A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ KZfaq. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of KZfaq I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on KZfaq won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This KZfaq channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

He's talking about getting retribution against a police informer who (wrongfully) ratted him out to the police for a stabbing. It's all in a Jamaican accent because, while he's a white Canadian man, he grew up in a Toronto Jamaican neighbourhood.

In a '93 documentary, Snow says the line implies fisticuffs-“'A licky boom-boom down' means, like, I'll hit down the informer; I'll knock the informer out”-yet the music video's pantomimed gunshots suggest something more lethal.

of course he said that in an interview. But it means he was going to shoot him.
@jadedandbitter
@jadedandbitter 3 жыл бұрын
@@chrisragona3945 it can mean both. "Lick" is used in its meaning as a physical assault, as in "he wants to fight? I'll give him a licking", or "takes a licking and keeps on ticking". Bum bum means butt, so he is literally saying "ill kick his ass". BUT emphasing the bum bum the way he does, he uses it as onomatopaeia for the noise of gunshots. So now its like "ill shoot his ass". But it seriously could be interpreted either way, so he wasnt lying-just not telling the whole truth.

I grew up Vancouver in the 70s/80s and "lick" meant beat in some kind of competition, but it usually referred to a fight. Getting a "licking" though, specifically meant getting a spanking or beating from a parent, as a punishment. That was still kosher in those days. The neighbourhood was ethnically mixed with mainly caucasian, chinese, portugese and native indian, but no jamaican at all.

It's a song mixing old and (relatively) new while talking about fads and trends. Your reactions bring older songs to light for a whole new generation, somewhat like this song does. So by reacting to it you would be bringing the music of Propellerheads to a new generation, who brought Shirley Bassey to their generation. (or something like that) Take care and stay safe!

I'm pretty sure when he says Lick a boom ,he means to shoot at some one ,or hit someone with something like lick a shot,(btw -lick a shot by Cypress Hill another classic tune of the album Black Sunday which is in my top fifteen hip-hop albums of all time could be top ten but it's maybe 11 or 12 but they always change again everytime I listen to it u should do some more of Cypress Hill bro💯🤔🔥 They are legends of the game, anyway back to the subject -)or lick a man down with a bat or a hammer or something or even sometimes a punch It just means to f**k someone up, I think anyway 🤔😂✌️😎Plus the song is called Informer,so that's what I think he means, shooting at a snitch or an enemy,(I think anyway I ain't Jamaican so who am I to chat 😂💯) Another great reaction bro keep growing and staying up, One of the best reactions channels,no question about it, and I think u right there are too many channels that pause the video every 2seconds some times it's better to wait for the song to play through then react , 💯✌️🙏😎

Are you sure you have never "heard" it? Con Calma by Daddy Yankee, is essentially a half cover, it uses the music and Snow even shows up to do the one English part.

Love the channel, brother. If you don't mind me making a suggestion for a song or two for you to react to: if you like this, you would REALLY dig King Yellowman. 👑 Look up either Yellow Like Cheese or Lost Mi Love. Both are some favorites of mine. Gotta love having Jamaican co workers. Lol. Keep doin what and how you do. ✌

Every time I hear this it reminds me of the Chris Rock special from the early 2000's. You know, the one where he talks about the Tossed Salad Guy, from the HBO Jailhouse Special. Because in the HBO bio, this song is playing while an inmate talks about intimate moments shared by 2 men in close quarters.

Hiya, Snow is a fellow Canadian from Scarborough, Ontario (near Toronto) who grew up in a predominately Jamaican neighbourhood. As I understand it, 'a licky boom boom dem' means the "informers" are "ass-kissers" in Jamaican.

From what I can gather people from the region are saying here, "I lick yuh, boom boom, down" seems to be equivalent to "I'll fix your wagon" or "I'm gonna getcha" That is, he is saying he is gonna get revenge
