That's nice property you have. I like that the cows have the trees , they can lay under and hide their calves . And the trees add more to the land

Trees are definitely great for the cows to have shade, and it's a lot more interesting than just empty fields

This'll seem weird but I met a cow once - a bull, actually - and haven't been able to eat meat again just because that half hour meeting at a friend's farm was... hard to describe. He was just so sweet. Peace, everyone.

Congrats on the new addition! We recently bought our first Highlands including a Silver bull to cross our with our Dexter cattle. I am curious if you have ever found any information on color genetics with highlands?

i dont know if the cows are like the horses. horses go off to foal. because another mare, who doesnt have milk, will try to steal the foal. foals dont have great vision the first week or so. so they'll follow any large moving thing.

Rotating bulls and separate fields. The calves from 2020 were from white walker, last year's calves were from a different bull. White walker is leaving the farm in about 2 weeks and we will be adding a different one soon

If you were not keeping any of the bulls offspring you could keep them. We decided to keep a few of his calves, so we will need a new bull

How long does it take to raise a highland from a calf to butcher weight?

Theyre a little slow growing. I would say between 18 months and 2 years would get it to the right size.

I do not like to see that you always try to get near them also when you see how nervous the mother gets with it, she gets away. Please let them in peace, you do not need to make them into stress in order to film for youtube.
