I remember buying this game for $50 as a kid and my mum yelling at me for spending that much... but the store didn't have returns so I traded it back in and got $10 then got yelled at again lol.

I may be an outlier, but I absolutely loved this game back in the day.

Played the hell out of this game when I was younger. It’s just a lot of fun. Especially the mission modd. It throws you into all these different scenarios, and to master them was quite challenging. They had a lot of variety, even requiring you to play as Cait Sith sometimes, no gun and weak as dirt. All sorts of different challenges. Was so fun.

It needs remake/remaster. Bring it back!

I've spent many years analyzing Dirge of Cerberus and I quite enjoy the speedrunning scene. So I have definitely had a huge amount of enjoyment from this janky title!

well i love Dirg of Cerberus but it is a really short game, if you playd the levels once you can beat the game within a few hours. thats where the negative critism came from because there is not a whole lot of content D; but design wise one of the best looking games square enix produced considering the year was 2006

10:08 yeah that's a really cool ps2 era thing, alot of games has a introductory story/ prologue written in the manual of the game. Somo of the games that i can remember 100% sure are: Dmc1, dmc3 and fatal frame 2. Devil may cry 4 the original ps3 first release of the game has a prologue story on how nero injured his arm trying to save kirie. That's the last game that i remember with a prologue on the game manual.

I think it does need some retooling, but with a little polish, I could certainly see Vincent staring in a DMC-type game, which, ironically seems to be what FF16 actually IS. There are some interesting ideas here, but I agree, focus less on DeepGround, give us more Vincent, and throw some of this in with the upcoming Rebirth as DLC, and I would love to see it included.

I just love Nomurqs character designs from that era. I would love future FF titles to embrace that outlandish and sometimes plain ridiculous designs of characters. We've been geting more serious designs in XV and XVI. I want XVII to go to that golden era for inspiration.

I did buy it on release day, enjoyed it a lot actually since he's my fav character in VII. But tbf, I may have not fully understand the game back then (I was like 15 or so) neither did I understand VII in general, I was just dumb kid back then lol nowadays I think the story is actually so interesting!

I appreciate the game cause it answers a handful of things. They confirm a character's status from crisis core. Which I think leaves room for an alternative story option. Explains lucrecia backstory for those who missed it. More interaction between the characters. As stated in the video, expanded on other characters as the main focus. A possible new route for continuation instead of prequel. When I played this game, it was like the old team was actually slowly forming back together after advent children.

I remember renting this one and really enjoying it I think just because you could customize your loadout/guns and upgrade them etc. Only played it a for a little bit but I did have fun with it. Will need to try it again to see if I still enjoy it.

This came out in an era that I like to call "madness" where SE was trying a lot of new stuff, anything BUT quality. The great news is remake. I think we all (OG fans I mean) GASPED when they showed the Yuffie DLC reveal. Not only cuz Yuffie herself BUT Weiss and Nero!? We had no idea what to expect and honestly? It was a great addition. As long as all the compilation is treated just like they approached/treated deepground/Weiss-Nero, no one will complain. In fact, I am super hyped to see how more of deepground we will see cuz I think this time they will play out WAY more

I loved this game. It wasn't perfect, not even close, but I had so much fun. I was never a fan of FF7, but I did like the story from what I'd seen and really loved Vincent and Yuffie. So when this game came out I was allll over it. I liked the designs, even the comically large reticle. The gameplay overall was lacking a lot, but I gave it a pass for everything else they did right. I'd love to see this remade with better gameplay, while keeping the art and most of the UI the same. Even the comically large reticle lol

This is one of my favorite FF7 spinoff games. I do agree that it would have been better for a game focused on Vincent valentine, to focus 'more' on his backstory, but I liked what was there. Personally, I hope this gets a "remastered" version and that it comes out on PC as well, because I much prefer to play shooter games on PC lol

This is the first Final Fantasy game I finished as I played FF7, FF8, and FF10 as a kid but never finished them . I really enjoyed this game and was really quite surprised why this game got hate lol I also probably didn’t care for the story since I knew very little of FF7.

This is technically the first Final Fantasy game I played. Was always interested in FFVII so when I saw this at blockbuster I rented it. It’s by no means a masterpiece but I loved the story and characters. Gameplay is fine. It’s a not so guilty pleasure for me. I’m hoping this story gets a facelift of some kind in the future

I'm tempted to check it out myself. I played parasite eve 3rd birthday and enjoyed it alot. So makes ne wonder if the other panned square enix shooters are any good.

I always seen it more like an action game than a shooter game and the fact that it isn't a fully shooter game is what made me like it even more

One of the strangest games I ever rented in Blockbuster. Couldn’t appreciate it as much as a kid, but would definitely like to play again just to examine it and see how it holds up.

I've been playing it for the first time recently. I kinda liked it at first but it just gets worse the deeper you go into it. I kinda like what they were trying to do with it. They should've gone more metroidvania with it. Definitely gave me a Castlevania Lament of Innocence/Curse of Darkness vibe, it just leaned too much into trying to be a shooter and the game design goes to hell at a certain point.

I had fun with this but I would love a remake or digital re-release. There's an event in the story I hate though so maybe a remake could include a way to avoid it.

Even though the gameplay wasn't all that the game's sequel story was still very interesting. Shinra was out of commission with the WRO replacing them as the new government which was dedicated to aiding the healing of the planet after the public finally realized how important it's lifeblood was and cannot be used as a damn energy source. It was also about the Shinra's dark secret finally revealing themselves, DEEPGROUND that is!

I hope this game gets the Crisis Core treatment. Personally enjoyed Dirge of Cerberus back when it released in 2006.

What's funny for me is that this is the first game I ever played that belonged to the FF7 series. Yeah, my friend just bought it because it looked like a cool action game and brought it over and let me borrow it. I played through and beat the whole entire thing. I just played it for the game. The story was in one ear and out the other since I had no context whatsoever since I hadn't played the original FF7 nor had I seen Advent Children. I remember having fun with it. In fact, I can't help but notice that the user rating for this game is quite a lot higher than the critical reception on Metacritic. Mayyyyybe it's not quite as bad as some people make it out to be. ;)

I preordered it. I loaned it to a friend. Never saw it again. I regret that.

What I would give for a remaster or remake

Played this for the first time very recently. People really give this game too much of a hard time. The auto aim doesn't bother me as I treated it more like a action RPG. Controls are a bit stiff, but so are plenty of games from then. My biggest complaints are that the story is too short in my opinion and there is not enough time with the Deepground characters. The boss fights are also too easy. The lore is great though and is probably my favorite part.
