A very nicely written scene between the Littles and the orphanage lady that beautifully unravels the twist. Probably the best part in the entire film. There's a moment of bereavement in which they're misunderstanding each other because the lady is thinking it's going horrible with Stuart and the Littles are grieving having left Stuart and Snowbell is sitting right there listening. The audience may have had suspicions as Snowbell wanted Stuart out but there was no scene about the cats interrogating the mouse couple to basically kidnap Stuart. We didn't know about Stuart's history until she revealed that they were long dead so it was a good twist.

Let me see if I can get this straight - and, if I remember from the police scene: Stuart's REAL parents were murdered in what appeared to be "an accident" - the pyramid soup can collapse Stuart ended up in an oprhanage - until the Littles adopted him and treated him like their second son (little George thought of him as his little brother - even though he initially didn't like him) The Stouts came and reclaimed him as their "son" - when in fact, they were approached by Smoky and his cat-gang to fetch Stuart out of the Little house - and bring him to them, to apparently kill him off. (they posed as his parents, claiming that they weren't prosperous enough to take care of him - I think they mentioned him being "the runt" of the mouse-litter) The adoption lady came to bring this to the Littles' attention after the Stouts took him. The police get involved, revealing the Stouts as mouse-killers.

Don't forget, if it's your first time watching the movie, you're figuring all of this out at the same time as the Littles are. There was no scene that established exactly what Smokey's plan was until this moment. Even in a family movie, M. Night Shamalan is the king of the plot twist.

This part didn’t make sense to me if Stuart’s parents (which were imposters) came back three days ago to take him back then where did the “ six months after they came back from grocery shopping” came from?
