It’s not Dunkey’s game. It’s Billy Basso’s game and Dunkey’s company published it. Normally I wouldn’t be a stickler about this kind of stuff, but the dude literally made the entire game himself, including the engine, over the course of 7 years

Finds unlit candle. Tries to light it with firecrackers, unsuccessfully. Finds a match and asks “what’s this for?”

This felt like one of those ads where the player is intentionally bad at puzzles so you get mad and want to try it yourself :D

i was questioning the 25$ price point but after learning one guy made the engine/art/music/puzzles all by himself, i think he's earned the right to sell his game for that much. also, the game might seem short for a normal a playthrough but it goes deep, REAL DEEP. theres so much to be discovered and completionists are gonna have a great time with it. if you arent into metroidvania/puzzle games then i would wait for a sale but i think if you're a fan of the genres then 25$ is well worth the money. best puzzlevania on the market hands down, not a well-like out there that can touch this game

The fact that this game has been received so well by critics and players alike feels like a giant middle finger to everyone on Twitter that wished for Big Mode to crash and burn. It’s great!

I'm so glad the tools are widely available for indies to exist. Just seeing the dev's synths in the background in the dunkey release video was very inspiring.

more Billy Basso's game, he made the engine, graphics, music, EVERYTHING. Dunkey published it because he as godlike taste and eyes for talent

Maybe not for everyone but for all that it does in its genre 10/10. Amazing art style (remenecent of the Vectrex console of the 80s) , animations, sound, music and a deep interesting and varied adventure/puzzle/metroidvania gameplay chuck full of secrets. Made by 1 guy...just wow. Really great seing Asmon getting into Indie titles :) They deserve the praise.

tip for anyone trying the game, you can take the mock disc without taking the real disc first, and swap them out afterwards. no dog chase. well, at least for a while.

The really cool thing about this game is that not only was it made by one dude (Art, Music, etc.), but that dude also created his own engine in order to make the game in the first place. I'm super impressed by that.

I only watched a few minutes of the gameplay but it reminded me of Mario & Luigi. I'd imagine the Background made me think that 😂 Keep them coming Sir. I Followed you because of a more open dialogue plus them mmorpg straight Gas.

So basically they took Rain World and made it less of a simulation and more of a video game. Ngl I remember thinking years ago how good of an idea that is.

I had this playing for background noise, and because of the way the ghost cat sfx are mixed, I thought I kept hearing a weird sounding car engine revving up, far away from my place.

Game is pretty fun, very little hand holding and so many secrets. Probably not your game if you don't like puzzles or platformers

i hope we get to see more content creators or otherwise successful gamers invest into publishing good games. would build a great contrast to AAA games and the trash "indie" titles you have to filter through on steam or other platforms to find anything decent. i love the atmosphere of this game.

I must remark that it's quite amusing to watch this individual getting frustrated, swearing, and belittling himself.

Like others have mentioned already, I'm glad Dunkey is the publishing figure for this game since it really boosts it for marketing since it's actually pretty cool of a game, but the actual dev is being overshadowed severely by Dunkey's name, considering he's a solo dev who did everything from scratch. The promo is great, giving credit to Dunkey as a publishing figure and someone who's marketing it is completely fine, but influencers with large audiences need to handle this with more care. The actual dev doesn't deserve the treatment of being a nobody while Dunkey gets all the credit.

u can tell he's never played a metroidvania before and i LOVE it and in typical 'new to metroidvania' fashion, not having any idea where to go, at 33:00 minutes in he stumbles upon one of the hardest platforming sections in the game (which is completely optional and easy to miss) lmao TEXTBOOK
