Cheat-code for Switch riding: Traverse long slopes while riding Switch. Helps build "opposite" muscles & improves your feel for it with less risk of catching an edge.

I'm all about learning things on both sides. I'm an art teacher by trade. A challenge I give the kids is having them draw with their non dominant hand. I appreciate being ambidextrous and like to share the experience.

Switch is where i stand out amongs my peers. Alot of guys that can do tricks that i cant do are baffled by how i approach rails and jumps in switch.

That first lift ride switch was so scary! And my board felt like a ton of bricks! I do two switch runs every time I go out (completely switch - even riding the lifts) I haven't committed to a full day of switch, but I will sometime this season

I've started snowboarding last week and today It will be my fourth time. From the very first day I tried learning both sides with my instructor. Last time i started doing short turns on both sides and it's so much easier if right from the start you are used to the feeling of using both sides. My second time I had another teacher who only made me turn on regular and it was so strange 🤣

I practice switch more often when it's getting warm out. That way catching my edge just cools me off in the snow lol

I love riding switch, but I usually haev to adjsut my bindings to do it. I like a more forward pointing stance set toward the back of the board. With switch I like to do a centred duck stance.

100% agree on the helmet tip! Saved my life in Ushuaia, got a concussion and broke the helmet in half but I’m here to tell the story 🙏🤙🏂⛑️

When I started riding switch I was exaggerating getting my back end around, worried I couldn't complete the turn...when I started doing smaller, more subtle turns everything fell into place

I hope you have a chance to ride switch on power in Blackcomb Glacier in Whistler on a sunny bluebird day someday, Kevin. I prefer to ride switch there for the view (my switch side is left-foot forward - I'm a goofy rider with right-foot forward).

Thank you. But before I receive anything, I hope to be able to donate to the channel someday. Still list of snowboard gears to replace is piling up and I need to save money for them.

It was cool to hear you comment on what felt awkward and made you feel nervous. I finally went out for the first time this season, and on a new board, AND in a place I've never been before lol. I was kinda down on myself because I felt awkward and nervous about some stuff but hearing a great rider like you say that too makes me feel better lol

Just started learning snowboarding and the best way to learn switch is on mellow slopes for sure. Just practice just as that guy did at the end of this video and you'll be set.

So much different trying to do turns on switch because of that shorter nose and longer tail unless the board is a true twin

I think my biggest question is it even possible to properly ride switch when your binding stance are both posi degrees? my current stance is +21Ffoot/+6Bfoot, I guess the same question would apply to a board that isnt twinsided, like a pow board with a flared tail...
@JackOfHearts42
@JackOfHearts42 Жыл бұрын
Typically, its not something you do with those setups. Its more for a twin board with a centred duck stance. I ride similar to you now, but I learned on a 15/-15 which is when I did switch more often. Nowadays I do very little switch because of my +18/-6 stance.

Is there really much of a reason to skate as switch? Why not just ride normal on the lifts and then ride switch once you’re strapped in? This is what I do to ride switch because I feel like there’s really no need to do the skating part differently. Am I wrong in this? If so, why?

When riding switch where do you recommend the binding degrees, I was told it should be duck stance, is that true? Thanks in advance for responding.

Center your bindings. And choose symetricsl angles for bindings to encourage switch riding..i ride 13 degrees and -13 degrees on the other binding
