracles happen to assist the people and open the world up for people to travel and comunicate. It differs from this games version in that you do not attack you build and guide only. #2 God Mode- Bosses are Exorcised from the land. in this new mode you exist in a realm unlike the land and generated by the proggress of the map with a minion per minion defeated and a miniboss per portal closed. in this realm your areas are finite in size but limitless in possibilities. You must play through this diablo like view of the God you play with and beat the evils holding back your people to make each region safe for mankind to progress his abilities and levels are linked to the other two modes of success. #3 Man mode- Like in this game you fight the monsters in the area before the main temple is built in order to sanctafy an area. The main difference is not a side scroller but a well thought out complex geography of map to explore and interact with. Once buildings exist you can enter them for more stuff and options.

GOD SIM, the word your looking for SNES Drunk is GOD SIM. Usually is refers to any game where you play as a God like entity who influences the fate of your followers through divine intervention, but you don't have direct control of the little things like where your followers build structures. Other examples of this include Peter Molynuex's Populous, and the Black and White games for PC. I once used the term Sim City to explain what this game is like to my Sister since she's not really a gamer and wouldn't really know all the Sim sub genre's like God Sim, She likes the SNES Sim City, and we use to have Sim Safari on PC when we were younger.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I first played this game. Was pretty shocked to see that I was god, ha ha. If anyone didn't know--the ActRaiser Symphonic Suite exists and it's really good. Here's a link: kzfaq.info/sun/PL506A52733E3A5CE3 to all of the songs, remastered with an actual orchestra. I stumbled across it a long time ago, but it's remained one of my favorite orchestral performances for quite a while. (I think Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec is my favorite, if you haven't listened to that you should--if you like music that is)

I played and beat this game on an emulator cuz my physical copy wouldn't work. I had to use my ps4 controller. So they the whole game until the last bunch of bosses I had no idea how to use my magic. So I beat all the bosses the first time with no magic. But I looked up how to use it to finally when it came to the Death island bosses, again.

I tried playing the Japanese version of this just to see what would be different aside from the language, and... man, it feels a lot tougher. Pretty sure you can find all the differences on The Cutting Room Floor website, but it's significantly harder, and that's without expert mode.

weird. everyone always made this look like a basic platformer mixed with sim city. but after this review, i might try it out.

Does there exist a “No Village Sim” hack of it because I dislike city building? (I want to like ActRaiser though) I want all action and no city building.
