Daehanmingook!!! It’s all the 한 for me. Im only half Korean but the pain and hardships my mom went through post war was passed to me. I share in that “Han”…. While I am American on paper, my heart will forever belong to Korea. Many in Korea have said I will never be Korean… but my blood and my shared collective pain of my 어머님 and 할머니 and 할아버지 says otherwise. 대한민국!

When Japan annexed Joseon(Korea),our grandparents were forced to leave the country. During the independence movement and forced labor,Japan was hit by an atomic bomb and liberated, but war broke out on the Korean Peninsula. When I think of our people who are still scattered around the world,my heart aches and tears come out. I was handed down 한(Han),too. And don't forget that Korean blood flows regardless of nationality, and we are the same people.Korea will study hard, work hard, and constantly develop to create a rich and powerful Korea and protect its people living abroad from discrimination.I love you🫶🏻. Arirang è una canzone popolare che può essere definita il secondo inno nazionale della Corea. Non c'è un coreano che non lo sappia. Arirang Alone is a Korean folk song written in the hope and longing for the reunification of Korea. Sohyang's arrangement is a masterpiece and her vocals are mind blowing as always. Thank you for the reaction, loved it. Check out her rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water next from Immortal Songs 2 (2015).

Going up the hill is sometimes a metaphore for going through hard times and sorrow in Korean folk songs/phrases. (There is another metaphoric hill, Buckwheat hill, meaning times of hunger when there was no rice and people made do with buckwheat). And the boat ride between Mt. Baekdu and Mt. Hanra is between North Korea and South Korea, as they are located there. So the journey together she is talking about means unification...

When I saw your girlfriend or wife, I thought she looked like Shakira. I didn't know Shakira's nationality, but I was surprised to find out that she was of the same nationality. Since I'm Korean, South Americans may look similar to each other in my eyes. Still, I was a bit surprised by myself.
