I'm not even remotely a machinist, but I find Adam's work elegant and satisfying to watch. In this video, he achieves what sports professionals call "flow". It looks like he is moving too fast, and for many of us it would be way too fast. If the world of sports is any guide, Adam is very unlikely to make a mistake while in this state of flow. His shaper, which I saw many videos of being refurbished is BRUTAL, in an elegant way. What a joy to watch!

I chuckled out loud because I thought "Ain't that the truth." I was baffled why Adam liked the shaper so much at first, but it's really grown on me over time. Sure does leave a nice surface finish. It makes him happy to restore and use it so I actually like to see it being used in videos. It's so strange and kinda cute. When I first saw a shaper I thought "Was this this the very first industrial machine widely made? It's like they thought 'how do we automate a guy with a chisel?'"

I have a few of my Grand Dad's woodworking tools that I still use every day. He came over here from Ukraine in the 19th century and did all the interior woodwork at Peter Luger's Steak House in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. His tools are still building furniture to this day, working through my hands.

You have a bigger shaper lovin base than you think I bet. You could almost have a Abomb79-shaper channel where you show the entire shaping process in one shot. It's like watching a lava lamp or an hourglass. Relaxing and oddly satisfying. I work in IT for a radiology department. I joke that most of my life is watching progress indicators slowly count up or loading bars creep across the screen. Sometimes you just have to chill out, take it slow, and watch the machine do the work. I love the work you do Adam. Thanks!!!!
