He's actually talking about getting rid of the snitch who put him in prison. "I licky boom boom dem" means taking care of the rat, shooting the informer down. And this is a true story, he was sent to jail for a crime he didn't commit because someone threw him under the bus. And nothing like a white canadian reggae rapper to break the stereotypes 🤣

"lick your bum bum down" is a Caribbean term for I'm going to knock you off the planet ...or get rid of you .....to knock somebody down. He doesn't look like it but he was the real deal Gangsta in the day. He recorded this, but was actually in the can on an assault charge when it blew up and started getting airplay! Snow was charged and imprisoned for attempted murder but was later released. He grew up in a mostly Jamaican neighborhood. He's not putting on an act, this is what he listened to and was around all the time!

He's from Canada, lived in one of Toronto's Jamaican projects, there he picked up the Jamaican language and slang. This song was about when he was sent to prison for double murder for a year, falsely accused of course and he got freed. The video for this song was made just before he went in prison for about 6 or 8 months for assault, it premiered when he was part way through his sentence and when he got released, he got picked up by a stretched limo to the shocked faces of the prison guards.

He is singing in Jamaican Patois. He picked it up growing up in the Jamaican projects in Toronto Canada. Funny thing is, most of us from Ontario pretty much know exactly what he is saying.

He's from Toronto, Canada. Funny thing, this guy was in jail on attempted murder charges when this song came out and became a hit. Not what you'd expect a 'gangsta' musician to look like 😂

Yeah, he had to go back to Toronto after meeting Shan to answer a charge for beating (I think it was a rival) gang member with a crowbar. It was that aggravated assault charge he was doing time for when the song hit number 1

Yes he still do music. And his a proud Irish 🍀guy born and raised in Canada Ontario in the projects of ABG Allenberry. I got all his albums let me tell you beautiful masterpieces.

He's from Toronto, and he's speaking in Patois. He grew up in the projects in Scarborough. Unfortunately, he showed up about the same time as Vanilla Ice, and was labelled a fake. He's genuine. 'Licky boom boom down' is Jamaican slang for 'I'm going to shoot you'. Snow was in prison for attempted murder when this song was released. The first time he saw the video was from his jail cell.

Little did we know he was anything but an imposter. He’s still very respected in Jamaica and has his own radio show. My wife is from Kingston and she loves Snow. This song was the highest selling record in the history of Jamaica at the time. He topped Bob Marley in sales.

It wasn't until years later that I realized this was more than an anthem song. Regardless, this is an all time classic... 20 years from now, on oldies 98.1(or your local oldies station) Informer will be playing and your kids/grand kids will be bitching about the oldies.

@@willowb1527 Matisyahu is still around but he died his hair and changed his appearance drastically. No more of the Jewish thing. I think he still performs. I remember him from Phish tour in the early 90’s. Him and a few Hasidics used to party and go to a lot of Phish shows.
