The joke was mainly in reference to the drama that surrounded her casting in Ghost in the Shell. Her being married to Colin was just the cherry on top

The joke that Colin refused to read off the cue card cause the black man was holding it is actually horribly offensive and hilarious.

You need to watch the recent ones going back at least 3 seasons. Colin Jost has really leveled up his jokes and has gotten revenge on Michael Che recently.

The funniest part of at least the initial joke swap was that Che thought Colin was messing with him when he made the suggestion. Che goes home and starts writing some very dark jokes expecting Colin is going to do the same. You can see it in the first few clips but Che's jokes were to get Colin to appear racist while Colins jokes were most of the time about Che himself. It snowballed from there and is one of my newest SNL bits that I like (The bevis/butthead one is also pretty funny.).

You know it's ironic that the show is just hohum w a funny skit every once in awhile & weekend update is really good, Colin is the head writer for the entire show and they do have some funny individuals on the show,so I don't understand why it's so hit and miss
