The way the slavers and abolitionists in Fallout 3 talk and act, it makes it sound as if the Paradise Falls slavers have an iron grip over a huge swathe of the wasteland or are so powerful that they project influence over the area. However, it clashes really hard with the fact that the Capital Wasteland is completely anarchic and that the slavers are just like 15 dudes in an old outlet mall, so you're left scratching your head as to this strange dichotomy. Or in short; Bethesda bad hurr hurr.
@Umbra_Ursus6 ай бұрын
They're not the worst case of lore clashing with gameplay. Look at Talon Company: Supposed mercenaries, but the only difference between them and the average raider is an outfit. Or power armor: Can apparently turn the tide of war, but I've seen raiders mop the floor with both BOS and Enclave.
@Akumagold6 ай бұрын
In the Wasteland, 15 dudes in a heavily defended area with a reputation of selling slaves with bomb collars is a pretty good match against most. It takes an inside man to take them out efficiently in the game unless you run in with crazy weapons a normal wastelander would never have.

Did this quest last night, decided to clear the memorial before leading the Abolitionists to it… First try I ended up aggro’ing a Reaver in an attempt to see what they’d actually be capable all loaded up with Chinese Assault Rifles… I think three died before I reloaded. Second try, Hannibal and Four Score started swimming across the river at the Anchorage Memorial!? I decided to scout ahead and clear the way, only to turn around thinking they were just cooling off… And they were gone!!! I ended up exploring several of the underground areas near there to find them, never did catch up with them. Decided to go to the West Mall exit, waited four times before they all popped into existence in front of me.

I once created a character that resembled Abraham Lincoln in New Vegas, and made it my sole mission to fuck over the Legion in every way possible while supporting the flawed but overall preferable NCR, even CC'd in Kimball's Suit and wore it through the playthrough (though relied heavily on stimpaks and med x to not die). It'd have been even better if I'd had a radio station that added in Union Dixie on repeat.

This reminds me of an idea that I had when playing fallout 3. I think it would have been cool to set up a permanent settlement at paradise falls after killing all the slavers. Since you can have three big town citizens as temporary followers and give them equipment, and because the close proximity, I think it would be cool to rebuild Paradise Falls using the citizens of big town and the slaves there.

Y'know, that makes me think of a mechanic for future Fallout/Elder Scrolls games: *Item Gifting* Have an additional default dialogue interaction where you're able to trade with anyone friendly enough, willing to and reasonably have something to trade, like most non-merchant, non-story-crucial, non-conpanion NPCs. Whilst in the trade menu, there is a toggle function where you can enter *Gift Mode,* which allows you to directly insert whatever items into the NPC's personal inventory in exchange for karma/reputation/a gift in turn rather than money/direct-purchase items. This way you don't have to reverse pick-pocket weapons and armor into the inventories of any NPC you like, add a more tactile roleplay element to PC-to-NPC interactions, and can even be used a sort of story-sidestepping mechanic for certain quest segments.
@The-Plaguefellow4 ай бұрын
As a sort-of addendum, Quest and most Junk Items can never be gifted, and Unique/Legendary Items will have a pop-up asking if you _really_ want to gift it, just so you don't accidentally gift away something you may actually want to keep. Even then, you're able to take back any item before closing the trade window and finalizing your selection.

I feel like the abolitionists would have won regardless of the slavers' level if they actually fought. There were so many, like SO MANY times where they had a direct clear shot with nothing in the way but just sat there while the slaver shot them. Like it seems like the slavers' ai was programmed to be tactical, while the abolitionists' ai was programmed to be near stupid.

Lol, I trained my evil chaotic character; Tera, to the top level with as many energy and projectile weaponry and technology science and repair quirks I could in 2010 (when I bought this game three years after it came out) then I maxed those quirks out, then I bought a bunch of guns, and the supplies and ammo to keep them going in a fight. (along with making sure my character had a strong back quirk) With my Fat-Man, tesla-cannon, Fire-Lance/ Alien Blaster, advanced ET weaponry, and gatling lasers, laser and plasma rifles, laser and plasma pistols, and every mine and genade you could think of and launched World War Four on the slaver encampment and their whole base of slavery. I did it for the lulz, I was under no contract to do it, and I turned it into my THIRD home in the whole game along with Tepid Sewers, and Ten-Penny Tower. None survived.

I have confirms that Fallout NV 9mm SMG and the Varmint rifles INDEED are real in the real world. The 9mm SMG that looks like the M3 Grease guns is actually a Type 37 Grease guns rechambers or manufactures in 9mm by the People republic of China army, likely from captures tooling from the ROC army, as they also did similar thing to rechambers the Bren in 7.62x39 and Sten SMG in 7.62x25 rounds. The Varmint rifles is a 1 to 1 clone of the Savage Arms model 25 in 22 Hornet, NOT 22LR. 22 Hornet casing is only slightly shorter than 223Rem/5.56x45mm, thus explains why the magazines is that long.
