Me too Love the Yamaha reliability!! Been riding Yamis 4 ever my 1st sled was a 92 Exciter. I heard from a good source that Yamaha is working on a 850 2stroke Turbo 100% Yamaha no Cat involvement. I want to believe its true Ik we have been hearing all the rumors forever and they never happen

Polaris has Ski Doo on handling but Ski Doo has them beat on suspension they will just keep going back and forth competing on horsepower neither brand is very reliable but give them credit they have the balls to keep breaking barriers with innovation Ski Doo even more so

@@brandenjoseph604 No way, not a chance. The Matryx ergos and handling are a generation ahead of the G5. I’ve owned both. Ski doo wins on suspension, fit and finish, adjustability, and accessory integration.

I had a methanol injection system on my big turbo built track car and I would use winter windshield wash,it’s methanol and water. It’s a great cheaper alternative to name brand stuff with the same ingredients.

A 1700 opposed piston 2 stroke turn could be built with 2 850’s with tge cranks geared and a liner!

Great timing i have a friend that was waiting for this. Good quick presentation. This development war is insane ! Ski doo and Polaris are just going at it every year. If Yamaha cat have a good base with the catalist chassis and the yamaha engine fits good in it….this is going to be the best times for buying a snowmobile.

@@PartikleDestroyer Yep - this is the problem for sure. Costs go up, ride times go down. At some point, it's not gunna be worth the fun vs bank acct. (it's pretty much there for me already). I have been out 4X this year - and now to drive up to New Liskeard for a weekend, seems a bit outrageous with fuel costs .....but I still will go. lol

Finally they put the turbo in a trail sled! Time to say goodbye to. my 22 xr-s and order one of these. My only gripe is they don't offer track options so I'll need to switch the track out immediately to a ice ripper 1.5

wow, very cool. skunk works just keeps inovating. I know methanol has been around but not sure if its been on 2 strokes. and, all the other little features and gadgets. never been a skidoo guy but i admire there inovating and keep making things better. it, also pushes the other sled makers to do the same and in the end everyone benefits.. ♥

Great technology involved but they still have the yellow bottom plastics near the exhaust that turn black and are impossible to clean. You can tell on your demo. But great video put in!

Since you did the vr1 boost overview and ride how do they compare to each other? Smoothness? all out pull? Quickness? I hear the boost is kinda uneventful until upper mid to top. Oldsmobile used methanol on their alu turbo v8 in the 60's. Customers tended not to keep up with filling the methanol. We've come a little way with sensing and control.

Where are we carrying the Spray for the intercooler in the woods... Like Major parts of the back back woods here in Canada. Along with the shorter range of Fuel. ugg. Along with the reg gas in a lot of back woods gas stops. Looks like Yam/Cat again next year.

“I would have launched right over that cabin over there” lol. Love the new headlights, hated the ninja turtle look on the 23’s. Brand new sled and the tunnel is already showing black dust, that’s why I will only ever get a sled with a black tunnel, can’t keep the coloured tunnel clean, they always look dirty. I wonder how this sled compares to the 900 Ace Turbo R? We need a comparison between the two and some radar runs.

The "ninja turtle" look is and has been for the mountain sleds, not the trail sleds. The Gen 5 trail sleds from last year had the same look as the sled in this video.

Interested to see how Doo is designating the MXZ and renegade now, the MXZ XRS 850 Turbo R is basically what we knew as a renegade XRS but now is titled as the MXZ with a 137… interesting

Pretty much. All Renegades are now 137-inch 4-strokes (with the exception of the Enduro) featuring the wider side panels to accommodate the engine. MXZ is 2-stroke and comes in 129 and 137 (dare I say like the Indy)...

Looks good. 118 Gauge tho? We all know how accurate Doo’s gauge’s are. Hopefully the new gauge’s are better. With this Doo & the Pol 850 Turbo….the 998 may be in trouble. Yamaha can solve that in a hurry but will they? Interesting times in the speed zone.

Its too bad the REAL Competition model 600R can't get the 10.25 display and SHOT start. Now that'd be a winning Competition snowmobile. Ski Doo always falls short when it comes to allowing consumers any choices whatsoever.

10.25 isn't a big deal but I really wish 600r had the shot. It's actually the comp edition sled, this is a moniker using comp pkg to hype it up. 600r has 22 click adjustment shocks and the turbo has soft-med-firm settings.. can't "compete" with this sled.

When you stop and think about it, no other company can compare to Ski Doo when it comes to engineering. Ski Doo is owned by Bombardier. Bombardier makes some of the best private jets, trains and other transportation products in the world. To make a Ski Doo is probably pretty easy for them. Plus, they invented the snowmobile and have been developing it for over 60 years.

The startup at the beginning of the video made my dog perk right up. He loves running with snowmobiles (herding dog). Still not sure how water injection on a 2t works. Water and 2 strokes usually don't mix. Maybe they inject it far away enough from the reeds that it vaporizes before it enters the engine.

My 14 year old son smoked my buddies Mach z and my Thundercat, a 850 ski doo, a 800 ctec and a 800 Suzuki cat all weekend in Maine on a 18 zr 6000. It’s all in the setup of the handling that matters. Unless you are running lakes or up in Michigan you can’t beat a sled that utilizes every once of power while still sticking to the trail.

Ski-Doo claimed in their intro that the "competitive trail turbo" only had 172 horsepower. I would assume they're talking about Polaris but I don't know how accurate that is. We need a dyno and some racing...and a scale.

@@snowtrax yeah they can claim there competitors are as low hp as they want but the mid 2010 800 where said to jave around 165hp, we know they didn't but its hard to not to assume a stock 850 patriot should be ruffly around 165 to 170. I find it more a stretch to think a 850 with turbo would be only 172 then to think it would be around 185.... plus they probably took one new out the crate not broken in.

Maybe I'm a novice, but is braking power really necessary? Almost every sled I've owned could easily lock up the track, i feel like traction is more important when it comes to braking.

Yes... big smile factor. The sleds we tested were fully studded... and all they did was dig big trenches. But it sounds and feels pretty cool.
