A man's Ego is his worst enemy. Your Ego is an a**hole that doesn't know s**t about Reality. The first sign of wisdom is finding the strength to keep your Ego in its place. It should never be allowed to do your thinking for you. Egos don't think. They just childishly react.

Respectfully I really like this comment, I am a former amateur boxer and this is something I always tell myself. My boxing name is "Humble" the reason I did that was so, whenever my name got called, no matter how good people tell me I am, no matter how good I think I am it always reminds to stay humble and quiet, and that there's always a bigger, badder, hungrier dog out there! Have a blessed day

One thing I learnt from training Brazilian Jui Jitzu for 20+ years and some Muay Thai is always, always respect your opponent even if you don't like them and NEVER show-off or be cocky. Let your opponent do the show-boating and make them pay for it. I had a few semi-professional fights back in my younger days and some of the fighters I came up against thought it was a good idea to act tough and show off in front of everybody watching, it is safe to say it wasn't the cleverest of moves from them because I put them on their arses. If you are confident enough to show off, you better be confident enough for failure and embarrassment.

I really don't mind fighters being cocky during weigh in or press conferences. Like it or not, it often helps sell the fight. But once you are in the ring/octagon, there is no more point in doing so. For example, Chael Sonnen was one cockiest fighters and of the biggest trash talker before a fight. You never saw him act out in the octagon.

It seems to me that 9 times out of 10, when a man starts showboating right after taking a shot/shots, then he's probably hurt and / or about to go down. Seen alot of fights, and it does seem to be the rule

Imagine being the trainer for a fighter putting in hours of training everyday for weeks sometimes months giving up time with their families to train and prepare and then get into the ring and showboat and get knocked out. I wonder how many trainers actually walked away from the fighters after the fight because if that lack of respect for the opponent.

I'll never understand why fighters wanna put their hands on each other at the face-off. You literally have a written contract to fight each other the next day. Not only are you risking injury and jeopardizing you pay day, but that's technically assault. Especially for these low profile fights, its just an indication of your low IQ.
