You have a truly beautiful head of hair. I have learned that you should be doing protein/strengthening treatments BEFORE you plan to straighten hair to give it the strength to withstand heat. All over KZfaq people are doing videos on how to “fix it”, when that really isn’t truly possible if you have true heat damage. Hair is not like skin, which is living tissue. It is just dead protein, so cannot be “repaired”. Any treatments you apply to damaged hair are temporary. You have to keep doing them to maintain the condition of the hair after damage is done. That’s why you see people with true heat damage end up cutting it off. Luckily yours is minimal. Also a lot of the products used in a silk press have silicones, so you need to wash your hair with a sulphate shampoo to remove them. That way you can really assess the condition of your hair. That’s probably why you see people say it will revert after a few washes, when in reality, they still had some residual silicone on their hair, but the shampoo they were using was not enough to remove it in one wash so it took more time to revert. 🤷🏾‍♀️

You don't know how shocked I was when i read that title, my heart i know exactly how you feel...I've been thru a dramatic heatdamage phase like my hair texture even went from 4a/b to 3a/b - you will get thru it tho :)

sophiarohtt rohttsophia I believe that happens because heat relaxes our curls. It can loose. The curl pattern think about when you straighten curly weave the curls aren’t as promoted or define as before you straighten that weave :)

Same thing happened to me. I do not apply heat to my hair at home and went to a natural hair salon with healthy hair. I left with heat damage 💀😒. Like yours, mine is not TERRIBLE but still after investing so much time and careful handling, this setback is very frustrating

Aysha Kanté ive really been hearing horror stories I just want to find someone who knows what they’re doing ! Isn’t there a lower setting we could use that will still make it straight but less likely to cause damage. Or maybe they didn’t apply enough heat protectant
@GardenedCoils
@GardenedCoils 4 жыл бұрын
Aysha Kanté I recently got a Deva Cut and the stylist cut my hair while it was dry. They cut the hair curl by curl/strand by strand. From now on, I will be getting my hair trimmed by a Deva Cut stylist so that I don’t have to get my hair flat ironed anymore. I’m not big on straight hair anyway and was only getting it when I had to get trims

Aphogee’s Curlific shampoo and texture treatment will get you all the way together love. I would sit under my hair steamer for 20 minutes while the texture treatment was in my hair. That helps with elasticity. The front section of my hair is more prone to get heat damage than the rest, and it used to look just like yours. My curls are super tight now. That line brought my curls back to life! I used it twice a week in the beginning for a over a month then I would alternate and use Aphogee’s two step protein treatment as well every other month. It works!

This always happens to me when I straighten my hair 😩 maybe after a few protein treatments they’ll bounce back. I always get straight bits in my nape and front and they bounce back after some protein treatments. Your hair is still beautiful 😍

@haleybrown2795
@haleybrown2795 4 жыл бұрын
LillyPop Originals I know right! 😅 and typically I don’t straighten my hair. I usually straighten once a year, twice at max. I think similarly to Racheal my hair is naturally loose at the front so it’s more prone to heat damage.

Haley Brown what kind of protein treatments do you recommend??
@haleybrown2795
@haleybrown2795 4 жыл бұрын
Kyona Harris for heat damage I usually go straight for aphogee products. The step protein treatment, the aphogee curlific treatment or the aphogee 2 minute protein treatment . Those help my hair to revert if it’s not completely damaged

I’m so so sad right now. I’ve been natural sense I was six but never appreciated my natural hair and instead wore wigs (once I turned like 16) and literally never let anyone see my hair. We have VERY similar hair. I found your channel like a year ago and have been basically copying all of your styles and loving it! I even allowed my boyfriend to see my natural hair and wore it to family events! I recently decided to do an at home silk press (I used heat protectant and only used 430 degrees with two passes) and my hair is completely different. In the back there is severe heat damage there are certain sections that are completely straight literally will not curl. The overall hair literally went from a beautiful doily 4C to some sort of damaged 4a/4b. Very discouraged 😩😢

The same thing happened to me after I got a silk press, but the person who did my hair used a lot more heat in the blow drying process. He also went over my roots a few times. I have 4B and 4C hair... with the front being 4B. I’ll never do that again.
