In this episode from TAC-TV, Larry takes an array of bolt action rifles from Mile High Shooting and Accuracy International through a course designed to put firing positions and firearm manipulation to the test. Larry also compares the lightweight AR platform against the heavier bolt actions and the differences shooters need to be aware of when it comes to firing positions.

I was sniper in FDF about 13 years ago when our TRG-42 project was being implemented and tested out. Me and my team got a chance to test out the AP and API bullets, the AP punched right through the side armor of the BMP-1, API was less more consistent, we had some cases where it penetrated the armor when it wasn't angled, but more often it just made a nice looking sparks, nothing more :) Haven't seen the AP rounds being used anymore thought, only those standard Lapua Lockbase bullets.

I'm from the Netherlands and the Dutch army is using the Accuarcy International .338 since 1997. During the conflict in Bosnia in the'90's, it was to much overpower. So the Army seeked for another option to fill in the gab between Diemaco C7A1 5,56mm and AI .338. SF Commandos even took the Stone Age FN FAL with KRR62 scope to Afghanistan in the first years: accurate semi auto 7,62mm up to 700 meters. Very fast the HK417 was issued but the AI.338 was very handy to engage targets over 1000 meters away from fixed positions.

Mr. Vickers I have an immense amount of admiration for you. Plus, you never cease to amaze me when it comes to unique & innovative videos on your channel! I'm always a fervent enthusiast when it comes to testing terminal ballistics & penetration tests conducted on the range. I was pretty sure that the Lapua Magnum .338 8.6x70mm would obviously deliver the most kinetic energy. At 100yrds the Lapua Magnum firing Lapua 250 grain FMJ-LB delivers 4,413 FT-LBSF while the 7.62x51 .308 Hornady 150 grain BT-FMJ delivers half of that kinetic Energy 2497 FT-LBSF. How about testing various API "armor piercing incendiary" cartridges.

Just a little friendly advice for any new shooters thinking about using the vehicle hood benchrest. If you're benchresting over the hood of a vehicle someone wants to drive home without their head hanging out the window, make sure you're winshield doesn't happy and chips or cracks. Those are a spiderwebbed windshield waiting to happen when rifle muzzle blast concussion smacks the glass just wrong. And the bigger the blast and/or closer to muzzle is to the windshield, the more likely you are to "frag" your glass. Larry has a cover on the hood here and that's another good idea. You'd be surprised how easy it is to put nice war wound powder burn on your hood. Pistols can do a really good job of it depending on the cartridge and pistol. Especially with lots of "reps".

You should do a video on how to effectively use your CCW in a public setting like a bank if you happen to be there at the same time as a robber. We heard about the case in Chicago (one of many involving law abiding citizens protecting themselves and the community) where an armed robber was shot dead by a citizen with a CCW. From a Delta operator's perspective, what are the key points to accurately assess the situation and which tactics to employ if such an occasion arises? One of the many criticisms anti-gunners make is that CCW holders will shoot wildly, potentially killing innocent civilians. I think an informative video by you would debunk these myths and give an accurate picture of how and when to use your CCW if the situation calls for it.

+GR8 B8 I would prefer an average citizen shooting in a crowded building I was in over an officer anyways, if I ever have to pull my gun I'm responsible for where the bullet goes, an officer not as much they have legal protection and I have none. I shoot with a few cops and they aren't the best shooters especially if their shotgun or m4 comes out, its kinda scary.

+ST8KFINGER He could always just be friendly and offer to help the criminal by holding his bag open while he loads it with cash. Should probably hold the door for him on his way out too since his hands will be full of other peoples money... Because with that defeatist apathetic attitude he's more likely to have any gun he tries to pull out taken away and used on him then being able to effectively stop the threat. I agree with you on most cops ability to shoot as well, I've only ever seen a handful that were able to shoot either on par or better than I can. I don't consider myself to be anything special or more than an average shooter among guys that are into guns either. Each time they were on static ranges with little to no stress involved, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near them if they had to shoot in a stressful situation.
@ST8KFINGER

+- YosemiteSam357 I'm not trying to trash talk cops but for the most part they are not gun guys and qualifying is a hassle not a fun afternoon. maby its just the podunk cops I know but they seem to like muzzle flashing with a loaded chamber and anytime they have a gun in their hand their finger is on the trigger. I lost a lot of respect a few months ago when I tried to help save a neighbor that rolled a tractor into a creek and died, we had the tractor off of them, tried CPR, and got the family there before the first sheriff showed up then the a hole sheriff was snickering about it, I can only imagine that guy showing up to an active shooter situation, if a woman rolling a tractor was funny he would really think a bank robbery was hilarious.

An idea: for the 5.56 splatter from the mini van and cinder block, have cardboard target vs medal target behind to see if the splatter/fragments can cause penetration to the cardboard, this could simulate skin damage or skin penetration. Not needed for the 308 or 338 for obvious reasons. Thanks.
