You don’t need to tip everywhere, even if they accept tips. Places like coffee shops where you’re just in and out, just give them a dollar or two if you’d like, otherwise it’s not that big of a deal. Just tip at sit down restaurants for 15-20%, or whatever you want really. I’ve worked in restaurants, there is a tipping culture but even Americans hate tipping lol. Some will be regulars and leave you nothing every visit, while others will order an appetizer and give you like 100% of the price in tip. Don’t stress about it too much and have fun. It’s interesting seeing people talk about their experience visiting here, you don’t hear about it too much 😂 Also yeah, hotel food is overpriced unless you’re at a nicer place or somewhere that offers free breakfast (but it’s really just part of your hotel cost). Lol

When calculating tip Midbeast I always divide my bill by 10. This gives me 10% or a tip I'd give for absolutely horrendous service. From there I will multiply that number by 1.5 or 2. So in your case $33 meal. Tip for crap service would be $3.3 (easy just move the decimal to the left once not much thinking required honestly) then just x2 for solid service so $6.6 which means that your $40 (33+6.6=$39.6 or ~$40) spend was spot on for what the average server is expecting at minimum in this country.

yeah 16 at a stand is standard typically 8 for normal up to like 12 for like special dog. Hotel coffee is never good and typically over charged by like a dollar or 2. As for tips I do a dollar a drink same for at the bars.

15:10 cheat code for tipping from a former server. Take the number in the “tens” and multiply that by 2… that’s your tipping amount. Ex. 33$ bill -> the 3 is in the tens place so your tip = 3x2=6$ tip (This is easiest way to guesstimate 20%tip which is the standard.) I tip less like 15% or 10% if I felt disrespected by the waiter. I tip more i felt like the waiter went above and beyond, like 25% or 30% I dont tip when I order something from a counter/cashregister. Example Starbucks or subway When I get a cheap breakfast at a diner and am waited on but the meal is super cheap, I usually tip more than. The 20% cause well, the foods so cheap.
