extra ammo is only ever as good as that ammo's effectiveness at killing bugs, and the need for extra ammo upgrades definitely comes more into question with the deep dive format than any other with how much nitra you can hold onto throughout. i will almost always take extra damage over more ammo because extra damage keeps me alive in the first place while extra ammo only matters if I make it that far without having completed the main objectives already (which isn't a big ask at all for competent teams)
@peterstrm38523 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if you know this but the Promotion fee is actually accounted for. There is a small section on the promotion screen that says all damages and repairs on Deep Rock equipment must be accounted and paid for by the dwarves themselves (This isnt charity after all!) Kind of a small and fun detail to explain why you have to pay to promote:)

My recommendation for deep dives is if you do them solo, use as much ammo as you want. Every bug you kill is one less bug that might bite you in the ass later, and by having access to all 4 resupply containers ammo is plentiful. If you chose to ignore that one oppressor's, it'll be back 100% of the time.

A tip for those encountering egg hunts: The amount of big swarms (announced swarms) that can happen when digging out an egg is constant, though different for each tier of egg hunt. 4 eggs is guaranteed to give you exactly 1 swarm, 6 eggs will give you 2 and 8 eggs will give you 3. You can't determine which egg will trigger a big swarm, but you can be sure that if all big swarms have already been triggered you will not get another big one, and if you only have one egg left to dig up and you have one big swarm left it's guaranteed to trigger. I'd advise against calling the drop pod right after triggering one. Trust me, you'd rather not fight a swarm and the way-back-blockage at the same time if you can barely handle one or the other.

I didn't know there's no late joining for deep dives so I soloed the damn thing (while holding onto a faint hope of calvary) as gunner in Magma core region. 1st elimination (mactera swarms) 2nd morkite mining 3rd elimination (cave leech clusters) again 1st one was painful as I relied heavily on my revolver for the mactera, but that meant I was using my ammo around the clock and it was so damn hard to find nitra for some reason. Since I was soloing this shit, I had to of course, dig out my path of evasion and plan accordingly, ziplines wouldn't work cuz they're slow and my enemies shoot, fall the wrong way and I die. The fact that explosions will create hot rocks regardless was frustrating not the mention the vents.

Awesome video! Don't worry us greybeards still like the content :D About nitra, at least in my experience I've had very few dives where it's in short supply. Obviously you shouldn't spam 10 resups in the first stage, but don't fall into the trap of "imma try and save as much nitra as possible" and then run out of ammo mid fight especially in an EDD. Preventative resups have saved my life and my team's life quite a few times. R&S!

Nitra management is essential, and part of that is knowing when to call resupplies. Generally you can get through a regular DD with one resupply on stage 1, leaving more for the more challenging stages. But I try to avoid calling them just before exiting the stage; so long as there's enough ammo to get back to the drop pod, better to fill up at the start of the next stage because maybe some of the team don't need it just yet (and any supplies left at the end of the stage are lost). This frugal approach can simplify the final stage a lot. If you've got a big nitra surplus, you can go straight for the final objectives and not worry about mining or ammo conservation.

@Real_RUBB3R Жыл бұрын
Even though I'm already well versed in Deep Dives, I love watching videos like this, just to see how well they're explained. One thing I will say though, for any greenbeards looking to get into Deep Dives, the part mentioned at 5:27 about the Hazard Levels is mostly irrelevant. All this means is that projectiles from Spitballers and Acid Spitter for example will be faster than on lower Hazard levels, and enemy health and damage will increase. This also scales with how many dwarves are in a single mission for most enemies, but again, it's mostly irrelevant. The true difficulty comes from the cave layout itself. You could play even all the way up to a theoretical Hazard 6, but have an extremely easy time simply because the cave layout is open and easy to roam about. It'll be a little more difficult because you need to constantly be moving about, but with an open cave, that should be easy work. On the other hand, you could have an extremely difficult time on even just Hazard 3 if the cave is incredibly cluttered and cramped. As a relatively new player who has roughly 560 hours in the game, this comes from experience. I used to have a hard time on even just Hazard 4 missions, but now, Hazard 4 missions feel pretty easy, and I do them regularly. One perk I'd recommend using on every dwarf except for Scout is Dash, this allows you to get out of almost any tight situation instantly, as long as it isn't on cooldown. For Scout I would use Field Medic instead, having an instant revive for your teammates is invaluable, and it's best fit for Scout since you can get in and get out very quickly with your grappling gun. And if you have the extra Active Perk slot for it, bring Iron Will. Iron will might seem like a not so great perk at first, as even at max level, it only lets you get up for another 12 seconds, and then you go down again, right? Well, that isn't entirely true. If you gain health in any way before you go down automatically, you'll actually remain standing, until you take enough damage to go down again. This means you can grab some red sugar or health from a resupply, or if you have Vampire as a Passive Perk, you can quickly power attack a medium sized enemy (Which is a Grunt or anything larger) to kill it, and remain standing. You're also entirely invulnerable until the time you would normally go down without health, so you can rush in to revive a teammate as long as it's mostly safe and you won't go down again after reviving them, or while trying to. The fact you can stay standing can be a game changer, and make or break a mission being successful, which is why I always bring it no matter what. If you use Iron Will to get back up and use Vampire to get your health, I would recommend using the power attack damage bonus upgrade for your pickaxe, doing twice the damage with your pickaxe can really be helpful in some situations, and guarantees you'll get the kill quick enough as long as you power attack either a Grunt, Slasher, or Grunt Guard. Keep in mind that the effects of Vampire work for anything classified as Melee, so your normal pickaxe swing works, Driller's drills and impact axe work, and perhaps another thing here or there.

3:15 I like to think that DRG isn't exactly a mining company. More like an agency or guild even where they have members, "employees", on call to do tasks and it's up to the employee to take on that task. Everything they collect or don't collect reflects their payments. Since they probably aren't hourly they are selling everything they find to DRG. Probably why they won't hesitate to leave you behind, No dwarf? No payment needed. Also look at ammo resupply. That ammo is a ready to go drop pod that they only send you after you collect a payment pretty much. They company doesn't say what it's for, they don't want gold they specifically want nitra. Hence why you pay to gain access to higher level weapons, upgrades, and promotions. You don't earn them by recognition you pay the company to get them, not to mention it cost creds and materials, so you can have better odds at better money. DRG is all about spending money to make it lol.

If you need to clear a bunch of enemies fast and you kmow for a fact you're going to die, do a kamikaze. Equip: Vampire, See You in Hell, and Iron Will. You can grapple to the ceiling to down yourself, clear all the bugs around you, and then Iron Will so you can power strike the nearest grunt. I've clutched several missions this way. I feel more could be said about how to build loadouts for deep dives, if there's a bunch of different objectives. Still good vid, I'm psyched to have a go after I promote.

I haven't tried any Deep Dives yet, but I'm about to Promote my Engineer and my brother has already promoted his Driller, so this is really useful information before we even try.

My first deep dive ended when a bulk detonator decided to pop in while we were doing a repair thing for salvage ops. That sucked.

The promotion cost is to assure you keep all your awesome gear of course!
