I just hope we get a FULL product this time. When Frozen 2 was in the making, they didn't even get a full plot that made sense before Disney was like "yeah let's just make this the sequel", and that's why the plot had so many weird moments that made no sense at all. And as always, I hope it gets way darker than the original cause now all of the kids that watched this are basically grown up.

The plot for frozen 2 was actually pretty deep/dark….. Parents dying trying to figure out why their child was different. Indigenous people being betrayed by outsiders they thought they could trust all so that the outsiders could build something…. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

I really really hope Tomatoa is in this. Its definitely not what this film will be, but I hope Moana 3 is all about the realm of monsters. Always thought that was the aspect of the original that had the most potential for expansion.

BTW you can see Moana parents holding a baby boy... that could be her baby brother? ( or just a kid she knows on the island idk ) And there's a few shots with three new characters on her boat : a teen , a male , and a old man. But they aren't there when maui comes though ...

I’m not against this movie, it looks nice, I’m just confused why it needed to exist. I felt like the first one had a perfect conclusion, not everything needs to be milked for all it’s worth.

I hope so too. I’ve heard Barlow and Bear are a little controversial, apparently they got into some legal trouble with Netflix. Hopefully Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa'i who are the composers returning to work on the sequel do a good job in guiding them, as they seem a little inexperienced. I’ve got my fingers crossed. 🤞

Wut? It has all the problems I felt with Wish. Moana is basically mute except for an overlay speech towards the end. Pop culture reference to the trading crabs. And then a fourth wall breaking joke by the supportive character. But no real plot besides the vague idea of uniting different tribes and some monsters. They don't know what they're making yet.

I'm willing to give this a chance. As I said before, Moana is a world where more stories can EASILY be told because the culture is so rich, her people are voyagers, and there's a whole ocean out there. Most people know very little about the mythology from those oceanic cultures, and I'd love to see more of it. It's similar to how Aladdin was a world that just BEGGED to be explored further which was done fantastically with the TV series and _King of Thieves_ to bookend all of it. (I count _Return of Jafar_ as the start of the series because that's what it was officially supposed to be: the first three episodes. Disney just crammed them together with a few songs as an experiment, and _King of Thieves_ was them basically saying "Yeah RoJ kinda blew, were sorry, here's a good sequel as a peace offering.") Disney has made some banger sequels before, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Also, I think Disney did a nice job in making her look just a _little bit_ older in this to show the passage of time. It's been a few years.

So if they thought what they had something that was very good as a story, then they’re gonna evolve this into a film instead. Unlike DreamWorks tv because they know that what they’ll make as a tv series will be bad instead.

Honestly same. Like I feel half of the teaser was stuff we saw from the first one aswell. Like "Hey look the coconuts are back, remember them?" After the initial announcement trailer, I was very against the movie. Although, after seeing this trailer I think that the movie will at least be good. Especially after learning they are getting the original cast for every character (not just Maui) and also managing to get Lin Manuel Miranda on board. At this point, I don’t think Disney is capable of making a good musical without him so I’m happy to see he’s here!

I think the splitting island is a massive clam, as clams do have those many eyes lining the inside. Also the whale i think is actually a whale shark, by the flatish head and the spits coverung its back

I hope they add more gods from the Polynesian mythology, (especially the Hawaiian pantheon) because the mythology is so cool yet it has really never shown up on the big screen except for Maui

Well. If I recall correctly. Moana was the last animated Disney film I saw in theaters and actually enjoyed. But for this to come out of the blue NOW? I have a feeling that Disney knows how much trouble its movies have been in for the last 2 years and are trying to right the ship with sequels to popular IPs (Inside Out and Moana in particular and I wouldn't be surprised if Zootopia 2 suddenly gets out of development hell soon too) Course even if it works it is all being undercut by the continued decline of Marvel and Star Wars (which they are doubling down on) and the asinine ideas they are having for Pirates of the Caribbean and the live-action remakes. Disney still has a long way to go to get out of this slump.

I'm definitely not going to keep my hopes up for this movie because Disney did have to really rush production for this movie. Also, the plot for Moana 2 doesn't seem as dire as the first movie's story. In the first movie, Moana sets off in an adventure to make Maui undo something that he did which became something increasingly life threatening to her tribe. In Moana 2, she seems to be mostly just rounding up and connecting different people from different groups to join her tribe with a few obstacles in her way. Like no one in her tribe seems to be in much danger, which technically would make this movie's plot not as mandatory as the first one.

I actually have a theory that some of the people from Moanas father tribe left the island, when they decided to settle it, but not everyone agreed to it, so they cut all ties and left. Plus it’s heavily hinted at the when they where a sailing tribe, there where MULITPLE Tribes Sailing with them.

The shot of someone picking up the conch is definitely NOT Moana. Look at the size of the hand compared to the shell. It’s gotta be Maui. So the conch will be important. Also in the next shot she has the conch tied to her waist and the hermit crab is gone. It’s two separate scenes.

The original announcement for this sequel stated that songs were being done by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, best known for the Unofficial Bridgerton Musical, and Lin Manuel Miranda was not returning. Dazz is just mistaken.
