This week I get some of my much needed shop organizing done, moving the hardware bin, surface grinder, and the shaper. We also unload some heavy iron I bought for another shop project coming up soon.
I have a short PPE segment in there talking about my work boots.

A handy rule to keep in your head: The 1/4" rule for quickly estimating steel plate weight. A 1ft x 1ft x 1/4" plate weighs 10 lbs. Your plate is 3/4 thick so 3 x 10 = 30 lbs. Your plate size is 8 x 2.5 = 20 square feet. 20 x 30 = 600 lbs. Not exact, but simple in-your-head calcs for the field.

M20x2,5 requires 17,5mm drill indeed. Drill size voor all metric taps is always OD minus the pitch. But i'm pretty shure you knew that... About the magnet, the problem isn't that the metal is too thin, but that it flexes and the magnet is flat on the bottom. We have a magnet for round stock that has two flats and a v-shape in between, that works pretty much all the time.

between the stacked cabinets you might want to put some of the foam web type drawer liner. just little squares at the corners.. it will stop the top one from sliding around.. the new work bench tube bottoms. make those out of solid stock shaped into square flanged inserts (shaper job) and drill and tap the hole off center. no weld.. they just slip in and support the tube.. why the offset for the foot thread.. so you change the foot location by several inches easily. you may need some of the pads farther in or farther out. you put it close to an inside corner.. instead of on a middle of the inside tube. on your engine hoist.. the brackets for the middle wheel set are bent.. the middle wheels camber is off. since you lift heavy stuff.. make up some new bolt on versions that have angled inserts from the bottom of the top plate to the side mounting plate. the top plate should go across the top of the square tube. and add some short triangular reinforcements or a bent over a vertical strut brace. only adds an inch. plus make a slip on knob for the down screw valve with a chain around a ring in a groove so you can pull it off and let it hang.

With those tan colored drawers you put next to the door ... be careful with how you have the wood underneath of them. As you have it with the metal about 1/2 way onto the wood, the cabinet is going to want to roll the wood when you get some appreciable weight in the cabinet. I'd highly suggest putting a 3rd piece in the center which would go between the rollers of the pallet jack if you need to move it. This should stabilize it well enough and keep it from rolling the wood on the sides.

I think that almost all door locks in Denmark are made by Ruko. its mainly a lock manufacturer. pretty cool that one of my countrymen visited you. i know that i love your tubes. and i think that with time this channel will be big in Denmark. i do what i can to put my friends on to it. About our taxes, yeah they are high. but we get a lot for the money. free hospital and health services. free education all life long. and a good financial safety net. so no one is ever without an income. And a big part of it also goes to subsidize our commerce. Thanks for this episode i just always look forward to these Saturday goodies. :-)

Hello Adam, Might save some knee time if you cut a light 2 x 4 and slipped it inside and across the 4x4 cribbing. Thinking about that bolt or nut etc. that will roll under the pieces you have up on the sleepers. Plus the chips and dirt that accumulates. Easy to do and saves a lot of crawling around. Take care. It seems like most clothing is made offshore these days. It's good to see American companies still in business. The two things I will gladly pay more for are socks and boots. When you're on your feet in boots ALL week long, having a good foot system in place makes all the difference. I found the Thorlo sock company about two years ago and they make some great socks that last a long time. They have extra padding in them and are great at wicking moisture.

You and a Burke bar got'er done.- I was looking at making similar machine feet using hockey pucks. - Take a well deserved rest and we will see you next time.

The Vidmar cabinets are meant to be bolted together, the knockouts are there. Additionally they should be bolted to the floor at least in the rear or to the wall thru the back knockouts to prevent tipping. Very dangerous if tipped while loaded with tools etc. each drawer will hold 400 lbs. I demo them by opening a drawer all the way and stand in the drawer while open. Nice work, good videos.

Really cool that Thomas and his family managed to make it to the southeast. I feel like most international visitors might hit NYC, FL Disneyworld, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and LA and miss most of the country. If you ever make it to Houston to see the space center, make sure to take the all-day tour. The less expensive 2 hour tour really doesn't go into any detail about anything with a whole lot of extremely vexing overly-general comments like "Rocket science is difficult". I have it on good authority that the long tour goes into a lot more of the interesting bits.

Looks awesome Adam. I am getting bench envy :) I put stuff on 4x4 cribs a lot. Take a beater and knock them fully under those cabs, when you need to move them you can just knock them back out a bit and ram the pallet jack under it. I have found having the cribs sticking out is a major tripping hazard, especially when near traffic lane like those cabs are. I used to be a mechanic, Red Wing make another great and comfy boot, and the soles last a good long time.

Hi Adam, Thanks for the video. I'll give the boots a good look. I currently wear Danner Power Foreman boots. Like your Throughgood boots are made in the USA. They are a good bit more expensive. Just under 400. Resoles run me 60 here in San Diego, CA. They use a composite toe, and have goretex lining. The laces have lasted me 4+ years. I'm sure there are plenty of quality made boots, and I would recommend these to anyone. I have had some very significant injuries to my right ankle (reconstructed in high school, then crushed in a motorcycle accident where they added 14 screws and a steel plate), and am willing to spend the money on shoes that allow me to stay on my feet as long as possible. Just wanted to pass on a thumbs up for a quality product.

Short explanation. Denmark has a progressive tax system. All citizens use the public sector in some way, and as a general principle all citizens must thus help pay for it. The tax funds are used to pay for the different expenses that Danish society has such as welfare benefits, state pension, child benefits and for public institutions such as schools, hospitals, libraries and the police. The Danish tax system is progressive. This means that the higher your income, the more taxes you have to pay. In many other countries citizens pay less tax than in Denmark, but in return they have to pay to go to school, to the hospital, the doctor's, etc. Denmark has its own Minister of Taxation, Ministry of Taxation and its own taxation laws.

Everything is about comprise, give some and take some. What you lose in some areas you gain in others, and vice versa. You may get efficient public transportation to the grocery store and "pay" almost nothing for that dentist appointment, but you have less freewill by taking home less pocket money every paycheck, no cheap car or big workshop, etc.

G Kuljian - Only 55% of Americans actually pay federal income tax. This is why taxpayers never see any real value for their money...there is half supporting not just themselves, but the other half. You want to see real change in this country? Only let those who file taxes vote.

Appreciate the effort to get things organized. My shop is is a little cramped and we have a lot of equipment that gets used intermittently depending on the jobs in the shop. We found putting just about everything, including machines and work tables on heavy trucks is really handy. Our welding/fab table top is about 5'x9'x1.25". Yeah, a heavy mother, but it was cheap. It will have wheels and retractable stiff legs under it = best of both worlds. Give it some thought as you consider your work table build. Good luck.
