Did you know that Majima in Yakuza 0 has 2 taunt animations in Thug Style? The first taunt is where you near an enemy and taunt. The second taunt is where you grab someone and taunt. (This is similar to Akiyama's ability, "Scolding Glare") After performing a grab taunt, the enemy will escape from your grab. This is perfect for following up with the heat action, "Essence of the Thug: Pursuit".

Lotus Flare Fist does have ONE use which is cheesing Lau in Y3 since his claw phase makes him more passive than a grandma with arthritis on a wheelchair and he doesn't try to avoid the charged attack

Lotus flare fist always felt like a 50/50 chance of hitting bosses but when you do you get all that heat so I think its useful, and it knocks them down usually

I think its perfectly fine and even welcomed (imo) to get nitpicky about some of the weird abilities in the games. After 100s, maybes 1000s of hours in all of these games I don't think this ever needs to be viewed as an attack on the series but just a fun video highlighting some of the niche little annoyances within an overall fantastic line of games. I think it gets really bad when you try to talk up something way more than it needs to be discussed but I don think you've ever done that

If the Get-Up-Crane-Switch was just that, a quick get up that lets you immediately dodge away or attack, I would've loved it

As somebody else says, I think the Lotus charge fist gives a lot of heat if it lands, so that's it's one benefit.

I actually found the charges in 6 to be pretty decent. They’re not great in combos but the base charge kick without any light attacks does hood damage and can lead into a heat action if you’re in extreme heat mode.

I was absolutely bewildered when I got all three of the friendship boosts and encountering a friend still did like, literally fuck all.

In yakuza 6, Kiryu can go into heat mode and then unleash his charge attacks as a means to pull off some of the most brutal heat actions in that game. In lost judgement, when in EX mode in tiger style, Yagami can charge every part of his YYYY combo for some serious damage before finishing off with the final Ex action. It’s good at destroying bosses.

Another useless snake feature are the EX ○ grab counters, they requiere an enemy to grab you while in ex boost AND not use the universal ex action, you have to think about pressing ○ or the grab button and the payoff is a nice animation but zero damage

The lotus first is bad but has some pretty good upside like the more heat you have the more damage it does and it is used to build heat as well

i only really used the yakuza 3 charge attack once and that was during the hamazaki fight on hard mode, you could sort off wall bound him using that. but i only used it cause i didnt have the komaki techniques yet

Majima's freeze pose counter in Breaker feels pretty damn useless especially given that you already have the more reliable elbow counter. You have to go out of you way to not hit anyone to set up the counter to get the opportunity to use it and the pose isn't held for very long.

It's a bit of a bummer seeing Judgement kinda nerf the friendly NPC thing for combat from some of the Yak games. If I remember right, a couple of them, like K2, had area-specific heat moves where a buddy you made in-game would toss you a unique weapon or provide an assist for a heat move. Not always the most practical to set up, but it was nice to see the big city still have some life in it post-side quests.

Honestly, the one ability I still find almost no use for is the one heat action in Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami where you punch an opponent across the street after stunning them with Rush. It does so little damage for how much you have to damage the enemies in return, and alternatively, you could just switch to Beast or Dragon and get way more damage off. It really is the essence of “All that for a drop of blood.”

Constantly failing that Yakuza 3 challenge because Lotus flare fist wouldn't work half the time. Enemies hitting me, missing, thinking the charge animation is done but it actually isn't and it taking like, 5 seconds to charge make it quite bad.

i think phantom turn from the breaker style is pretty useless considering that it wastes a lot of heat and it's not even that good of a block/dodge

All abilities are bad when compared to picking up weapons off the streets. I don't need no fancy kung fu moves, I got a bike (and sometimes a traffic cone)

I hate mashing x and don't know why they brought it back, so I swap to crane whenever I can.

I disagree wit the lotus attack in Y3. My normal attacks do nothing so the lotus attack is the only reliable way to damage enemies and also to stun them

I just started Lost Judgement and tbh as cool as the combat is, why do I have to buy the same move for every style individually??

Kiwami 2's Situational, positional, encounter opening Heat Moves were simply not worth the time and effort to get them all. They required a sidequest to be ENABLED to be unlocked, They took up precious moderately large amounts of XP in a game that's annoying to grind them out. They can only be used depending on where each one is, which would be fine since there's plenty of situational Heat Moves, except They can only be used on ONE guy, when the fight STARTS, IF you have Heat ready, IF you don't miss the QTE that can genuinely catch you by surprise because you forgot that you had it in this spot. Simply too many hurdles for what amounts to making one guy start with less HP at the start of an encounter. Could have fixed it by making it available at any time if you're in the right area. Then you could maybe finish a fight with having an NPC Assist by tossing the weapon you use the Heat Move for.

Honestly, the Ashura spirit from yakuza 3,4 and 5 kinda sucked. Sure, it gave you health at the cost of emptying your heat bar, but not only is it completely wasteful, the health you receive is complete piss.

Essence of Jumping from Yakuza 3 and 4 is a pretty bad technique. It's a heat move that requires a railing to be between you and the enemy, which happens so infrequently in both games, it makes you wonder why it was even introduced. There's pretty much no reason to ever go behind a railing in these games because you have less real estate to move around.
